Who else finds the world of Planeshift to be too imaginative?
interesting to say the l.... actually that would be the wrong word completely.
I think I\'ll stick with wierd.
-
I have an idea...
Quit making stupid threads.
-
If you don\'t understand part of the setting/history, all you need do is ask.
*Agrees with Kiern*
-
Oin?
I\'m looking to what u\'ve wrote and i dont have a clue of what your talking about.. ?(
-
have you read the story/setting pages?
-
Yes, of course I have. I\'ve been prompted-to many, many times before, by other forum users.
To Kiern, which threads are you refering to, apart from, apparently this one.
And my point is still true...
I just think that the setting does not fit in with the features the game has.
Living on a stalagtite is a bit too far for me. Why not live on a simple round world? I realize the story would have to change but who came up with the stalagtite?
-
No changing the settings.
-
End justifies the means my friend *well mostly*
N00bscape and Eternal lands are a \"nice round world that makes \"sense\"* they also have
\"Tech me hw t0 m4kes sw0rsds 4 fghting plzkthxbyeBBQ!!\"
or \" I DSEISD IN TEH PK0rz AREA I SHoldnt havv bean n @s a newbie!! FR$%E# stuFfF PLZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\"
\"I\'ll trade you these leather scraps for that solid diamond sword of +1m cookies slaying!!\"
like i said.. not my idealic *yet* but damned if it isnt the best there is out there so far :D
*ok not much sense.. ok basicaly
Sucktastic|--|-----------|Planeshift
------------RS
Project Wish doesnt even have a tech demo yet so just play and RP.. the world isnt that imaginative *in a bad way* when your IN it... just when you spend your time reading about it *i kinda felt that way.. but it levels out in gameplay.. trust me ;)*

Here\'s a question, if you say Die to a NPC they sometimes respond by saying, and I quote.
\"If I die I will just reincarnate when I return from the Death Realm, so I don\'t see why that should give you satisfaction.\"
So how do we get rid of the Octarchs?
-
Imagination is the seed of our dreams. And dreams the driving force of our lives. To say something has too much imagination is to say one has too much life.
Without pushing imagination to its limits, everything would stagnate. Nothing new would be worth seeing, as we would have seen it all before, and it would have been dull and tarnished the first time.
If you saw into my mind, you would see that I do not look at this world as it is, but what it could be. What it will be.
What I am saying is no, I do not share your confusion about this. However...
@Cyrus Arckum> That is bit a bit of a conundrum right now. The death realm does indeed confuse me, and how it should apply. It is a nasty place controlled by an unknown and unnamed god, whom I assume to be neither Talad nor Laanx. It is less of a ?death realm? and more of a holding area until you get back out and return to your life. So my question is, did you really die? Does death mean anything? And most of all, what happens?or better yet, just plain out how do you die?once and for all? Does everyone just keep coming back till they die of old age? Then what? Can they still come back? Do they go somewhere else? They must, or they would keep coming back and the world would be over populated. Who would voluntarily stay in said nasty place? Why?? Well, there are far too many questions to write in this thread, and it is off the topic. So my answer is?I have no answer. Just go with the tides, and see where they take you.
And vote for the new Octarch. ;)

Well there is a thing as too much imagination when the pieces do not fit together.
-
Kiern, again, nails it.
That npc dialog is more of a joke imho.

Everything can come together if you add a little more imagination. Like I believe I have said many times before, \"anything can be roleplayed\". That is that anything can be explained ingame using the setting and world.

It is my understanding that the Death Realm may eventually be home to many dubious and so called \"evil\" alligned fellows. While it is unimaginable to us who do not fall under that category, I suspect that the Death Realm may fit their personality better than the land of the living.
-
Even if it is too imaginative, what of it? It makes the game for worth while. I personally don\'t see anything wrng with the settings, as far as I concerned, they are perfectly alright.
As for Death Realm, that\'s tricky...
-
I agree with you all, but to respond to the latest post made...
When things are too imaginative your character itself looses his place in the universe as you canot compare his power or lack of it to anything, except other players. Since this is a universe where anything is possible (I\'m just saying that the ultimate level of imagination is that)
Then there is no point of leveling your character cause who knows how weak you are in the end. There is no point to role-play for you shal fear the same insignificance that humans fear in real-life, which would lead to depression just as in real life. however the solution to depression in game sis to simply stop playing....
so that\'s what\'s wrong with being too imaginative.

Er, that makes no sense whatsoever. Last I checked, it\'s an MMORPG, meaning that many people play. Your complaints seem to have more to do with the number of players than with the environment in which they all play.

This is how all MMORPGs work - player versus player, stat versus stat, etc. But PlaneShift is different. The focus is not on player statistics and how high your level is compared to Greetok Humblebrog the Terrible. It is about role-playing and meeting people. It is about people coming together and having a good time playing a game they enjoy.
This isn\'t an \"I can kick ur a$$, lolomgz\" kind of game. Far from it.

This last point makes it seem like you feel that PlaneShift is too realistic rather than too far-fetched. So which is it? Is it too fancy free or is it too true-to-life? Make up your mind.

If that is really how you feel, then why on Earth are you still playing this game that is too outlandish and yet not competative enough for your liking?

I think you should read my post again....and again........and again. Sorry not trying to be mean, but I did post that this is in a world in which everything can be true. I did not say planeshift was this world. I was just responding to the previously posted question.
And also, I relate the game to real life in the fact that humans live in the world and play the game. Real humans to whom certain factors bring about mutual feelings no mater wether they are playing a game or lving in real life.
I don\'t understand the rest of your arguments, I have no idea how what you said relates to what I said.
What\'s the point of fighting amongst each other in planeshift. Its not a pvp game either. A role-playing game usually concentrates on PvE.
And I\'ll say again, I was not talking about planeshift before.
