Speech is most free when it is stricly monitored for political and social correctness. Please, don\'t hesistate to beg for the closure of any thread that might marginally offend you. It\'s a tough world, and you shouldn\'t have to deal with things you don\'t like. Thank god we have authorities around here who will do their best to keep you in your protective bubble!

I don\'t think Buddhah really wants everyone crying to the mods about offensive posts. The post seems like more of a way to vent some recent frustration.

Freedom of speech is, well, kind of important to most people from the U.S. But more important, in my opinion, is the ability to accept dissention. Forgive me if I step on anyone\'s toes, but MMORPGs tend to be inhabited by younger people who don\'t understand why flaming, banning or kicking is so bad. It\'s a sign of ignorance and insecurity. Something you are supposed to grow out of.
Yes, I\'m annoyed that a thread of mine was deleted. But I\'m more annoyed that it seems okay to some people to just burn the books they don\'t like.
You might say, \"we\'re gaming, so what\'s the big deal?\". Well, it should never be okay, in any context, to arbitrarily silence a minority opinion. Let the intellectual market reign. The thread that got deleted was a farce thread. It got more views and posts than the original, so what was the audience choosing?
Like Larry Flynt said: \"You don\'t like Hustler Magazine? Dont read it.\" That\'s very different than burning every copy you find.

(Actually that\'s not true. I got a report email a few days ago that said \"adhkafslk\". I wanted to hug him. Very, very tightly. :) )

Accusing moogie of abusing her rights as moderator is pathetic. The only thing I have to say about her is that she is far to mild to people. When was the last banning? Wasn\'t that link? (no offense, at all) Remember Nikolai saying: \"When I asked moogie what STFU means she said \'Shut the **** up\' buhuhu *cries* She couldn\'T have said that it meant Stuff you. buhuhu *cries*\"
If freedom of speec goes that far that people feel strongly attacked it goes to far.
I personally did not think you thread was bad, but I am subjective. I neither was the victim, nor was I in a bad mood.

This again? Come on people, there\'s nothing you can accomplish by trying to talk sense into some people but getting yourself banned. Believe me, I think this is something I should know.
And I think your post should have been deleted, buddha. It was a waste of forum space, being not at all funny. Maybe if a little more effort had been put into it. It had the same effect as you posting a single smiley or \"Your stupid!\". Your original post on this thread was much better...though maybe a bit more subtletly, not everyone will get it but I think it is better then beating someone over the head with sarcasm.

First, if you think she is then it is not pathetic to accuse her as such. Further, she can not \"officially\" ban people, and no there have been plenty of people banned since Link.
There are different forms of abuse, and it\'d be stupid to say she or any of the other moderators haven\'t done so. It is just what happens.

maybe you should graphic it better make it nice a shiny and take up half the screen, that way it can take the childrens attention away from watching their post count rise :P

Buddha, your post was a bit rude. There is a much better way to insult people without coming down to that level. Take this (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=15528&boardid=18&styleid=4&sid=8165a4ba7d97b293f64e20532c5d4355) for example. You can make people feel like fools without hurting their feelings. That is what I meant by \"You are entering Sheeple territory\". The Sheeples where created for exacty the same purpose as your thread. Though, I put time and effort into it to make sure no one felt personaly insulted. And believe it or not, some good has come out of it. Where as I see nothing but hard feelings coming from yours.

Political Correctness can get out of hand, so can mods. I have not found a great deal of unsatisfactory moderation decisions during my time here. Most were provoked by crummy attitudes on the part of the moderated/banned.

Like always it seems I have missed the cause of the commotion, though I almost always seem to catch argument that is generated. Though this feeling is not new too me as I miss or am slow to realize many things...

I have asked if it could be possible to have exact rules for GM and moderators. In my thread I remember everyone seems to answer the same thing : \"If there is any problem speak to developpers in irc chan\"...
And after a little number of posts like that I concluded it was impossible to speak about rules for GM and moderators here...
And look what\'s happening !
I know Moogie a little and I think she is making a nice job. But I recognize there are some rules problems and that she is able to make some mistakes... she is human before anything else and a human makes some mistakes.
But first of all people here need to know how to behave before speaking about politically correct : Behave toward the others like you would like to see the other behaving toward you. Once you respect this rules there is no need to delete any post !
It includes NewPie and SaintNulcear behaviours... (:D) and even mine (I recognize I had some dumb behaviours and I will certainly have others dumb behaviours in the future... Im a human too).
I like freedom of expression too but you must respect everyone before complaining

Buddha, I have to agree with Moogie completely on the latest threadlock. Not only have such threads been started in the past with near-disastrous effects, but it\'s utterly futile to try to win someone to your position, especially when that someone seems to be as confident about what he/she knows as serpentjoe. It\'s just no good. The topic is often a personal and heated one, and such tend to turn forum members against each other. So let\'s let it go :>

Serpent Joe thread: I explained fully why it was locked in my post there. How else can I tell you \"this has been done already hundreds of times\"? What is the problem with reading back at old threads to get your answers like I asked? And most of all, if you\'re addressing JUST Serpent Joe, why not PM him in the first place?? Conclusion = Justified.
OSC dissing George Lucas\' ass off thread: Here you created a thread which was bound to provoke opposing opinions from different people. And the way you worded it was insulting to those who might have a different opinion to you (Quote: \"You guys are stupid\"). After you made your second post to argue with Depthblade, I could already see the flamewars coming. Trust me, it is not worth it. I don\'t see what you have to complain about- Depth got a warning for that and you didn\'t. Lucky S.O.B. :P Conclusion = Justified.
If you\'re going to start threads, have a little respect for the people that are going to reply there, otherwise you have no right to whine when they get closed.
I try not to make a habit of explaining every little thing I do here- most of it should be blindingly obvious, and I\'m pleased to see that mostly it is *nods to the ever-intelligent Karyuu*. But for the purposes of stopping even more of these \"omg wtf ju do!?!\" threads from appearing every time the last one is deleted, it\'s good to spell it out every now and then.
