Title: Want to volunteer
Post by: treorai on June 03, 2005, 01:37:27 pm
Feel free to move this if I posted it in the wrong place (you\'re going to anyway, even if I didn\'t want you to).

I do 3d landscapes.  If you need someone to make maps for new areas, I might be able to help out.  Let me know the specifications of the areas (format, size of the area, etc), and I might be able to lend a hand.

The only problem is that I am best at land formations...  Not so much objects on them, but I hope that I could still be useful.

I might not, depends on what is needed (mostly on the format part), but I\'d love to help.  PlaneShift is awesome, and I want to help you guys expand the game.  Killing rats in two cities gets a little boring after a while.  Let\'s make it so that we can kill rats in three cities!

Why do you have to be 18 to contribute to the game?  I\'d like  to help out, but I\'m too young :(.  Does Planeshift need any help in the music department?

Legal issues.
Help is and will always be needed in all departments. ;)

It\'s also true that they have already made exceptions, so if you probably show that you are extremely necessary to the team and you have the agreement of your parents, they can consider you.
Otherwise, it is better to not bother to try that out, it would be a waste of time for both parts.

if you are well talented in the field you want to contribute to and you are commited to PS cause then age won\'t matter. If you keep adding some good things to the game you\'ll earn respect. and someday you\'ll join the team but:
: Think about expanding the game rather than thinking for joining the team.

18 is not a diehard limit. If you are someting useful to PS then why do the devs ignore you?. BlueCommand, ps Want To Be Member was about 16 when he entered the team.

As far as I know you don\'t have to be 18 to contribute to the game, just 18 to
be an official team member.

Regards.

Correct observation, Platyna.
And yes, it is for legal matters that it is like that, that\'s why if you are that talented and needed you need your parents authorization.

No, I\'m 17. But as AryHann said, you have to get your parents to sign any docs if you\'re a special case. (Then you sign the docs again once you\'re 18.)

I would like to join if i could, but if i cant what i would like to see is a list of WHAT THE HELL THE DEVS NEED! At the moment all i know that they need in regards to 3d models are \"everyday objects\". What kind of everyday objects? How can i know if one object has been done before? I wouldnt mind simply contributing, but its good to know what exactly they want you to contribute.

You should contact Talad for receiving a task, after he has seen your portfolio. I mean, he has to know that you are worthy to try and then he will try you out telling you what to do and how, I guess!

I am not a member of the team, so I don\'t really know which is the procedure for 3D artists, but I would think to contact Talad directly.

or you could go on irc and ask a dev if they could give you a test assignment.

you probably get 3d art assignments by going to the lead 3d artist, who is someone.

i\'d like to contribute on a regular base, not be part of the team.
(thats almost the same, but in law it isnt)

i agree wil nilrem that there should be a list with things wanted, just here on the forum.

You can contact talad to get modeling tasks directly as AryHan said. He models for PS and he\'s the leader of project so it\'s good if you find him.

I see him online every night at 1:00AM (GMT+5) and he also replies me with my questions. So if you are really serious then contact him.

ok. but the reason i cant be member is that i cant spend 1-2 hours a day to ps, i also have my own live!..

I don\'t spend that amount of time on PS and I think everybody is free to spend the amount of time they think it is necessary to spend on PS or whatever.

Everybody HAS his OWN life!

rosmerelmer: This project is free. you are not bound by deadlines and time you work for it as much as you want. Some times devs have plenty of time and they work very hard in that time.
On other days they are very busy that they cannot come online. So it all happens, all of us have personal lives. Most of members have realtime jobs and they given PS time even in that case.

It\'s on the helpus page on main PS site. One of 10 Reasons to join the team.
\"5: Unlike pro games, no commercial constraints such as money, time, or schedule can stop us. Only our own quality standards and talents determine how far we can go.\"
