This is Underthemoon\'s post, not Moogie\'s. Moogie is posting it in order to make the poll. :)
==================================================
*Arnigus Faymore once again waddles up to the fountain. He holds in his hand a proclamation. Taking out a small Sounding Gylph, so as all on the entire level can hear, he begins to read.*
Hear ye! Hear ye! Peoples of Hydlaa and the First level. Your time is now.
The polls to elect the new Octarch are now open! Cast your vote for your future, and the good of Hydlaa.
The Council has chosen Nilaya Kaeli, and Netrhys Tanhren (Seytra) to be your candidates.
Thank you for your time.
*Arnigus puts the sounding Glyph away and rolls up the scroll. The rest was up to the people.*
[ooc]Ok, people, this is it. Read up on the following threads and cast your vote.
Octarch Hopefuls (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=16349&boardid=15&styleid=4&sid=fdb99dbcadc22d1d68d32786e9aa9637) The Octarch Council Room. (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=16496&boardid=15&styleid=4&sid=fdb99dbcadc22d1d68d32786e9aa9637)
Note, though, that this is not an actual election. The winner will have no real power or duties. Nor will they have an official title. This is for role playing and fun only. Please announce the vote to others who are in-game. :)
-
Thank you Moogie. :D
*Update*The election is now over. Nilaya has won. Thank you all for participating. It has been lots of fun.
-
*walks over to the voting booth, nodding and smiling at Had who is valiantly protecting the small wooden fabrication coated in cloth*
Hmmm .. well for me this isn\'t such a tough decision.
*walks back out moments later*
-
Amheh pokes his head throught the door of the election hall. He has arrived early and as a result the room is quite bare..just a few villiage ladies decorating te walls with flowers and laying down some little canapes and hor d \'ouvres, for the people, to calm there stomachs when they come to que, in a few hours time.
Mumbling under his breath through gritted teeth...
\"Council has chosen....pffft.. Those two pathetic candidates will turn the population against itsself rather than unite it... These two girls have no idea... In proof... Nilaya the older and \"wiser\" one of the two didnt even bother to turn up!?.. Wiping the blood from his daggar, that is now starting to dry a little on his leather pants.
Amheh moves up to the frount of the room.. I wonder where she could be...Amheh says, inaudiably so that his voice can only be heard within his own head... Not here anyways..Not anytime soon.
Now at the frount of the great hall, Amheh throws the sack from his shoulder to the floor, mills around inside it for a while and from its great depths pulls out a box.. the exact replica of the other two boxs that are to contain the townsmen and womens votes..
Scratching his name into the frount with his small dagger. Then using the blood that was from his blade but now on his pants, he wipes it carefully into to his inscibed name on the box. It now stands out with an errie red againt the light colour birch tree from which the box is made....
Maybe given a choice the realm would elect him, without having to use force, cruelty or torture.....mmm an intreastng concept..And one that Amheh was about to try.
Turning behind him as he leaves glance at the 3 boxes side by side..Amheh feels he has done all he can so that he may be named as Octarch..Without killing half the population of which he is meant to lead to glory..
-
Ayshe stands at the back of the hall, trying in vain to decide between her two friends.
She sighs, realising that much of the morning has passed, and there was still much work to do back home. Time for the decision she had been avoiding.
Standing before the ballot, Ayshe pauses for the longest time.
She smiles. \"I am sorry, my friend. Best of luck to you both\" she says to no one in particular as she drops the slip into the box.
Moments later, Ayshe walks out into the bright morning sun, hoping she made the most of her difficult choice.
-
\"Money fer th\'poor!\" a dwarf shouts nearby, scaring off a few voters. He smirks in his dark corner, and continues to shout.
-
Greenwood enters the room, he smells of the sewer and is covered in rat gore. Seeing the three boxes, says to himself, so Am-heh is a candidate after all.
Greenwood drops his slip in the box with blood stain name on it.
-
*Hadarican, distracted by a smiling, very petty Klyros woman, did not notice Amheh?s actions. He finishes reciting a short poem to the lady and bows*
I would talk some more, miss, but my duties do not allow it. Good eve.
*He turns to see not two, but three boxes.*
Did you see who?
*He was talking to the woman, but turning, found her nowhere near. In fact, not in sight at all. Fool! You fell for the oldest folly. There is no bigger fool in the land? He sees a soiled man drop a slip in the third box, and sees that box contains Amheh?s name. Perhaps not the biggest fool. Shaking his head, he stomps to the third box. Though it looked like the others, it did not contain the hidden Glyphs ensuring a truthful vote. So the foul one thinks to sabotage the election even now. We will see. Had turns the box over and places it on the floor, so as Dwarves could more easily reach the real polls. At least Amheh was good for something.*
-
Cyl stepped in voted and moved away from the boxes, slightly amused by the third one
Ts, ts it seesm that one was quite careless
He glanced at Had
-
*Sangwa comes in. He laughs and says in a low voice:*
What a mess... Why go through all this trouble? They\'ll be bowing to her Magesty anyway...
*He leans against the wall and patiently watches the event as it unfolds*
-
\"So it is time to make my plan complete.\" *Thought John as he walked into election hall.*
\"Both the candidates are good, yet only one...\"
-
*drops his vote into a box and then nods at Had before leacing the election hall
OOC: lol John, are you saying you went through all this trouble just to make one of these ladies win? :P I don\'t think you would have said no to become an octarch, if you had won the election (neither would I) ;) that\'s just a theory, of course...
-
Nilaya wanders the election hall curiously, surveying the goings on. Somehow she felt the need to be present and available, if not planning another speech...talking at people is never as good as talking with people, right?
She sees a small wooden box being used as a stepping stool, and then spies the blood-red inscription...\"Am-heh\" upside-down? \"Wha-at...!\" she laughs heartily.
\"Awesome,\" she comments to thin air, still grinning cheerfully.
-
OCC @ TheRedMonk: I have left a lot of hints of my intentions, throughout all the Octarch threads...:P I wouldn\'t said no if I was to become an Ocratch...but was it really what I wanted?
-
hmmm well not saying anything about the two candidates I think both are very deserving, but I have to admit I don\'t like how John Thazer is putting it. Sounds a lot like fraude if you get people becoming part of the council to chose candidates not to become octarch themselves but just to make sure their preferred candidate has more chance.
-
(Sorry, I forgot to say I have voted already... I would\'ve made an appearance, but my character is currently unavailable... :) anyways, good luck to you both!)
-
The same dwarf from the day before enters, a wooden flute in hand. The dwarf plays the instrument and dances about, as some people drop a few tria.
The dwarf then goes over to the two boxes, and examines the number of vote papers in each. He frowns, knowing one has many more than the other, and decides to show pity to the other candidate. The dwarf signs his name, and drops the paper in the box.
And then the dwarf goes back to his business with the flute, not wanting to bother this massacre anymore.
-
An arrow smashes into the wall above the boxes, painted pitch black along its shaft, in stark contrast to the white paper attached to it.
Before a moment longs, a whistling sound could be heard, and another arrow impacts right above the black one.
It slit the bondings of the paper, and it twirled until it rested in the box...

Standing ontop of his box, at the frount of the hall, Amheh throws a pottery vessal on the ground which shatters, spilling its contents all over the floor...Scaning the room he see\'s he has everyones eyes on him....
Hear Hear,
I Amheh Devourer of millions, Second that motion...
I fear that this type of fraudulent activity must not be permitted or accepted within our council or by any of the realms peoples...
John you talk about ensuring that two \"good\", Candidates be elected but already that have been tainted by your blatent disrespect for the other councilliors and your fellow citazins of the realm...
I Call for a re-vote, one in whch I am named as a cadidate. I feel this is the only fair course of action.
Muttering to a couple of his surrounding friends, \" I honestly believe there was no foul play, just Thandar trying to make his hopeless political carreer seem like it had a goal and purpose...Which of course it had little both.\"
Jumping back down from the box, he picks it up and starts walking around the room with it, so that anyone scared by Had\'s vacant stare, would not be put off casting there votes....
Turning his head around at the sound of arrows stiking the platered wall behind him, Amheh catchs yet another vote as it floats down from where it was attached.
Nice one Depthblade, i knew i could count on you, the Diaboli thinks to himself.
Muttering to friends and ploting against enemies, Amheh talks to many is the busy hall, about there likes, dislikes and plans for the future... His box of votes feeling heavier as the day drags on...
-
As Am-heh tries to take the falling vote, another arrow flies through the air, and impacts between his outstretched fingers, halting his grab.
The vote settles into Nilaya\'s box as Darkshade walks into the room, his bow in his hand.
\"Nice try, Am-heh, but my vote goes for the person I deem worthy of the title \'Octarch\'. Which isn\'t you.\"
He gives Am-heh a dirty look what with the arrow between Am-heh\'s fingers
\"You\'re lucky I don\'t believe in unnessary hurt...\"
Darkshade removes the black arrow from above the vote box, then the one above it, the steel grating on the wall as the arrows gave way...
\"Try that with any other voters, and you\'d have me to deal with, not to mention Had.\"
Giving Am-heh a dark look, Darkshade walks quickly out the door...
-
Snapping the arrow in his hand, as if it were a toothpick. Amheh smirks back at darkshade who is trying to be intimidating....
\"Nice try Darkshade. Im less frieghtened of you, than young Had over there.... And he doesnt scare me in the least...\"
Casting a cheeky grin towards Had.
\"Take the Krans example.
Sample some of the fine food and hospitailty, that is on offer here today.
Cavort with some of the pretty girls and don\'t mingle in my affairs. For my good humour, can only last so long....
-
*Had lets Amheh take the box. No self respecting Dwarf would use it anyways. But This Amheh was beginning to make a disturbance of himself*
Amheh, if you wish to make the fool of yourself, I will be overjoyed to supply you with the tinkling bells for your ears and toes. Though I must admit you will have stiff competition from that Dwarf yonder.
*Had points his heavy staff at Uloim*
No? I thought not. You know as well as I that any vote entering that box of yours is meaningless. So I ask why you parade around speaking loudly of yourself to the wind? For I assure you, no one else is listening.
And now you speak of fraudulent activity? I saw what the Council?s vote was. Shall I repeat the names you wrote down? Particularly the name you signed as your own? I do believe the others in the Council would not be pleased at my words. Nor would you at their following actions.
So I ask you kindly, tend to your wound, cast your vote, and end this charade. I will not ask again. My next words will be the calling of the city guard.
*Had falls silent, hoping Amheh has the sense to let it be. Then, he feels something. Something familiar, yet strange. The same feeling he had in the Council Room. The unseen watcher was back again. But why did he feel such a kinship to this being? A kinship he felt only to other Kran and the Lemurs. But somehow different. Almost...opposite, but still the same. He scans the crowd, but sees nothing out of place. But the being was here...somewhere.*
[ooc]That was not an attack on the player behind Amheh, just so you all know. I find his ?interruptions? entertaining, and the player friendly and accommodating. The irritation and animosity are purely RP. :)
ps. I haven?t voted yet because I haven?t figured out which of my characters will be voting. Perhaps I will let Fate play its hand. Also, these elections will be playing some part in my third CoS story, tentatively named \'Chain of Souls; The Path of Fate\'.
-
OOC: As far as I know, John Thazer never spoke of his plan IC. He always said \"he thought\", so I the whole re-vote thing isn\'t very appropriate ;) Unless of course you read his mind...
-
His grin remaining through out Hads speech, Amheh seems completely unfazed by the krans proclaimation.
\"tsk tsk tsk Had i thought we had an understanding you and I.... Im disappointed... sorely disapointed, in your actions and harsh words, I shant be forgetting such insulting behaviour anytime soon.
His tone still heavily laced with mockery,
As for these claims about me marking my own name down as candidate...
Of Course, how could I not.
The thought of writing the name of another councillor, who in my eyes were inept and completely unsuitable for the position was something I could not bring myself to do....
Slighty more serious, his voice sounds as if almost being manpulated by another source..
When one has a vision, for his brothers and sister. When he feels that he must do all in his power to help advise and usher them towards the lives they want and so richly deserve.. The lives our people were intended to lead.
Over the years swayed from there true nature and course. I want to restore the spirt of our men and woman so that once again they may chose there own path, not bound by the confines of anothers rules and regulations. Blood must be allowed to run freely in our streets, the strong will survive, the wiley prospere..
I have said before I shall not be kneaded and moulded to take the form of anothers desires nor shall rules ply me from my path.
i\'m just making it apparent to all here, there is another alternative... You may call there voice worthless...Many of your sort claim that.
It is for that very reason i fight. However I shant interfere anymore with this part of the election today.
An errie silence over the crowd, Amheh throws his box of votes in the air. A small explosion and a puff of smoke...All those who cast there votes in Amhehs box, now have there votes returned to there pockets..This time it has there own name on it..With a small message that follows: Dont allow yourself to be swayed, continue following your path.
When the crowds eyes fall Amheh has disappeared..A few shaking there heads and smiling, know he wont be gone very long.
-
*Kwip walking in stops as he notices the crowd, the boxes, and a commotion... Having been out in the forest studying the scrolls of an ancient scholar he is out of touch with events. Thinking that this is some sort of new food ordering service he writes down his order and drops it into one of the boxes and waits for his food to be delivered*
Hadarican notices this and walks over to explain things to the mightely confused one.
*After having been appraised of what is actually happens Kwip sits on the floor and thinks*
An arrow just missing him passes over his head, and still he thinks...
A pot is shatered as some maniac tries to disrupt the voting, and still he thinks...
Dwarfs climb his back to reach the voting boxes, and still he thinks...
*At last as the day gives the watch to the night he stands. Walking over to the leafs of paper he grabs one, signs his unreadable name, and places the leaf firmly in the box that has writen on its side \"Nilaya Kaeli\".*
-
\"i\'ve been in the fields too long,\" steuben thinks as he looks at the crowds. he had heard of the election. but, he hadn\'t really been following it.
he stands, for a while, watching the crowds as they vote. he shakes his head a little. he heads of to the tavern. they both seem capable and deserving. able to call the best people to assist them in their leadership roles. either will fill the role to the best of their abilities. if not, there are many ways, within the system, to change that fact. but, steuben would serve them. by skin, steel, or soul as needs require.
he smiles grimly as he progresses on his way. sometimes, the cheapest price for freedom is eternal vigilance. a price that he was willing to pay.
-
Hearing of the election while on his journeys, Clover travelled many nights to visit the town he once called home and the people he once called neighbors, to support a dear friend.
Exhausted from the journey, Clover casts his vote for Nilaya and takes a catnap on the floor in front of the fire
<3 Nilaya :]
-
*Looks at Am-Heh.*
\"Perhaps it\'s time to silence yourself, my fellow. You wreaked enough havoc already, as it is. How many more insults do you have to send? How many more twisted speeches you have to give. If you so wish to become an Octarch, you will have to wait until the next time, like all of us, yes I shall enter in next elections. My plans are great and numerous, what ever you thought were my intentions, is clearly wrong.\"
-
Phinehas watches the proceedings, mixed with the usual threats and counter-threats. After a few minutes of silent watching, he thinks to himself, \"It would appear that Nilaya is going to win. That is good, although she still is not Octarch material. I should have known better than to try and mess with politics.\"
-
*Walks into the hall, unsure what to do. Taking a paper she walks up to the boxes and hesitates.*
{It just doesn\'t feel right...}
*Puts the paper into her ragged bag and shakes her head.*
{Ah, well, I can vote later, anyway...}
*Curiously she peeks into the boxes and notices that Nilaya has by far more votes than herself.* {Hmm... doesn\'t look like I\'ll be Octarch after all...} *Is surprised to not feel sad about it.* {Odd. I\'ve come so far... yet now I\'m back where I started.} *Shrugging, she almost feels like a weight is dropping off her, and a grin shows on her face* {Nilaya is a good choice, for sure.} *still grinning, she notices the food and helps herself to a giant portion, this time able to enjoy the well-tasting diversity* {It was a stupid idea anyway...} *remembers the visions she used to cultivate in the past, way before anyone was even talking about an election, and lets out a slight giggle* {Dreams... they always show the pleasant sides only. Nice, though...} *leaning to a wall, she drifts off into day dreaming*
-
OOC: What is the objection against someone joining for the votes and not the desire to become Octarch even if the motivation was OOC and not IC?
Becuase everyone can say just about anything about the motivation of his character. The point is that if this is allowed that friends sign up just to exchange votes. There was a seat free would you want me to have filled it by asking a friend and agree to exchange votes??
I think that kind of motivation should not be allowed and ruins the whole point of having clean and honost fun with the elections.
I also feel it\'s not fair toward the other candidates
IC:
*not pleased with the other acting as if it was Amhehs point including Amheh he walks towards Amheh with a flickering of anger in his eyes.*
I do not care for what Amheh voted nor do I care why he did so. He has his alignment and I am sure he did what he felt was best. If for Yliakum or his own election I would not know.
*having looked at Amheh still he suddenly turns his head toward Arnigus and fixes him with his gaze.*
But I hate to believe a conspiracy was made to make sure the \"right\" ones were elected. I do not mind the ones elected. My votes speak for themselves but there will not be a blamish on this election and this election SHALL be held fair or this election is nothing but a pretence and I garuntee you the guilty will be punished if suh a conspiracy is uncovered this I swear on the graves of my birthtown Aknara
-
During the mild ruckus a tall armoured figure had entered the election hall. He now stands in the doorway and lets his eyes wander around the hall, as if to look for a familiar face. Seeing that there is no line before him, he walks to the boxes and leaves his vote.
Turning around to leave, he thinks to himself: \"Wisdom and strength to the one chosen, for these walls have seen treachery before. And the last thing we need is another war in our hands.\"
On his way out, the figure steps on a pool of red wine from a fallen bottle. Those with keen eyes notice how the wine is repelled from Cherppow\'s white plate boots, leaving no stain at all. He exits the hall as quietly as he entered it.
-
Fire walks into the hall with an old voting paper and quickly selects Nilaya, then vanishes into the night
-
humming a cheerful melody, Demarthl skips through the doorways of the hall weaving between citizens in the crowd
as she passes through, showing signs of acknowledgement to friends and other known citizens she smiles, noticing Nilaya giving every ounce of effort to the community.
Demarthl stops skipping and begins to slowly walk, pulling a roll of parchment from one of her satchels she casts a timid fire spell singing the parchment into a fluent pattern of her name surrounded by patterns
Demarthl then places the parchment gently in one of the three boxes, looking at the other two, she whispers to herself.
\"one, still young, she must experience life her own way, she does not need this pressure. The other a steadfast troublemaker out to increase his own power and greed, does not deserve such respect\"
Demarthl smiles gently, takes a step back and stretches, her hands behind her head she walks back towards the doorway humming the same cheerful melody
-
OOC: Let\'s clear this now...I was going to become an Octarch, but obviously in case I wouldn\'t have (which is the case now), I had a back-up plan..of sorts...
-
Ok, folks, the poll is scheduled to close this weekend. If anyone has a problem with this, please tell me and I will see about pushing the date back. Make sure everyone you know has been notified so no one is left out.
Thank you all for voting!
-
*Efflixi walks around only to see chaos between the two hopefulls and the others who won\'t let go of the fact that they have already lost.*
Well, I just stopped by to hand a letter written to me by one of the people who may have become your new leader.
\"Greetings Efflixi,
I too have major concerns fr voting anyone into a position that may be used to influence me, even though the position of Octarch has no pwer at all.
It is for this reason i have run for Octarch myself for if i am Elected ,(highly improbable, unless the darkened souls of the world unite).
If i am elected nothing shall change. Except our kind will De treated with respect for once, and i will try to turn others away from the \"light\". Which i already do... Evil must try and stick together for our common good..\"
That letter was sent to me by Ahem, oops, I mean Am-Heh. *grins*
Now, do not expect the intentions of either of these two candidates to be pure. Of course one has more pure intentions than the other, but, it is up to you now to decide which. Either way, your lives will contiue hopelessly as they always have. Leaving you no choice but to fight for food and money.
*begins pacing around the room*
But, ofcourse this Octarch deal may be the biggest scam ever commited by a greater government hidden inside this \"democracy\" you people speak of. Do not be surprised if your Octarch is nothing more that a placeholder to make it seem liek you actually control a part of the government. All living beings are corrupt and selfish, expect nothing more from the ones that lead you.
-
A Kran walks through the door and votes. Looking at each box, the Kran sees that the one box has nearly twice as many votes as the other.
\"Hmmm... this is really one-sided. Is that a good thing?\"
the Kran mutters... \"Maybe yes maybe no...\"
[seriously, the election is one-sided, the ratio is 2:1, not very fair, if it was more even, then we might have a more heated election, but I praise Under the Moon for his work. Now if only other games had people as devoted as the ones here...]
-
*Arnigus takes up his voice enhancing Glyph and steps to the fountain. His chubby face beams with delight in the light of the Crystal. Delight that the election is finally over, delight that no one has been killed in the process -especially himself. But mostly, delight that there is a new leader to guide the people and protect them. He raises his hands for silence.*
Hear ye, people of Hydlaa! This day, this joyous day, we can put aside the cares and fears of the dark days gone past. This day we look upon the future with hope instead of doubt. This day we are given a new Octarch!
Be glad and rejoice on this day of days. Be free with your happiness! Celebrate and be festive, knowing you are in good hands.
The hands of Nilaya Kaeli! Your new Octarch!
*Arnigus puts away his Glyph and waddles over to where Netrhys leans against a wall. He can\'t decide if her expression is shock or relief -or perhaps a little of both. He puts his hand on her shoulder.*
Good run my Lady. You may have won against any other besides Nilaya, but you knew that, didn\'t you? I commend your courage and fire. When you have the age and wisdom to temper that, you will truly be a force to be reckoned with. Until that day, believe in yourself, for you did not come this far on luck alone.
*With that, Arnigus wanders off into the crowd. He badly needs a nap.*
[ooc]THAT\'S IT! The election is now over. Nilaya has won. Thank you all for participating. It has been lots of fun.
I have made a special thread thanking everyone in GD.
*edit* @Seytra> I didn\'t forget about it, I just didn\'t have Arnigus mention it. I did think about it though. Think of it as a gift...something for you to RP about in the future. It is yours. :D
-
*has been listening to Arningus\' speech with increasing anxiety. She had spied into the boxes, but things could have changed. Maybe she hadn\'t looked careful enough. Thoughts and feelings were tumbing around in her mind.
Then, finally, Nilaya was announced Octarch. Had she still been hoping to be elected? Had she feared to? She had assumed she had regarded the election as being done, so why did she still feel about it?*
{It\'s over...}
*As Arningus comes to speak to her, she pushes back the thoughts and feelings she is trying to order and make sense of, listening to his words. When he finishes, she just nods silently. Only when he has vanished into the crowd she remembers the necklace she is still wearing. Looking around, she cannot see him and then shrugs.* {He said something about it losing it\'s power, anyway...} *grins as she actually looks at it for the first time* {It may have lost it\'s power now, but it does look nice...}
*after examining it for some more moments, she turns her gaze to see where Nilaya is, using a quiet moment to congratulate her. She then turns to leave, grinningly snatching some good helpings of the food on the way off*
-
Um...Nilaya, have you gotten any of my PMs? Just wondering. :)
-
(OOC: Yep, sorry, Under the moon. Got every one of them. I\'ve been absolutely swamped between finals at school, and two jobs. Spent whatever time I have left roleplaying with Netrhys in-game.)
Heart racing, Nilaya hops lightly atop the fountain, for one final speech to end the elections. It is rather obvious that she is in a mild state of shock.
Not having one of Arnigus\' fancy voice-enhancement glyphs, she addresses the crowd as best she can.
\"My dear Hydleaans! Thank you...\" She hesitates, seeking words, then continues: \"You\'ve put a great deal of trust in me today...and I have a lot to live up to. So, rather than making an empty promise, even in good faith...I tell you...I will do my very best. You can be sure of that. For I come not simply to rule by my own will, but to serve.\"
\"Speaking of...I have a few announcements.\" She begins to grin broadly. \"I refuse to be alone in this endeavour. As you may know, several of the Vigesimi passed away or departed along with our previous Octarch. So, today, I appoint three new Vigesimi: Ayshe Alchamet of the Feline\'s Lair...Tybalt the Red Monk...and Netrhys Tanhren.\"
\"Please welcome them with me!\" Nilaya applauds, followed by the crowd. \"Also, \" she adds with a sly grin, \"I\'d like to commend Hadarican for his faithful service during these times...should he be available, we\'ll definitely have a position open for him.\" She giggles, sparking some in the crowd to laugh a bit too.
\"Many thanks to Arnigus, who saw this ship through some rather rocky times. He\'s done a wonderful job with these elections. I do not believe in holding the Octarch position for life, lest power corrupt even the purest of hearts. So, there will be a new election in no later than five years.\"
Soon her face falls. \"On a more personal note, I realize I must leave the Explorers... In my stead, Karyuu Muattaleel shall lead the Explorers. The very spirit of the guild is within her...I could ask for none better to carry the baton. Karyuu, you have my full confidence!\" Tears begin to fall from her eyes, and she becomes a bit shaky.
\"Again...thank you all. I\'m incredibly honored, and humbled by this day. May our level ever prosper!\" With that, Nilaya hops down from the fountain, to monumental applause. (Ahem.) ;)
-------------------------------------
\"K...kary...\" a spotted figure trembles, lying on the ground of a secluded part of Hydlaa forest, positively cold. \"I...oh...\" She sits up, and looks around, dazed. \"I...I\'m...an octarch?!\"
\"No,\" a gruff male voice replies simply. Startled, Nilaya jerks her head in the direction of the voice, spying a figure covered fully in a long black robe. She stares at him, speechless. \"But...but he died...and there was an election...and I...\"
\"Died?\" the man interrupts. \"Are you feeling well? There was a touch of plague, sure, but he was quickly healed. Been back in action for weeks.\"
Nilaya cocks her head slightly, tiredly. \"...but...\"
\"Nilaya. I\'ve been watching over you the whole time. Nothing happened.\" Nilaya frowns. \"Yet you\'ve been out cold for hours. I\'ve been worried.\" the voice says, slightly softer.
\"...who are you?\" Nilaya finally manages, awakening more fully. The man chuckles: \"You\'ll find out soon enough. But for now, rest.\" With that, he hops to a higher rock, drawing twin shortswords which glint in the morning sun. \"An octarch, eh? What a nightmare. Not even your father would\'ve been that crazy. But don\'t worry. You\'re safe...you\'re free.\"
Nilaya stares off into the forest, a relieved smile slowly crossing her face: \"I\'m...still free...\"
-------------------------------------
OOC: I don\'t know about the rest of you, but I had a blast! Thanks all! :)
-
He he...excellent wrap up. Couldn\'t have done better myself. Hadarican a leader? Wow, never saw that coming, as he was black-listed by an Octarch from another level for a poem he wrote about the man\'s unsightly wife.
I will surely be using this \'dream\' in \'Chain of Souls III\'. You have given me the perfect opportunity. ;)

Standing towards the back of the crowd, Ayshe cheered and clapped with the rest of the citizens packed into the plaza. Such a wonderful day for Nilaya and the city! The cheering continued unabated as Arnigus made his way across the plaza.
Ayshe turned to Keder and hugged her tightly, not noticing the uncomfortable look that momentarily flickered across her guildmates face. Keder couldn\'t help but grin, swept up in the raw enthusiasm of both the crowd and Ayshe.
A hush fell over the crowd. Ayshe turned to see Nilaya standing atop the fountain, arms raised to address the people.
\"My dear Hydleaans! Thank you...\" called out Nilaya, to a spurious roar and more clapping. Ayshe could barely hear what Nilaya was saying, but could see it was being recieved most excellently. She grinned at her scowling brother Jityshe, whose eyes could not hide his obvious joy at Nilayas appointment.
A momentary lull in the hubbub allowed Ayshe to hear one particular sentance.
\"...I appoint three new Vigesimi! ... Ayshe Alchamet of the Feline\'s Lair...\"
Head whipping back towards the fountain, Ayshe said \"Wha...!?\", eyes wide. She stood there, mouth agape and ears flat as she was patted and backslapped. Someone took her by the paw and vigorously shook it. Stunned to her core, Ayshe stood and stared at Nilaya forming words she couldn\'t hear across the plaza, blocked by the pounding of blood in her ears. Her mind repeated the words over and over again. A Vigesimi! One of the score of civil servants under the office of Octarch and a position of authority and dignity.
\"Oh no...\" muttered Ayshe. \"I\'m gonna have to start being respectable\"
Smirking, Jityshe walked over and straightened Ayshe\'s shirt, picking at imaginary dust on the silk. He bowed gently. \"M\'lady\"
Ayshe whimpered.
Suddenly she woke, with a startled yelp. She looked out her window to the bright midday sun beaming down on the street outside, suspiciously absent of banners proclaiming a new Octarch.
Rubbing her head, she muttered to herself \"Going to have to cut down on those late night tavern crawls...\"

Fire walks up to Nilaya and pats her on the back, well done my friend
As the sun goes down Fire walks off into the orange glow and vanishes

OOC: A dream?? Whats that all about? My character is doing stuff and other people decide it\'s all just a dream? I mean come on someone is flaming me for having them go through a window when even others say that they practicly already said that but it is OK to turn my character into a figment of someone elses characters imagination?
What kind of roleplaying is that? when in the end it didn\'t even happen?
I think I made pretty clear I don\'t like this at all and I shall not cooperate with this kind of \"it never happened\"
-
OOC:
It\'s been made clear that this was mainly for forum entertainment value, just something to do. I doubt that all stories that go into the RP section of the forums are actually carried out and remembered by characters in-game, so I don\'t know why this cannot be a similar case. As we asked you (OOC) in-game, Pestilence, how would you have continued this? What powers would you have the Octarch take, and how would you go about making sure that the decisions of the Octarch will be enforced? It is an impossible task, at least at this stage of the development.
All in all, you may not \"cooperate\" with this ending, but I can guarantee that there will be those that will look at you funny for mentioning an election at all ;)

This is only a test. If this were an actual election, you would be asked to go to your nearest Circle Palace and pledge sovereign to the new Octarch.
To make myself perfectly clear, we are not trying to appoint a permanent Octarch. At this time, we are only role-playing the election itself. Once the election is over, any RPing that is done is out of my hands. Perhaps a future election will have further rules for a ruling system, but not this one.
Note: This plan may change at any point before the actual election takes place. Also, as of yet, there is no set timescale for cycles.

OOC: With that said...
Darkshade opened his eyes slowly, taking note of the surroundings...
He was in a forest, he was sure of that, but which forest?
He had vague memories, of an political event, and he stored that away for future reference.
\"You\'re awake...\" a voice out of the shadows exclaimed.
Darkshade whirled, only to see Sefron, grinning, with his hands above his head.
\"Where are we, Sefron? Is this one of your jokes?\" Darkshade demanded from the assassin
Sefron laughed, and lowered his hands.
\"No, this isn\'t one of my \'jokes\' as you put it. We\'re in the forest near Hydlaa, if you must know. And I believe someone you may know is nearby\"
Sefron grinned, and pointed through the trees
\"If you want to see her, she\'s through there...\"
Darkshade paused for a moment, and narrowed his eyes
\"Are you implying something, Sefron? Like with what my dream had to do?\" Darkshade rested his hand on his bow, a vague threat.
Sefron\'s eyes never stopped gleaming
\"Perhaps. Perhaps it was all a dream, or maybe not, you\'ll never know.\" He laughed, and continued \"Only certain people, will ever know the truth, about dreams, about reality.\"
Darkshade glanced through the trees.
\"But... why are you here? I thought...-\"
Sefron cuts him off
\"I came here to sample some of Hydlaa\'s goods, friend, no trouble intended.\"
Darkshade considered that, and walks towards the trees
\"Oh, and Darkshade...?\" Sefron called out.
Darkshade paused, but did not turn around
\"Consider one of your debts repaid, friend.\"
Darkshade half-turned, stopped, and continued walking
Sefron watched him go, before he commented to himself
\"What he confided to me, is still not done...\"
Sefron lifts a simple object, with a few names scrawled on them...
\"A pity...\"
Netrhys Tanhren...
\"They still don\'t know...\"
Ayshe Alchamet...
\"And... My duty still stands, Darkshade...\"
Tybalt the Red Monk...
\"As if I shirk duties, bah!\"
Duke Ordo...
\"More names... And more to do... I\'m going to have to give up being an assassin!\"
Meriner Seraphim...
\"Still...\"
Arnigus...
\"I\'m not like the others...\"
Nilaya Kaeli...
Sefron twiddles the amulet. between his fingers
\"I still remember, Had... And I will furfill that promise I made...\"
Sefron pockets the simple amulet... Then he whispers on the wind...
\"I swear, on the Liatran, those on the amulet I carry, shall be under my protection... For as long as I can...\"
He disappears into the shadows...

Darkshade stubles into a clearing, with light shedding through the canopy. He looked left and right, but saw no one.
But then, he spotted a white cloaked figure...
\"Nilaya? What are you doing here?\"
He looked at her sitting on the ground, so peacefully, so free...
\"I think we should get back to the other Explorers, Nil...\"
He offered his hand to the sitting Enkidukai.
\"I believe I know my way out...\"
OOC: EDIT\'d for fixing mistakes...
And, to actually show what Sefron\'s true purpose was, and what he will continue to do.

@Pestilence> ;) No one ever said it didn\'t happen. It is just a path that Fate would not allow to happen. We all understood this going in, and since Nilaya won, she has earned the right to end it how she sees fit.
I will be continuing this story near the end of \'Chain of Souls; Path of Fate\'...or perhaps replaying it would be a better description. There was a reason for the shadow cloaked figure on the roof. ;)

Well in the future be more clear. I reread the opening post and nowhere does it state that it\'s going to be just for fun. It even states people are encouraged to roleplay in-game.
How will someone enforce it? Enforcing wont be possible but roleplaying I see many possibilities I would have liked to try out. Sure the Octarch would have no force as in having the guards round people up, but he would have the power that other people gave him/her. What true power do guildleaders have? None besides kick you out the guild. Still people listen to them when they are a member of that guild.

\"Damn!!\" Keder swears as she awakens. \"Even in my dreams i can\'t fully conceal my lack of trust\"
Bitter, Keder Maloy climbs down from the tree and begins to make her way to the guildhall of the Feline\'s Lair, still cursing herself for her inability to trust those she is closest to.
She stops short, aware of something watching her. Carefully listening and feeling, she tries to discover her watcher without moving. After a few unsuccessful minutes, she shrugs, assuming that it is only her own fears getting the better of her again. However, in the brief pause, her mind also wandered back to her dream.
\"Something feels ... off ... about this dream...\" she mutters. \"Almost as if it wasn\'t a normal dream...\" Keder resumes her walk back to the guildhall. \"Perhaps i\'ll tell Ayshe about it. If nothing else, it will ease my mind. Trust or not, she\'s been a good friend and ally since i met her. i should trust her. She\'s given ample reason to trust her by her actions the first day we met. It has now been around six months and in that time she\'s never done anything to void that, and time and again give more reason to trust her.\" Keder drops to her knees crying. She screams to the heavens, \"WHY CAN\'T i TRUST ANYONE!!!???\" Then she turns and runs on all fours deeper into the forest.
A several minutes run past where she slept the night, Keder stumbles and colapses, still crying. Perhaps an hour later, she looks around herself. Still in the forest, it looks like any other part of the forest with one exception. There is a small cave nearby. Grimly, Keder gets up and walks to the cave. \"Appropriate,\" is the only thing keder mutters to herself as she enters the cave and curls up, still crying, and drifts to sleep.

OOC: Nilaya won and thus deserves to decide the ending, like Moon said. But why is everybody else waking up for a dream as well? You mean that you all dreamt the exact same tream or what? Thats...surreal :D
-
OOC:
Indeed, it was a dream that grew from the minds of many ;) Premonition, maybe?
-
OOC:
Aye. I, too, think that the dream solution is the best way to go about it, considering that there is no way to follow up on being actual Octarch. This way, we can have it ingame without actually affecting it unless people wish. I had no solution to this dilemma, so my hope was that it would continue with the RPers. Indeed, the dream interpretation surprised me, but after thinking about it for a while, I welcome it as the solution that is less troublesome. It still preserves the possibility of RP.
IMO, each and every char that has participated in this, be it by voting, campaigning, deliberately not voting or whatever, would have participated in the collective dream. It would not be a figment of one single char\'s imagination. Everyone would have done what they have done, just to find out that it was an unusually realistic dream that, moreover, was shared with the exact persons in the dream.
It has that certain mysterious touch that makes legends.
-
The way I am personally going to treat this is that it did happen....but then it didn\'t. It was not a dream, yet everyone perceives it as one. And just as a dream does, this will soon fade from memory...for most people. The lucky ones. Surreal indeed.
On another note; Whoot! Arnigus\'s estranged father is still alive! Should make for some interesting conversation if they meet.

The light is dim when keder awakens. She looks around and sees the small cave she cried herself to sleep in. \"Why can\'t i learn to trust?\" keder askes herself. She knows painfully well the answer, but not a way to change it.
keder crawls out of the cave and straightens up. \"Talking with Ayshe will help. Jityshe simply views this as a weakness in me, and i can\'t blame him. i agree. But his rather gruff \'Get over it\' answer doesn\'t help me.\" With that, keder begins walking back toward the city and the guild hall of the Feline\'s Lair.
It is well into the night when keder reaches the city. She stops and takes several deep breaths. Feeling a little calmer, she forces a slight smile to her face and enters the city, heading for the guild hall.
Before keder reaches the third building, she has lost her calm and dives for a shadow. Cursing herself under her breath, she then climbs to the top of the building and makes her way to the guild hall unseen from rooftop to rooftop.
On the roof of the Feline\'s Lair guild hall, keder finds the window to Ayshe\'s room. Remembering Hart\'s instruction, keder carefully lowers herself upsidedown above Ayshe\'s window and uses a small mirror to look around Ayshe\'s room. Seeing only Ayshe there, keder tosses a small stone with a paper wrapped around it.
Ayshe hears the stone hit the floor and shakes her head. \"Keder, will you ever use the main doors?\" Ayshe asks without even looking. \"Yes, i can talk for a bit. Come in. You and Hart, always keeping to the shadows...\" Ayshe chuckles. \"At least you have devotion to your skills.\"
keder releases the rope and turns a half circle as she falls, landing lightly on her feet, almost without a sound. Ayshe\'s ears twitch, \"You made sound? Keder, what\'s wrong?\"
\"Trust still eludes me,\" keder said flatly. Looking at the floor, she then proceded to tell Ayshe every detail of her dream, up to Ayshe hugging her and her flinching. Crying again, keder interrupts herself, \"Even in a dream i can\'t trust anyone... not even you Ayshe.\" keder looks up for the first time since she started her tail. Quite surprised by the look on Ayshe\'s face, \"Ayshe, you look like you\'ve seen a ghost. What\'s going on?\"
\"I had the same dream...\" is Ayshe\'s reply
