Title: A question about Guild Wars
Post by: nuno_silva_pt on May 10, 2005, 08:34:32 pm
Helo everyone, nice to meet you, i just registered at the forums, and i have a (hopefully) simple question:
Imagine i create/join a guild in the game, must there be guild wars with other guilds, or can the guild choose not to do guild wars? Thank you for your help.

As far as I know you have to have an agreement on both sides to go into a war.

You also have to be at war with the guild that has most members. Because I don\'t like it.

Just kidding, you only get the guild wars (and any other kind of wars) you pick. Unless you go head on with a creep.

There are many guild in planeshift that have nothing to do with fighting. You\'re more than welcome to create a non-fighting guild.

Oooohhh, another Tuga :D

Guildwars are made like challenges. Although, it affects the whole guild.

A leader of a guild challenges the other leader for a guildwar.
If the request is accepted anyone from guild A can be attacked by guild B without challenges and vice versa. The war only ends when one guild yields.

so how exactly would one take over another guild?

It would only be possible through roleplay, really.

hmmmmm....that kinda sux, they should make it to where if you win a guild war, you have the option to take over the guild. After all, what they want is realism in the game right? So what would happen IRL? If you went to war with another city, wouldn\'t you want the option to take control?

Another thing, if a guild really doesn\'t like another guild, they should be able to declare war on them no matter what. Do you think the Sparta went to troy and asked nicely for a war? No, they came in and attacked. We should be able to do the same. It would also help people to achieve world domination if they wanted.

But we don\'t want that. That\'s akin to open PK, and that subject has been beaten to death by itself. (Feel free to search around for the various threads.) I don\'t see how two opposing guilds could merge into one at the end of a war. Would not members of the defeated guild refuse to follow the ideals and goals of their enemies? Would they not have the option of leaving, or will they simply become slaves for an indeterminable period of time? Slavery in-game I fear will open doors to a lot of irritation, anger, and exploiting. It\'s entirely possible to have fun RPing such, but not likely to occur for everyone.

No, the very basics of guild wars will most likely remain as they are - guilds will have to agree to them. Of course that\'s where the amazing fun of RP could come in too - enemy guild leaders talk OOC to see if they can create some interesting situation for their members, in which one will sacrifice something, or another will, to set up some drama that can be interesting to RP through. A play with words seems a lot more interesting than code and buttons.

Well it was a very general idea any way, I didn\'t mean I wanted slaves or anything like that. However, if a guild wins a guild war, the leader should choose whether they want to permantly disband the loser or not. It would give guilds more motivation to train and win.

So they can then reform in secrecy, right? :D

Then it just becomes a war of who-loses-patience-first XD Or a giant hunt. A part of me actually likes that idea, mm...

Thats correct, and i can definatelly vouch for that!
As long as you have persistance, and dont mind the occasional visit to death realm. It becomes a war of the mules..The most stuborn being the victor.. And myself and guild are the most cunning, wicked bunch of mules out there!  :D

OOC: I know how that sounds

Be sure to think long and hard about your goals, structure, and history. Otherwise you will be eaten alive, I\'m afraid. And if you know of a guild that is already similar to what you have in mind for creation, it\'s recommended that you don\'t create, but join. It helps prevent a bunch of clone guilds from running around trying to recruit members for the same basic purposes.

It\'s possible for my guild to have the same goals, but mine will have alot more things to it than others, I would organize it very well and alredy have a tria system that benifits both the guild and it\'s members. This system would also motivate them to train harder than others which would be another advantage. I have a few more I deas right now, but I\'m not sure how to achieve these things.

Er... tria system? I was talking more about the guild orders/ranks/structure. Also, you\'ll be more successful (and definitely better received in the community) if your guild promotes roleplay more than training.

the tria sys. would fall under structure, or the organization, and yes, I have quite a few ideas dealing with ranking and guild orders.

Just thinking about the point of whats the benefit of winning a war. How about something along the lines of the losers having to pay some sort of reparations/donations to the victor to stem the hostilies. Perhaps an amount agreed on before the start of the war so if someone is winning by alot they cant suddenly decide they want an inordinate (is this a word) amount of tria or there just gonna keep killin ya. yer im just gonna post this now before i babble some more
