The most reliable source right now is download the torrent file (you\'ll need a Bittorrent client such as the official one, Azureus or Bitcomet)
Using the server\'s isn\'t recommended, they\'re slow and there have been cases of corrupted downloads.

The Bit Torrent file only exists for the Windows version.  If you\'re trying on OS X wait until the new version is uploaded because the current one doesn\'t work.  If you\'re trying on Linux and you can\'t download it you\'re going to have fun compiling it.

Compiling on linux is very easy, particularly if you follow the guide.

That said, use a distro with a decent package management system - ie yum/apt-get.  I would not like doing it on slackware.

If you are looking for the server, I don\'t think that there is a compiled release.

All info you need to download the client is here:
http://platyna.xpam.de/planeshift/

After download compare the file size with that listed on site to make sure your download is not corrupted.

Regards.

If the file -is- corrupted, is there anything to do other than re-download?  This took several hours even with a cable connection using a download accelerator.

I guess there\'s nothing you can do.
For integrity reasons files only include CRC wich can say if the file is corrupted or not (well it can also say that a file is ok while it isn\'t but that would be an uncommon case) afaik there\'s no redundant information added as to be able to rebuild the file to its perfect shape.
My opinion is that you\'d have to redownload again, but wait for other opinions.
