Title: no sound (openal)
Post by: BERiLOMOSE on June 02, 2005, 03:24:05 pm
Hi,

With the new version of Planeshift i have no longer sound?
Console:
...
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.sound.render.openal\'
planeshift.application.client:
  PlaneShift Crystal Blue
This game uses Crystal Space Engine created by Jorrit and others
  0.99 r0 [Unix-x86-GCC]
  Warning: Cannot initialize iSoundManager
...

I searched my old and new planeshift-installations for openal, in the old (3.009) is a \"libopenal.so.0\" and in the new (3.010) is not. Is the new version compiled without openal-support?

Is there a possibility to get openal-sound without compiling the sources new? I tried it in past but i failed.

Distri: Fedora 3

Strange thing is that if i start pssetup i hear a sound/noise if i click on a button, since i selected openal there.

I'm having the exact same problem.

No need to worry, many people got the sound turned off simple because it is brainwashing to listen to the same background music all the time

Not all people agree to that, Nividia.
Anyway, I think this is caused by simply bad OpenAL support in Crystal Space.
That problem should be fixed in the near future, though.
