Title: Avatars
Post by: serpentjoe on May 19, 2005, 06:32:54 am
I have some ideas for a few avatars, but
I know not how to upload them. Techie help required.

I also need to know how to use the favorites list on the CP.

Avatars are for Developers, moderators, GMs, and other \"VIP\"s such as the server sponsor Chrischoo.

Just wondering, why exactly is it that only Developers, moderators, GMs, and other \"VIP\"s such as the server sponsor Chrischoo gets to have an avatar?

It is so staff/official members can be distinguished from regular posters. It has several advantages, such as knowing that someone with an avatar knows what they\'re talking about when they\'re responding to a particular issue. It\'s also somewhat of a reward.

And how could i earn one of these rewards? I like the idea.

PS How did you earn an avatar, jazeera?

PPS You still haven\'t answered my favorites list question.

Jazeera doesn\'t have an avatar. He has a signature and User Rank stars. Everyone has signatures and stars (except a few people with avatars).

Avatars are earned by joining the PlaneShift development team, contributing servers/hardware, becoming a GM or a Moderator.

Joining the PS Team: http://www.planeshift.it/helpus_recruit.html

Contributing hardware: Nothing needed right now.

Becoming a GM: Go through the Advisor System ingame (read the Player\'s Guide about that).

Becoming a Moderator: None currently needed.

You still haven\'t answered my second question!

PS Oh and how do you put an image into your signature?

Moogie did answer your second question, Jazeera doesn\'t have an avatar. Perhaps you are mixing up a signature image and an avatar, as an avatar is an image on the left directly under the player\'s name. Only special people have them.

Now, you are allowed a signature image of maximum 100 by 500 pixels. Cannot be rude or offensive, but I think that\'s about the only rule. To insert one:

1.) Go to proflie up at the top of the screen, go to edit signature.

From there, you can put in any text based signature, read the rules there.

2.) To post an image, you need to host it somewhere, like imageshack.com. When you have uploaded an image there, it will give you a screen with information on displaying it. Save this info.

3.) Back in edit signature, you put in the direct link to the image (from the imageshack page) with an img in brackets before the link, and /img in brackets after the link.

Preview it, the image should show up. You can also add text, and embedded links as well. To embed a link, within the img and /img, add url (in brackets again) followed by the link followed by /url (again in brackets) This must be done inside of the img and /img not disrupting the link of the picture.

Hope this helps,

Xirius

Let me calm down. When i said \'second question\' i meant the second one in the original post. How do you work the favorites in the CP? Oh and i figured out the signature wasn\'t an avatar. thank you for the clarification though.8)

ok i know this is stupid, but is there some alternate weird code to put the signature, cause the usual html code doesn\'t work. Is there any other way to put it than:

this one is the usual code so why doesn\'t it work?

You have to use bb code
so to get this=
(http://membres.lycos.fr/cloudy3/Daath.png)
you have to write (img)http://membres.lycos.fr/cloudy3/Daath.png(img) replacing the \")\"s with \"]\"s
