Is there any other areas for newbes to hunt than the sewers? I run around the sewers and most of the spots where rats spawn are camped by other players. Either open another area or add more rats? If that is possible. I would love to help develop new areas if there is a map editor.
-
I think the sewer is the only area atm... but since this is a tech demo, I don\'t think the devs care much about newb areas... sad to bring the bad news... or perhaps not :P
-
Hey, look at the bright side: You\'re a newbie for the first week and then you\'re not a newbie!
-
Even though some people tends to stay as newbies, for a longer period of time :baby:
-
I do have to say this. This is a really cool thing they have going on there. I wish I could help out some way. But programing and graphical artist I am not. Maybe if they develop a map editor I could make new areas for them. hint hint
-
I\'m new and I\'ve managed to kill some rats. What surprises me is the rate at which they respawn (a couple of seconds), is this normal?
-
It depends what you mean by \"newbie areas\". I\'m guessing you\'re all talking about fighting and killing monsters. In Planeshift, there are many things to do and be a newbie in- not just combat. It may be the most extensively implemented system at present, but hopefully that will change soon, and PlaneShift will finally start to move away from the hack\'n\'slash silliness.
-
hehe, yes sometimes they do take longer, but I think 1 or 2 weeks seems to be the average before they can kill the young tefusangs or something.
Edit: I should also mention that with rping, anyone who knows how to rp would not be a newb as far as I\'m concerned.

I have heard you could mine, but I do not know the areas well enough to get anywhere. Just the sewers. I hate to ask people where to go, but that is a big city. I wish there was a map somewhere that showed you where all the areas are. Maybe someday.
-
Explore!
Oh and there is a map of the world (as it will be) in the library somewhere, if you can find that. Seriously though exploring is something you should do. Don\'t just ask where this or that is but try to find it yourself.
Since there is a lot yet to be implemented yet you don\'t want to advance too fast. Else you \'ll end up being bored too fast so exploring and taking your time to discover everything will keep you entertained a lot longer.
-
While you are exploring, take a few screens - always funny when SB comes out, to say you have been a part of CB ;)
-
Look in Ojaveda (dock sector)..... You\'ll be surprised!!!!
(Watch out for those rogues though

Many? Not exactly sure what you mean by many.
You can kill rats in the sewers-- yes, bare handed.
You can mine-- after you kill rats in the sewer enough to buy a mining pick.
You can attempt to do qeusts-- they are not working but you can still hunt for the NPC\'s in town.
You can craft-- not sure about this one, but I think you have to kill a few rats first just to gain skill in smithing.
You can read the forums-- but you should kill a few rats first so you know what the game is all about. (my favorite)
You can learn to program and contribute to the project-- first you should kill a few rats so the devs know you are serious about the game.
Did I miss anything Moogie?

Maybe you missed roleplaying??? That\'s supposed to be one of the original thoughts on what the game should be about. Try it one day, you may be surprised.

Tis true. It can be said that roleplay is one of the fine arts that one can persue here in Hydlaa. Aye, myself have not much in the way of true tallent and have opted to stay away from the fine arts. I prefer to let my skills as a warrior do the talking for me.
