Do you already have a Bittorrent client?
If not I suggest you to download BitComet

Since it seems that the BT client isn\'t working properly, you can try a different one like Azureus (http://sourceforge.net/projects/azureus/) (Java client) or ABC (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pingpong-abc/).

15-30 minutes on 2 mbit. The absolute best case with 44 kbit is 12 hours, but you need to add some overhead to that. 38 hours does sound a bit high though.

Essentially, yes.  You can download it with a dial-up connection, but it will take a markedly longer time to download the installation executable.

38 hours sounds right to me for a 56K dialup connection since you can never really reach that theoretical maximum limit.  (I remember back when I had dial-up, it took me nearly two days to finish downloading MolecularBlue)  You might find this calculator (http://www.intel.com/personal/do_more/broadband/calculator.htm) handy for future downloading. :)
