Is there a newer CVS date than 2005-05-18 12:00:00 that\'ll compile? PS ran fine yesterday, but today it seg faults every couple of minutes. Heard there was an update for the binary installer version, wondered if that meant there might be newer code I could use.
Will the build guides always show the most recent buildable CVS dates? If yes, I realize that this negates my first question. Regardless, I think it would be a good thing.

Well, I used 2005-00-19 as date, without a time (so it would use 00:00:00). 2005-05-18 12:00:00 didn\'t compile on my machine and when I repeated the checkout with the new date I saw that half the files were missing.

Last Linux installer update was not Planeshift client update but update if installer
files (in this case helper files) to increase performance of that build (3.010).
Planeshift binaries included in the installer are compiled using CVS source from
19.05.05. So, if you can\'t compile them the reason is probably by your side,
since I could compile them without even one target skipped. The netversion of
Planeshift client had been changed at 23.05.05, so theoretically any CVS source
before 23.05.05 can be connected to the official server.

But will any source before 23.05.05 compile, assuming no problems on my end? Teffy valley has become seg fault valley . . .

I may only tell that 19.05.05 will compile fine, since I have tried this one.
Anyway, you have to run the updater to get recent art anyway because there
are two issues which may cause crashes:
- flame01.tga bug - if you have this file in art/effects you have to remove it
- lacking icons for some items, then you have to run the updater.

OK, thank you. I know that things would be a whole lot easier for me if I would just use the binary installer, but I\'m under the confines of a 56k modem, so it makes much more sense for me to update some source code whenever a new PS version comes out then to download a new 250+ MB file each time.
PS: I updated my art, as you suggested, and the seg faults are gone.
/me slaps forhead for not trying the obvious before posting to the forums.
Thanks, Platyna.

I believe you need to slap yourself one more time, harder, because you have
missed the fact that there is an update for the people who has art from older
versions of Planeshift available at http://planeshift.xpam.de/ which is only 35 MB.
Regards.
