Ok, so we don\'t have a moon or a sun, but presumably there\'s a sun and moon above the crystal. So why are nights always so dark?
Especially on one of my older screens, which is slightly craptastic. After 10 pm, it\'s pitch black.
So, why not have moonlight? Put in another way - make it so that instead of things going near pitch black at night, make it so things aren\'t quite as dark, but put everything into shades of blue.

How there can be sun above azure crystal if stalactites are stuck to ceiling of
the cave? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalactite
Regards.

Greetings everybody !

From Player Guide:
\"3.2.6. Measuring Time
The Crystal draws its light from the surface and thus Yliakum is subjected to times of \"day\" and \"night\". However, even at night, it is not completely dark.\"
Hmm... Are You really the Game Master ? ;)

Overview of the known world.
Yliakum is located thousands of meters under the surface inside a huge excavated stalactite, hanging inside a cave so huge that it could contain any kingdom of the surface.
Regards.
-
The crystal itself probably reaches the surface to draw sunlight, but the world is in a cave

It does not change the fact, that sun (whatever it is) is located _above_ the Crystal. There is a surface above the Crystal, and there is a sun above surface => sun is above Crystal.
Let\'s skip it, there is no point in arguing.
This is \"wish list\" forum, I think the wish _is_ reasonable and should be reviewed by devs (and gods ;). On the other hand - I\'m not experiencing such deep darkness at nights. Should the thread rather go to tech forum (support for adjusting brightness/gamma correction) ?...
Cheers.

Well, I think that wish is not resonable unless there is a giant and deep hole in
that cave ceiling right above the stalactite where is Yliakum located. ;)
Regards.

its also un mentioned that the surface light is so unbearable to any lifeform that it will singe them instantly to death, and as it is a different realm, you only die once and never return!
the light from the surface is refracted billions of times and reduced in power as it reaches the cavern, so were safe, unless someone digs a hole!
nah im just joking :)

Where do you think the light comes from? Not the crystal. The light goes through the crystal from the surface from an unknown sources, presumably a very powerful sun.
Platyna, you might know your stuff, but I really think you\'re out to lunch on this one.

It depends on how the people imagine how the world is built...
I always thought the Crystal could be seen from the surface and from Yliakum, so that the light can come through. Other people might think of a crystal that\'s just stuck into the stalactite and doesn\'t reach the surface and so they ask themselves how the heck does the light come down here and some of them think the Crystal itself erradiates (hope it\'s right spelled) light.
So don\'t blame people like that, since it all depends on imagination... although if people thought of it again... and tried to find a possible answer for it... Oh and remember, this is a magical world! :D

Or maybe we might find out that this stalactite is on Earth and Humans are making experiments and made a huge research thingy right on the Crystal and built a huge light and energy emissor above it...
Surface -> Scy-Fi world; Yliakum -> Fantasy World :D :P

The Azure crystal you see stuck to the roof of Yliakum is actually a very long pillar that reaches through the crust of the world and stands very tall on the outside, like an immense crystal column. I\'d show you the picture but I don\'t think I would be allowed to.
The Crystal absorbs sunrays from above the surface and filters it down through the rock into Yliakum. It\'s very possible that it may also filter moonlight, if infact the world has any moons.
-
Yes, the world doesn\'t have to have a moon(s). Therefore, no moonlight :)

Ya know what would have been interesting? Two suns of differing color and size. Then the crystal could have changed color whether it was morning or evening. And difering seasons could have come from the suns alining in different ways.
Does this make any sense?
On a differing point on the subject of light, can Yliakum have rainbows?
[[The above contains random thoughts from a crazy person. Read at your own risk.]]

I think, since rainbows are simply the refraction of light and separation into different color spectrums through water droplets, they would appear in Yliakum as well. Because there is light and rain, but if they \'d look the same as here on earth depends on the type of light that is emitted from the crystal. The colors could be in a different order or completely different at all perhaps.
As for nighttime, I haven\'t found it to turn completely dark at all. Actually I don\'t even think it turns dark enough at night. Of course me being a creature with nightvision that might explain it but I thought nightvision wasn\'t implemented yet.
Either way complete darkness is a bit unplayable unless we create portable lanterns, etc. which might be a nice idea.
So option one: At night it turns completely dark, except for those with night vision. For the others you either have to stay near any light sources like campfires or crystal lanterns or you have your own portable light source, with limited range of course. This would make it so that at night everyone with a lantern or torch has a limited range of view, in a sphere around the person where they can see. While others out in the dark only see the carried light source as a point. This could make for some nice ambush planning and stealthy attacks.
Option two: It never turns completely dark but the crystal either lets through light from the surface moon or has some sort of minor fluorescent properties allowing it to store some sunlight during the day and emit a dim light at night. That way all creatures have a limited vision even at night, away from any light sources.

I want to have a torch!

lol
UndertheMoon, I dunno if you know exactly what you said but it\'s really interesting believe in me.
Because, if the light come through a crystal, the light should turn into a kind of rainbow... so there is a little problem with the concept...

but off course, you can say the crystal has a perfect form... but wich one... I m wondering... maybe a sphere? no in fact, I dont remember wich one...

Then I am sorry under the moon as you seem to be out of luck if there are no moons :(
