The Linux client is not ready yet. Only the Windows client is ready for updating at the moment.
According to what Talad said in the #planeshift IRC channel, the Linux client/updates should be available tomorrow (edit: keep in mind this is if all things go according to plan). So I suppose that means wait until tomorrow. =/

i guess im trained in waiting now ;) .
so i do what i can do best, wait.
better do it carefully than fast and buggy so take your time.
-
Too bad... I wish the linux version had came out at the same time the windows version did. Linux users are again considered as marginals.
-
Well, I figure if they came out at the same time they probably would have had to hold off on releasing one of them, and with the way some people have been itching (some not so politely) to play the game ASAP, they ended up releasing the first one they finished it seems. I guess patience is all it takes, even though it\'s been this long already - but hey, it\'s gotta be worth the wait. ;) Maybe use the time to think of some cool roleplaying possabilities, or some deep character history. ;)
-
ok lets wait for the new linux client
-
i dont understand why the updater is version bound itself.
normally its the meaning of an updater to keep something \"up-to-date\".
thats a bit strange.
but i have given up to understand the strange logic of ps dev team, sorry no offence.

The updater is a piece of software. It undergoes changes, gets improvements, bug fixes. Hence the updater itself needs to be updated from time to time.

hi guys !!
Linuxians are waiting for a long time now ... so i propose we give 3000 teeth of tefusang to compense this ... = ;C) )
Who vote for this motion ?
= ;C) )
More seriously, i would like to say to the team that i don\'t care to wait : they make good job and i thank them for this ... ;C))

I seriously do wonder why people that are asking for the updater and are afraid of getting forgotten don\'t complie it themselves?
I mean, they DO have linux.
We have buildscripts and everything on the forum

hehehe... we are asking for SOMETHING to play, we dont ask for an updater, but for the last version.... anyway, i prefer .run files than source files, but this thread began when linux users cannot connect becuase our older client...
If we must compile ourselves, a compliling guide will be very useful, and a CVS acces should be great too, but if we only have a 250MB binary-only client to download is normal that people ask for and updater (not every linux user is a guru user to know how to reverse-enginering that binary and then compile without a source code...)
but we can wait, you know, linux users always waits until the end... ;)
EDIT 5 minutes after...: well i just saw the scripts you said... tomorrow morning i\'ll try them :P
