Post by: Nightrogue on June 17, 2005, 06:37:14 pm: Well, I guess many of you will know about my attempt at making a 3d planeshift logo, which now resides at the top of this screen (thanks to Talad, Moogie and everyone else who contributed!). Seeing as that turned out so surprisingly well, I am going to try a similar project, albeit on a smaller scale. Basically I am going to try and create a logo for one of PlaneShift\'s many guilds. Which one I dont know. If you are a member of a guild that doesnt have a logo and needs one, or has one but wants me to add an extra dimension to it, please post a reply with information about your guild as well as any ideas about what sort of logo you want. While I dont expect to recieve many requests, if I recieve more than one I will make a logo for the most established of the requesting guilds. I will require no payment for this, ingame or otherwise. I am by no means a master artist, but I can usually get something to look pretty good if I spend enough time and effort on it. If I make something that is not exactly to your guild\'s standards, please inform me of the problem(s) and I will try and improve it. For those of you who need a time estimate, it could take anywhere from 1 day to a week or so to complete, depending on how many modifications I have to make to it.

P:S. The guild logo will most defiantately be better than my somewhat lacklustre sig, which i made in around five minutes (sword model excluded), so please dont use that as an example ;)

Although the Arcane Order specializes in the differently colored ways of magic, logos generally have a unifying color theme that is pleasing to the eye. The purple of the main text and light blue of the supporting text isn\'t a good idea - either use true analogous colors, or something complementary, as right now this creates an unnecessary tension. Make sure the text stands out a decent amount from the background, too. There are areas where the current purple blends too much into the cloudy bg. I would also recommend staying away from the \"plastic wrap\" look of the text, as it is usually an incorrect way of pointing out the direction of the lightsource. At least here, the light seems inconsistent.

That background could work if you fix up the text some, but currently it\'s a distraction. Personally I think the former one had better qualities, though it could use some work too.

Very interesting to see the evolution of images, regardless :)

to sum up the idea, the background\'s stealing the attention, so you don\'t really see the message, you see the background so you\'ve to make an effort to really see what\'s this \"banner\" about.
Make sure the customer\'s don\'t have to think too deeply on what you were trying to advertise :P

Robinmagus... how much are you willing to pay? :D :P

Alrighty then....

First thing I notice about that, is the font clashes with the background terribly.. It could be nice in a different colour, or perhaps with a different colour font..

My suggestion would be to make the background a slightly different shade.. And make the \"Arcane order\" colour match the blue one below it, perhaps using a slightly darker blue..

Then, the six stones in the middle look a bit out of place, one of them is showing off purple instead of white, as I think it should be... Maybe make them reflect the background less, or turn up the light in the middle to surround them?

Also, I havea thing about images with no borders :\\ It needs a border..

it can be seen in your sig :P

Kiirani is right (not about the border), but the font color and the background are too similar... one needs to be changed.
