Whenever i play the game white rectangles instead of names appear on top of peoples heads. How can i fix this?
Hint: It probably has nothing to do with my video cards.
-
I am also having this problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers. :)

I guess we\'ll just have to assume it has nothing to do with your graphics card or drivers, even if this is a classic sign of being that nature of problem.
But maybe you could tell us some details that prove it? :P

it happend to me 2, i am using a pentium 4 3.2 GHZ processor, a PCI express nvidia Geforce 4 6200 256 MB with 1 GIG of ram.

Here moogie a proof:

i am having the same problem, it appeared after update. I was having this problem in the CVS version also right after Blue updated client to show those nice labels that appear in center of the screen and fade with time.
I can see those labels pretty good but can\'t see those tags.
My Specs:
P-IV 1.8 Ghz, 256Mb SDRAM, intel extreme 64Mb built-in GPU.
-
Does this happen on ALL labels?
And i trust that you\'ve run the updater
And solidsnake, you can\'t have a GF4 AND GF6

Hm, what \"Intel Extreme\" exactly? I think there are multiple ones...

I\'ve updated the game before posting. The bug is still there and it appeared after update.
Yes i see it on every player & NPCs head.
&Intel Extreme is just like Nvidia\'s Geforce 2, but it lacks a hardware T&L unit, it performs Texturing & Lightning through software and this causes many games not to run on it. :/

Blind shot: does uncommenting the line \"Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_SGIS_generate_mipmap = false\" (remove the leading semicolon) from data/config/r3dopengl.cfg change anything?
-
If that\'s a blind shot, I would hate to have you shooting at me with your eyes open!
I uncommented the line, and I can see the labels perfectly now. :)
Thanks! 8)

What graphics card did you have, btw? (I need that info so I can add an entry to the driver database). Of course, everyone else getting this issue is welcome to report that, too. So far I only know it happens on Intel graphics, and a GeForce where it\'s not clear whether a 4 or 6 was meant... Thanks.
-
I\'ve got an Geforce 4 graphics card, 512mb Ram, 2.8ghz proccessor, Windows XP.
Thanks again for the help, it\'s nice to know who I\'m seeing ingame. :)

Hm strange... I have a GF4 in my PC atm, too, but don\'t get problems...
Anyway, I do need some more precise infos; what I\'d ask you to do is:
1. Run PlaneShift from the command line like this:
psclient.exe -console -verbose=-scf > foo.txt
- just starting suffices, you don\'t need to run around or so; the time the PS window popped up the info was recorded.
2. Look in foo.txt for lines like:
crystalspace.canvas.openglwin: GL driver: NV4_DISP 6.14.10.7610
crystalspace.canvas.openglcommon: OpenGL renderer: GeForce4 Ti 4200/AGP/SSE/3DNOW! (vendor: NVIDIA
Corporation) version 1.5.3
...and report them back to me.
Thanks!

don\'t u remember where u installed PS?
i installed it in \"E:/Games/PlaneShift Crystal Blue\"
so i have to open this file:
E:/Games/PlaneShift Crystal Blue/data/config/r3dopengl.cfg\"
and then find this line:
;Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_SGIS_generate_mipmap = false
and edit it like this ( remove the leading semicolon \';\' )
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_SGIS_generate_mipmap = false
Then save it (CTRL + S).
then run the client and i hope you\'ll not see those white rects any more.
Now is there anything you can\'t understand here?
