This is for any of the mac people with the same problem and the people who know how to fix it.
Planeshift client has unexpectedly quit.
ps udater has unexpectedly quit.
I found out that this problem is a bug.
I am just wandering how to fix it.
I updated everything and still get this problem.
-
if you used chaos\'s updater then do the following steps
open terminal, type in \"cd\" followed by a space, then drag your planeshift folder into the terminal, press return
then, type in:
./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient
hit return, planeshift should run now, please look at other threads before posting, there are questions like that that have been answered already, or simila quistion...
EDIT: please refer to the post \"A Guide to Running Planeshift on Mac OS X\" all amswer you need is there

where can i find the terminal on my mac then. i have been hering all these answers but didnt know what terminal meant.
-
go to your hard drive (defult name is machintosh HD), then go to applications, lok for the ulilities folder, in that folder you will see the terminal, double click it
-
i still cant find the hd do i look at the very top or bottom. thanks for your help.
-
hd, thats your hard drive, its in the upper right hand corner of your desktop
-
If you hold the appley key, the shift key and the \"a\" key at the same time the Applications folder will open. From there to go the utilities folder and then terminal.
-
Or download and run my latest app, PSClientCMD (from your Planeshift 3D folder). That\'ll launch PS for you.
EDIT: You can find it here (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=14416&boardid=32).

i downloaded your client it starts up but then it unexpectedly quits. It does the same thing like on the old client. do u think if i go through the terminal will it have this problem.
-
You need to make sure that you\'ve updated (use my updater). Then you need to run my application PSClient.jar from the Planeshift 3D folder by double-clicking.
-
I\'ve download and chmod the two .apps.
I\'m able to launch psclient.
But at logon screen I can input any characters. What\'s with that?
I\'ve edit the planeshift.cfg file to at least throw my username on the screen but I still can\'t interact on the screen so I can input my password.
Edit: I launched psclient via Terminal. I\'ll do a search on my posts...I\'ve had this problem before but don\'t rememeber now what I did to resolve it. If not, I\'ll download the files again and try again.
-
Hrmm... That\'s odd. I haven\'t had that problem. I didn\'t actually log in, but I could interact with the screen. Check the console perhaps. And if you\'re running in full screen, try windowed mode.
-
Are you launching from command line or gui?
One possible problem with commandline launches is that if the application\'s bundle is corrupted, input gets sent to the console instead of to the application itself (well, at least keyboard input...)
-
This will *probably* also happen if you use my PSClientCMD app, as it basically simulates running a command from the command line (though I\'m not sure what it does with keyboard input...). However, that app isn\'t necessary anymore: I\'ve relinked the vfs file. See the first post of the Guide.

yes my problem is that they both unexpectedly quit when opened, but me having a mac os x 10.1.5, am not sure if i am able to use the .jav thing that you have requested i use. when i try to open \"updater.jar\" nothing happens but an icon in the dock appearing (multiple if clicked multiple times) i expect that its because i have an older mac version ?? but im not sure. can my computer not open .jar\'s or what? this is annoying and i would like to know what i have to do in order to play this game.
-
I\'m sorry, but I haven\'t tested under 10.1.x, and because of some differences between 10.2 and 10.1 it is possible that it just won\'t work at all :/
You can test the new full download once Talad has uploaded it to the mirrors (since all the levels have been slightly modified, it\'s not that much bigger than the latest update.. well.. 170MB vs 270MB...) but I doubt you\'ll have much luck.

Yes, Java 1.4.1 is the minimum version for my apps and that requires 10.2. As dfryer said, though, you can try the main release. If it doesn\'t work, you\'ll have to upgrade (which is worth it anyway, trust me ;) ).

No offense meant, but perhaps you ought to have all of those sites on the web who advertise your game (including Apple.com) change their information from 10.1 compatible to 10.2 before people like me waste their time and fill up hd space with a 319MB program they can't even use. I nearly posted about my problems getting this thing to run, but I see there's no need. Thanks.
