Title: [OLD] Screenshots!
Post by: Uloim on June 04, 2005, 10:29:00 pm
Searched for a screenshot thread... and oddly didn\'t find one!  So, I\'ll post two.  It\'s raining outside and I\'ve nothing better to do, so... here ya go!

Yeah, I know... the pics are really empty, especially the bottom one.  But, they did only take me like 10 minutes to make. :P

If you have screenshots you want to post on the forums, you might as well use this thread. :)

A VERY weird storm.

For a few seconds during a rainstorm, (UPDATE YOUR CLIENTS TODAY TO SEE RAIN!!!) the world became blue.  Then, it later became red!  This is an unedited picture, besides the text in two corners.

I never got a proper screenshot of it from above, and you wouldnt be able to do it anymore, would take a hell of a long time to mine and transport this much gold now:

Those first two don\'t seem possible at all. Usually I\'m ecstatic about such discoveries, but I\'m a complete skeptic in this case. I don\'t think one screenshot per location, for such an amazing feat, is enough to prove anything. Maybe if you do it again and take at least 20 with different camera angles ;)

It\'s way too easy to edit.
Title:
Post by: Keyaz on June 09, 2005, 07:14:07 am
thanks to Zoom on image editing programs, and resize, we see this is actually fake, nice try, had me foold for a minute

as you can see the dpi for the image is a lot higher then the dpi of the kran, which is badly pixelated

the former picture was a closer amount of dpi and is trickier to pick out, but still indeed a fake :)

The pixelation which you point out occurs in any picture with characters that are far away.  The further away it is, the worse it is.  Zoom in on Drey in Ecolem\'s picture, and you see the same thing.  Notice how the area around the figure is pixelated as well- not just the figure.  (Especailly in the second picture on the temple).  If i photoshopped it, only the figure would be pixelated, not the area around it.  Its to do with cal3D, and how it draws the screen, i gather.
Ill go back up tonight, and take pictures of me on the statues from 20 different angles.  Shame i didnt do it earlier, so much damn effort. >_<

There\'s still quite a bit of difference between that and the first shot, but I\'ll move on. Ignoring the fact that the Laanx tower is vertical, and ignoring the fact that it is bottomless if glitched through, and ignoring the fact that pressing keys is no longer enough to make you glitch through walls (though taking screenshots is, I\'ve learned from elsewhere), and ignoring the doubt that even if you manage to glitch through a tower wall, the insides are no longer sticky enough to support hopping up... I don\'t buy it. Especially when this took you, supposedly, 105 minutes, but took hours longer in MB, glitching genius or no.

But I\'ll be waiting for your other screenshots ;)
Title:
Post by: ramlambmoo on June 09, 2005, 08:28:10 am
Yes of course its changed since MB, im obviously not using exactly the same methods as back then am i, else it would have taken alot longer, assuming it still worked, which it dosnt.  Your point about the screenshots is interesting, im going to have to experiment with those.. i hadnt heard about that.
Title:
Post by: ArcaneFalcon on June 09, 2005, 08:49:33 am
People, it\'s called jpeg fuzz (a reduction in quality from the compression to .jpg format).  It doesn\'t make it any more fake, or real...not that I want to get involved in this.

Of course.  I would not dare to deprive somebody the thrill of finding it themselves, when it has given me so much joy.  Its the journey, not the destination that counts.

On another note, i figured a way to make a virtually un-cheatable screenshot: when you take it, select your character, so the red selection thing appears at their feet: its almost impossible to photoshop, unless you have way way way too much time on your hands.  If someone does one from three different angles, with the red thing at their feet everytime, then rest assured they probablly did actually do it.

Title:
Post by: Uloim on June 09, 2005, 07:29:08 pm
Yeah, why?  I didn\'t get to see them... :(

EDIT: Wow, I didn\'t know the statues were really THAT big!  I\'ll have to try and climb them sometime...

Eating precious geocities bandwidth.  They dont give you much, and i have a proper site which i host there anyway.  So i just left one there, the best of them.  I\'ll rehost them somewhere proper if someone really wants them, but meh, effort.  Effort < Good.

That\'s the default texture (I\'m pretty sure anyway).  The game throws it in whenever it can\'t find the texture it\'s looking for.

My first post in the Fan Art section; my first posted sceenshot.

By the by, I love your shots Uloim, how do you get the the chat menu and even the arrow thingummy for the buttons to disappear?  And do you know any (preferably free but ok if they\'re not) programs to modify and edit screesnhots for Mac OSX?  I used Appleworks paint applicaion to put my character name on the screenshot; Appleworks is nice, but.....

Post by: Uloim on June 23, 2005, 09:04:50 pm
I removed most of the things by clicking their icons, and in some screenshots I cut off some of the screen, which included the arrows.  I just use photoshop... you could probably use paint.

When I first entered this underground cathedral, if you will, I truly noticed for the first time how beautiful the graphics in PlaneShift are (especially considering it\'s a free game  :] ).  This scene was also my first inspiration to start taking screenshots.

Okk.. For one thing, don\'t use the /screenshot command...

Use the print screen button on your keyboard :P

That means you can close the chat window, the stats window and everything else and just hit the button...

Hrm.. I would tell you what to use for images, but apparently everything I use is windows only  :\\

You should be able to crop out the arrow in paint, though.. Even mspaint lets me do that :P

Post by: Rumley Benson on June 26, 2005, 11:14:10 pm
I\'ve now set a shortcut keyboard command for /screenshot, which works perfectly.  And as far as modiying the shots, Applworks paint application is actually pretty good, so I\'ll stick with that for the time being :) .
Title:
Post by: Kiirani on June 27, 2005, 12:38:11 am
-.- The keyboard shortcut saves your screenshot in bad quality .jpg..

I use print screen because it preserves quality, then save as .jpg with a nice image editor..

I recommend Snaps Pro (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/). It\'s not free, but most good things aren\'t. It is shareware though, so you can try it for 30 days free of charge before it\'ll stop working (watermark after 15 days). $29 US for still captures only, or $69 US for video captures as well.

These pictures, painted on canvas, were found in the forest, in a burned hut.
We can see two persons standing in the water. Were they taking an ordinary bath ? Or was it some kind of ceremony ?
We will never know...

in your ps install dirtectory look for the screenshots folder, locate the screenshot, remember its name.

go sign up at photobucket.com or imageshack.com
upload your photo there and paste the given link to it here, its advised you only link urls if the pic is over 800 x 600 in resolution, be friendly to the 56k\'ers ^^

Well... not quite :P Right now you\'ve linked to the login page of your photobucket account. After you upload an image, below it are provided three separate links: One without any code, one with HTML, and one with BB Code, with [IMG] code. That\'s the one you paste onto the forums for the image to come up.

Title: Mountaineer's diary
Post by: Wired_Crawler on September 01, 2005, 10:23:55 pm
Dear diary!

My supply of herbs becomes exhausted. Best spots to collect them around Ojaveda are occupied by terryfying monsters, like trepors and consumers. I have to search for other places to refill my reserves.
Three days ago I decided to check, if I can find any herbs in higher parts of landscape, those stalagmites towering above ojaveda road looked promising. To warm-up a bit I started with the lowest one. Reaching the first ledge was quite easy. I have found only some mushrooms there.
(http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/1909/s127ts.th.jpg) (http://img128.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s127ts.jpg)
(Image2 (http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/8030/s116hf.jpg))
I have finally managed to reach the top. Again - only mushrooms grow there, no herbs at all... I looked at the other stalagmite hoping, that maybe there I would have more luck...
(Image3 (http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/95/s138xa.jpg))
(http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/6977/s145sz.th.jpg) (http://img118.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s145sz.jpg)
(Image5 (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/7111/s151ia.jpg))
The next day I prepared myself better, as the slopes of the next stalagmite were steeper. I ascended both ledges without much trouble.
(http://img332.imageshack.us/img332/5057/s214py.th.jpg) (http://img332.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s214py.jpg)
(http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/7877/s223xd.th.jpg) (http://img340.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s223xd.jpg)
The peak was very hard to reach, I stood on it very tired, but proud. I have found nothing interesting there though, only solid rock. But the view... The view was worth all of the effort.
(http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8215/s235yt.th.jpg) (http://img243.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s235yt.jpg)

(http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/9140/s250qm.th.jpg) (http://img129.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s250qm.jpg)
(Image11 (http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/5404/s268ob.jpg))
Yesterday I tried to explore one more stalagmite, the one, which connects to the stalactite hanging from the ceiling. Climbing was very hard. I have only managed to reach second ledge. Mushrooms grow there, I could not find anything else...
(Image12 (http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/7426/s311hn.jpg))
(http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/1925/s327eg.th.jpg) (http://img92.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s327eg.jpg)
(http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5005/s331xm.th.jpg) (http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s331xm.jpg)
Higher parts of the stalagmite were too steep to continue without better equipment. I\'ll try again in the future, maybe I will find somebody to help me ?

Post by: Nilrem on September 12, 2005, 05:28:06 pm
I didn\'t know if I should open a new thread, since raining has become like a special event in Yliakum (even more when the colours are not corrupted :P) The other day we enjoyed a foggy and stormy day in Yliakum, for those who missed it, I took lots of screenshots, and, I experimented with a fusioning program so you should be able to immerse more in them, since I tried to make them panoramic.
Don\'t blame me, I\'m just a robot that has arrived to Mars. Enjoy the views:

First the plaza and temple, notice how the fire looks :)

Plaza and temple, again, but from above:

(http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/2682/panorama22um.th.jpg) (http://img365.imageshack.us/my.php?image=panorama22um.jpg)

The statue, facing it from a theoretically safe location (yes, rain goes through buildings :D Except Kada\'s, obviously, a dermorian was involved in its creation)

(http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/4062/panorama37fk.th.jpg) (http://img365.imageshack.us/my.php?image=panorama37fk.jpg)

Finally, Hydlaa, seen from the top of a roof.

(http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/4159/panorama41pn.th.jpg) (http://img365.imageshack.us/my.php?image=panorama41pn.jpg)

I\'ll simply add two more, for today, since I really liked the fire effect in front of the temple. Here you are:

(http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/5787/shot569yz.th.jpg) (http://img365.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot569yz.jpg)

(http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/7295/shot572yd.th.jpg) (http://img365.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot572yd.jpg)

Comments on the pictures, specially those panoramic ones, are welcome, it\'s the first time I use such a program, so tell if the resulting image lacks of resolution or whatever.

I\'ve more pictures, that are too lovely, you don\'t know how great things look when mixing \"darkness bug + fog + rain\" :D

See you all ingame.

I personally don’t see that as littering (its worth trias and hp so I’m sure you would) as long as you clean it up after.
But NO objects that have the Dwarf model

This is a magically altered wall. It is a one-sided window, allowing you to see through it from one side while looking like a conventional wall from the other side. It supercedes the version in which the entire wall would be invisible from one side that forced you to either remember the exit or to feel your way back out. In addition, it looks nifty now, though the swirls should in the end be animated, be not in sync accross segments and have some low-volume sound. :)

@ Suno_Regin: Thanks. :) It is a highly personalised skin made to match my character. Almost all of the actual graphics work has been generously and nicely done by Crimsonsky (I took her up on an offer she unknowingly implied :)) ).

You will have to upload them to an internet server (there are several free image gallery servers, e.g. \"ImageShack\" - read other peoples\' image addresses), and post a link to the uploaded image here - either with the URL or with the IMG tag.

More details in this thread (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=19560&boardid=10)...

And, BTW: Nice to see you as a new board member here.

:O Oopsie... - Sorry for underestimating you, Dylia.

The naming of several starter ranks was criticized before, if I remember well (\"lesser\" for sounding \"less important\"); but \"Guest\" as a registered rank is ... :baby: \"no comment\"! ;)

Title:
Post by: LigH on October 24, 2005, 12:29:06 am
The stars are just one more visual grouping of the number of posts in this board.

Only moderators and admins/devs may have a slightly different kind of rating \"medals\".
Title:
Post by: Dylia on October 24, 2005, 12:34:11 am
I did read though the ranks in help but fear I am easily confused .... it does not explain what the ranks mean so what you did just say made not much sense and in time I am sure it will or at least I hope
Title:
Post by: LigH on October 24, 2005, 12:41:58 am
The ranks are just a grouping of \"number of posts you submitted to this board\". I\'m not sure about the exact numbers, but you may be

- a \"Guest\" (1 yellow star) for 1..9 posts,
- a \"Lesser Hydlaa citizen\" (2 yellow stars) for 10..49 posts (or similar amount),
- a \"Hydlaa citizen\" (3 yellow stars) for 50..99 posts,
- an \"Azure watcher\" (4 yellow stars) for 100...

We are getting very off-topic, I\'m afraid.

From Brintec Dev-Onni you can get a few (few different colors for Stonebreaker males, Ylian males, Ynwnn females). Unfortunately, the selection is not yet too diverse. But the grayisch \"black\" is better than the full black.

Still - I would prefer chestnut brown (like Percival Hawthorne).

Halvord, be sure - there are trustworthy people. Learn about the guilds and their intentions first. Then you will spot fast who you can trust.
Title:
Post by: Halvord on November 02, 2005, 12:48:57 am
I\'m sure there are.  More trustworthy people then shoddy old Runescape, at the very least!
Title:
Post by: TheMinority on November 02, 2005, 02:22:04 am
true. there are more trustworthy people... but then again you have to take in to account the number of players per game.

planeshift has, on a general day, about 80 people playing (average). if there is, say, 30 trustworthy players, that makes the ratio 3:8

now on runescape, on a general day, there is about... ohh, let\'s say 2800 (number of free worlds last time i checked multiplied by 1000 per world. this is obviously far less than actuality, but work with me, here.). and there would probably be around 400 decent people, the ratio being 1:7.

and, evening those out to make it easier to understand: we have 21:56 to 8:56. that\'s 21 (planeshift) to 8 (runescape). don\'t you just love math?

therefore, planeshift is only more trustworthy based on number of player ratio

however, you must throw into account the fact that there are not many items to scam, which will also make money less valuable (since you can\'t really buy anything). the only things you can do that are even scam-like are lying about duels or telling some newbie that ulbernauts are wicked easy. this factor will raise the number of trustworthy players (by lowering the number of untrustworthy players).

when planeshift has more items and more things to do, no doubt the number of cheaters/lyers/scammers will go up. but, as in the real world, there are always those kinds of people. i personally think they add to the realism, though i don\'t condone their behavior. you can\'t have good without having evil, for if evil we lack, then what is good?

this lesson has been brought to you by the letter G.

To end this intolerable situation, I will repeat my impassioned plea to the Devs (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=17817&boardid=11&styleid=3&sid=8f669f24ffb73c842307634dc50fca63) , for the installation of a toilet, bathroom, outhouse or latrine.

Great Creators and Gods of this world, we beseech you to provide a means to deliver our sewage to the sewers.

End the cruelty, I beg of you.

Halvord,

Sucks that some people can be so lame. If it makes you feel better it goes both ways. The other day I logged on to test my new GUI and since the monsters are all impervious I asked for somebody to duel me, but not fight me, so that I could check that the stance buttons worked properly. Some asshole, I dont remember his name *cough*Lyine*cough* accepted my offer and challenged me to a duel. I accepted and before I could even click any of my buttons I was dead on the street. After returning I did find somebody who kept thier word and the buttons did work. Anyway, I guess to keep this on topic Ill post a screenshot of said GUI :D

Well, they cannot be race independant. After all, they are genetic hair dyes. How else would they last a lifetime? :)

The GUI looks good. However, make sure that the text remains readable by retaining good contrast. Also, as has been mentioned on the fanart thread, the stop attack button is problematic for it\'s size. Not so much because it looks out of place or like it has a very different purpose, but because it looks like it is merely decorative, and also the click-sensitive area should be equal to the size the button occupies, so that one doesn\'t have to guess positions, especially with buttons as important and usually clicked in a hurry. Also, I would much prefer the info window to be a lot more compact and horizontal so that it can be placed at the lower part of the screen.

As for The Talad screenie:  I\'ve seen the double Brintec, but no Talad to go with it. :)

Well, the stop attack button is the yellow hand in the middle of the shield. Its not big, and there\'s no guessing where it is once you know. I looks good and is functional, so i dont really consider it an issue. Its not a button that us warrior types use wery often anyway :D fight to the death!

I plan on doing a minimalist GUI next time around, I suspect it will be fairly popular because a lot of people seem to want one. gotta do one thing at a time though :(

That\'s the issue: it\'s counterintuitive. The shield doesn\'t even look like a button. But it\'s your skin, and thus it\'s your decision, I was merely saying what I think should be improved.

Meteor? Meteor? Inside a cave? Well, it\'s magic, but... anyway, it should leave a crater. :)

It could fall off the cave ceiling... As long as it isn\'t called meteoroid :P

But after rock of such size hitting Hydlaa, the city wouldn\'t be the same ^^

...a lot of people have commented on meteor making no sense in the cave environment of PS...

Ultimately, it makes sense.  Meteors can create caves.  Plus, it\'s safe to assume there were living creatures around before the current time in PS...who\'s to say they didn\'t drag in some rocks?   There\'s also the fact that hail (those big rocks of ice) are technically meteors.  Meteors are simply any object that fall or are suspended from/in the air.

So...  yes, meteors make sense in PS.

Yes, but they don\'t originate in caves, but in outer space.

The International Meteor Organisation defines fireballs as being meteors of magnitude -3 or brighter. The meteor section of the British Astronomical Association on the other hand has a much stricter definition, requiring the meteor to be magnitude -5 or brighter.

If a meteoroid survives its transit of the atmosphere to come to rest on the surface, the resulting object is called a meteorite. A meteor striking the Earth or other object may produce an impact crater.

Dragging them in, throwing them off the ceiling (which isn\'t possible since there aren\'t major cracks there according to the settings), rocks breaking off the ceiling or hail (which can\'t exist in PS either, since the height of the atmosphere is minor and temperature high above will be higher than below, in contrast to the earth\'s atmosphere) can\'t classify as meteor.

However, the explanation for the name (as it is a spell which creates a meteor-like effect as opposed to making some asteroid change course, enter the planet\'s atmosphere and hit where the target is) could be in Yliakums history: the crystal is called \"azure sun\", because the concept \"sun\" travelled to Yliakum with the settlers that originated from a planetary surface. They had a culture there as well, so they were around for a while, and thus certainly witnessed several meteors there, thus creating such a spell and giving it that name would be a result of knowledge of ancient legends. The original creator of that spell would therefore likely have been a historically inclined person.

Meteor | Me\"te*or |
 n. F. m\'et\'eore, Gr. ?, pl. ? things in
the air, fr. ? high in air, raised off the ground; ? beyond +
?, ?, a suspension or hovering in the air, fr. ? to lift,
   raise up.
   1913 Webster

    1. Any phenomenon or appearance in the atmosphere, as clouds,
      rain, hail, snow, etc.
      1913 Webster

Hail, an ordinary meteor.             --Bp. Hall.
      1913 Webster

   2. Specif.: A transient luminous body or appearance seen in
the atmosphere, or in a more elevated region.
      1913 Webster

            The vaulty top of heaven
Figured quite o\'er with burning meteors. --Shak.
      1913 Webster

   3. A mass of stone or other substance which sometimes falls
to the earth from space beyond the moon, burning up from
atomospheric friction and creating a brilliant but usually
very brief trail of light in the atmosphere; also called a
      shooting star.
      PJC

Note: The term is especially applied to fireballs, and the
masses of stone or other substances which sometimes
fall to the earth; also to shooting stars and to ignes
fatui. Meteors are often classed as: aerial meteors,
winds, tornadoes, etc.; aqueous meteors, rain, hail,
snow, dew, etc.; luminous meteors, rainbows, halos,
etc.; and igneous meteors, lightning, shooting stars,
         and the like.
         1913 Webster

I meant meteor\'s in this sense.  It wasn\'t until more recently in history that meteors became to mean almost exclusively \"rocks from space.\"  I\'m a bit of a linguist, so I\'m quite confident in this.  I was using hail in my comment as an example of the number of things that are technically considered meteors.

Alright, this explanation does make sense. Using this definition as explanation for the spell\'s name, however, would not make sense to me, though. If you have that definition, and create a spell from it, it is unlikely that you\'d end up with a rock falling from the sky in a flare of light. You would much more likely end up with hail, wind, lightning, etc., assuming these actually can form in Yliakum, which I don\'t think (save wind). Even more so if you are not aware of the existance of the rocks from outer space version of \"meteor\", after which the spell clearly is modelled, given that you\'re inside a cave.

well, rain and clouds could, theoretically, be plausible. with the warm, moist air rising to the top, it would condense on the cool rock above. some could condense in the air to form clouds. the water that has cooled on the rock, however, would simply fall back down. hence: rain. hail could also work,  the moist air condensing into clouds, then freezing and falling back.

lightning would be something more difficult to explain.

Some inhabitants of Yliakum remember snow from before entering the underground (as stated in the setting), so I don\'t see why it couldn\'t be so with meteors... Actually, the spell might be something completely different than meteor, but since people would find it very similar to what they experienced on the surface, they might name them after those :)

But this is off topic.

Up until now I am unable to recognise the char creation as part of the setting, as it has absolutely no interconnections with it, and most importantly, has no foundation there. In fact, it could just as easily be an alternative setting entirely. In fact, several things in it, like the naming / descriptions of the months, seem to contradict the spirit of the settings.
The term azure sun, OTOH, is in the original settings and therefore undeniably connected (see below).

Yes, that\'s what I was trying to say with the post before my previous one. The previous post merely said that the definition of meteor as presented by spydirweb would be way too broad to, on it\'s own, give rise to a spell like that, especially if developed inside a cave.
I agree that the term / inspiration for the spell \"meteor\" can be a remainder from the first settlers who came from a planetary surface.

If the ceiling isn\'t exactly horizontal, then the condensing water would not fall down but instead run down, at the underside of the ceiling, and thus form \"rivers\" that run along the ceiling and then down the walls, where it eventually meets ground level. This can be observed in cooking pots.
Given that the ceiling is by no means even, a different scenario would be possible, but has an important implication:
If the condensing water forms a river, it\'ll encounter the uneven surface and follow them to the nearest point that is lowest. That would be spikes hanging from the ceiling.
From the tips of these, the water would fall down, as it has no other way to go.
Result: instead of rain, which would fall anywhere within the region with the same probability, there would be distinct places where water falls down, and not in form of distributed drops but instead of a continous trickle or even flow. This is just like in normal caves, and the reason why stalactites / stalagmites form: water containing lime dripping from uneven spots, leaving some of the lime, which then forms the growing stalactite. With condensed water, no lime would be contained, thus no stalactites would form, but the water would still drip down in the exact same places all the time.

AFAK clouds form because the upper atmosphere is cooler than below, inhibiting the water from rising higher. However, I don\'t think that the upper atmosphere in the cave would be notably cooler than at ground level, given that the crystal would directly heat it. So all water would reach the cavern ceiling, condensing there as above, or be dissociated by the crystal (which is a problem, as that would mean that air is dissociated as well, eventually burning all the atmosphere of the planet, unless it\'s merely split into individual atoms that would eventually reconnect (high danger of hydrogen explosion unless ventilated very well)).

So the only thing I can see forming would be ice spikes but neither snow nor hail nor real rain.

Indeed the most common way for lightning to form (water particles in clouds) doesn\'t work AFAICS. There are other, much rarer ways for lightning to form, though (dust particles). An interesting effect would be that lightning would not only strike ground, but also the ceiling and the walls.

Ah, now I see what you were referring to. Yes, the \"meteor\" comes into existance when a rock enters the atmosphere. However, the entering of the atmosphere is what makes a meteor, because a rock that merely falls, started from within the atmosphere, does not create the visible trace, thus no meteor. That\'s what I tried to emphasize with that line.

Yup, which is why the following paragraph deals with the uneven surface:

It is simply impossible to create a very slight fog (to simulate light scattering) inside buildings, that makes everything darker than expected, up to the point where textures become almost indeterminable.

Had some fun today taking a group of players down to the dungeon to do some recreational mining.  Mostly newer players, which made it fun.

Post by: Jinkeen on December 12, 2005, 02:00:03 pm
We grouped around 50 players yesterday..it was much fun.

We even had a synchronized spell casting team.  We hunted Ulbers.  We shunned the \"green names.\"   It was one BIG party.  You were either \"in\" or you were \"out\" and \"out\" was no place to be.

Hey I was busy helping a noob and already grouped..but i did stay in the group and was one of the last 6 to leave so :P

Yeah I would like to hunt Ulbers but I am stuck helping some people again..be nice if they\'d read through the manual once before they log on.

Nice comic Radiant  :D

But I want to clearify something:

Rilars soul got separated in the fight against Hagarath while attempting to rescue Lolitra.
This happened one or two (IG) days before Alhana attacked Zorbels.
So his soul was already in the DR before Alhana brought Zorbels there.
Which is also the reason why it was possible for him to interfere that \"easily\".
Title: Thanks

Radiant Memphis you did a wonderful job on the comic, I am both honored and very impressed. :D In a sense when Alhana called to me and marked me that day in the DR Rilar\'s soul played a big part. He tried to save me even though he could only do so much. Thank you all for playing parts in the role play...I had great fun that day...

To radiant memphis

Why do people always put \"fin\"? Its gotten to the point where its not even original anymore. Just put \"The End\" or \"End\" or find out what it means in Russian. It doesnt even fit in at all with the concept of your comics. Im sorry I just think it is way overused. Great job on all of your comics though! Seriously though, \"the end\" in russian would be sweet.

Thanks Ligh for the picture :) and for the sarcasm :P

Today, I went far from Hydlaa to check one thing, and turned to see the city. I forgot to take a screenshot but it would be something similar to this:
http://i1.tinypic.com/mhsrpx.jpg (linked due to big image... and it isn\'t really important to see it, just to put yourselves in the scene ;) )

As there was noone around, I kept looking at the city... kind of searching for inspiration... and I concentrated on the laanx tower.
And while doing that I wondered to myself:
What may Talad (err... lemurs) be thinking about when they designed the laanx tower?

And I suddenly felt hungry.

Thou Shalt Not Run This Game With 16-bit Color Depth...

This may be the reason that your labels have a blue background; with 24/32 bit it shall be correct.

Will do that :P

Who will be king now? Meriner was king first, but have you become the new king of DR? Let\'s decide by the good old and traditional duel...

/me is making up the rules: \"No magic, no tricks, no cheating, no crashes and wipes, no spitting, no venom, no ranged weapons, not too less blood, not to much either, no shouting, no flying, no allies, no bricks or piano\'s, no schoolstuff, no hairballs, no axes, no daggers, no swords, no clubs, no weapons at all, not this, not that, not etc...

You think you got that? Good, then let the duel begin!

One way is to use not the game as 3D engine, but developer tools for a preview.

As you can clearly see by the blue line between hydlaa-plaza and hydlaa-jayose: This is a \"collage\" (compilation) of different pictures.

Another way could probably be: Compile your own PlaneShift server, make youself a Top GM there, and place your character high above. Still, you will not see everything, because of a technology called \"portals\".
