gronomist, kada already HAS a shop named after her. ;) She has a fansite of planeshift called Kada\'s Tavern. it\'s very well put together and is a very good site. Check it out at http://thebbb.tk. A lot of us spend as much time on her forums as we do here. The tavern ingame is made in the image/honor/whatever-u-want-to-call-it of her site. just letting u know. :D

Kada\'El is a former developer, the tavern model is somewhat based on the virtual tavern she made, as such it is called Tavern Kad\'El (if i remeber correctly), it is by no means favoritism...She has been around for ever, and i believe now is helping a bit with some 2d work. And FyreBlade, Gronomist has been around for ever as well (notice the Registered: January, 2002 thing under her name) , she is probably well aware that Kada has the BBB

i mean no offence in this but. if there were a conflit between 2 peoples and one was really friendly with devs he/she would get the benifit of the doubt.
whatever this is getting off topic... it just seems very ODD to me. im sure if they all of a sudden the name of the game changed to STICKshift after me u guys would all wonder woudnt u?

Nice stuff.. the textures are nice and crisp (jayoose Libray looks alot better than before with the lighting working in it ^_^) one problem I see is with Kada Els tavern.. how are you supposed to walk past the tables with the chairs being so close together... heh
And to be realy nit picky... theres a slight overdose on the Wear lines on every thing, but has a nice effect though.

Wow those screenshots are superb - fantastic work HakM and Boonet, a perfect taverny atmosphere already.
I feel so honored that it\'s named after my little idea for an establishment - I think it\'ll be nice to have something that already has a little history. But I believe I also owe some of that to the fact that Kendaro wrote something into some of the settings :)

As it has been said, Kada-El deserves the honor to have her tavern in game.
She has put a lot of effort in (correct me if I am wrong) creating the first PlaneShift related fan site. And her job is amazing, adding new features and interesting stuff very often, keeping us busy while the game is being developed. And she invests much of her free time in doing so. She earned her tavern, she is one of the most loved people of the community (if not the most loved), and I am absolutely positive that there is no favoritism involved.
I had heard about the possibility of Kada\'s tavern to be included in the game world a long time ago, but never knew anything about the progress of that idea. It is good to see that her hard work paid off, this shows how much the dev team cares about the fans.
Cheers to Kada-El, and to the dev team, because they did a wonderful job too :]

Let me reiterate:
1) Kada El = Former Developer
2) Kada El = Major Leader in the Fan Community
3) Kada El = Cool Person
The tavern is only named after her concept, it shows that the dev team cares and knows about the community. If you want a building named after you, do all the stuff she has done and try your luck, it isn\'t like it is named after someone who is almost unknown

Ok, I?m not sure how seriously to take the tainting/favoritism posts.
I?ll be clear, most of you have been here longer then I, and even the Kada?El Tavern has been in creation longer then I.
Is it favoritism?
Well that depends?Kada?El has done an excellent job of presenting a great character, both on these boards and on her fan site, in fact it is often hard to tell what is her character and what is her as a real person.
Will Kada ?El be getting in game money from the Bar???
Probably not, unless she gives up the Kada?El name and lets us NPC it.
What does she gain from it (recognition)
What do others loose from it (nothing, no mater what it was going to have a name and a proprietor)
Now, lets get to the nitty gritty?why her? I mean come on she is a pansy elf , right?
Well, no matter what she is/isn?t Kada-EL has provided many of the devs of this game both past and present with some kind of inspiration, be it sub-conscious, or conscious?deliberate on her/his part or not.
And to some it was enough inspiration to write a bit about, and make a map of the institution, that then lead to months of modeling?getting it perfect, as well as making many little things in the game (candles, chairs, tables?)
So in effect it was a snowball effect. Will this type of thing happen in the future?more then likely.
Lets be realistic for a second. Who would you help first?an real life friend just starting in the game, or a guild mate who needs help to get a slightly better sword for his twink.
If you answered the guild mate, you are a great role-player, but you know nothing about priorities.
Now, do I think it is fair/nice that some people are recognized more then others, No?but it will happen.
Will there be this effect in resolving disputes in the game? Yes, but my hope is that it is almost non-existent.
If a Dev, playing his normal character takes advantage of another group, and a GM sees him/her or it gets reported?the Dev will be given the benefit of the doubt, however if it is found that the DEV was at fault, all the GMs will know who it is, all the Devs will know that a dev was being a prick?in short it?s like when a cop beats some one up at a bar, at first it seems as if all favors went to the cop, but quite often later the cop pays for his mistake in a way that is worse then just disorderly conduct?
Anyway?I went off the deep end?is there favoritism, Yes. Will there be in the future, yes.
Will I and a few other Devs do there best to not see it in game play, Yes.
Will we allow it into story line? Yes.
We will write about PCs, and quite likely we will write about the ones who win some ?GM event? how much we write depends largely on inspiration given by that character/player, we could just fill his name into a premade story, or really give it a whirl. That depends on the person we are writing about and the person doing the writing.
I think it is foolish to think we can rise above favoritism. The best we will be able to do is limit it as much as possible.
And I?ll be posting a much more important topic/poll.
But you are right, this does set a poor precedent, however I do not think it is that big of a deal as long as it does not go far beyond this.
Perhaps having a Tavern for every good and semi popular fan site might be a good thing to do???

It is a fact that Kada is one of the most active and most well liked fans that Planeshift has. She also has one of the most definitive \"roles\" that she plays (the tavern keeper or whatever) of any fan in the game.
If other fans are also popular, loyal to PS, active and have a definitive RP identity, I could certainly envision us including other elements named after fans or modeled after their identities.

she had that old crapy nuttin site and then link, tok and I create a clan site that put most the others to shame. in fact i remember that after the hitman clan came out a whole crapload of wannabe clan sites jumped from outta the cracks...
i think that the hitman clan (inactive at the moment) was in fact one of the best sites out 5-6 months ago

Ok I don\'t know if this is for Parasite or for me, but I *suppose* :rolleyes: it\'s for me. Well, here I reply: We CAN\'T get away with anything if we are doing bad things. But if you guys get so stressed with a joke me and Parasite have already done another time and the receptor didn\'t cared (he was even posting on the topic!), I don\'t really think it\'s our fault. Or perhaps because I am retarded and don\'t have those notions about \"what should be done\". Perhaps Talad will complain with me about it, but it\'s ok for me. Now let me explain you something. This is Internet. I don\'t know your point of view, but in mine this is a World. While this world is not as big as our, unless you are rich this world IS going to be bigger than our in matter of possibilities, although all our lifes experiences are going to be in real life and I AM proud of having tasted much of those \'till now. Being a world, we have rules inside this world, although few, we have thieves and marginals (a.k.a hackers) and many other things that we can compare to our real world. We also have discussions and fights .
The difference is simple. In the real world, following your ideas and peaceful concepts, we can just smash, punch and kick the other. Sorry dude, you can\'t do this with me. In the internet we have a verbal discussion, and complaing about this is equivalent to the following example:

Stickman you bring up many good points, you do it while being vulgar and insulting me and the rest of the dev crew, but you bring up good points.
As far as favoritism/clique ness/special people. I hate it as much as the next person.
Why does Kada-El have an in game location named after her, well a snowball effect, but I think it is a good idea to give promentent people in the PS community, in game recognition. Perhaps Kada-El will get free drinks at her place?
Any way, on the subject of Parasite and Elentor and why they are Devs. Because they produce.
They produce and do all the crap asked of them even when it is a crap job.
Are they immature?hell yes. Should they know better, hell yes. Are they abusing power, yes. Will they be reprimanded, no. but they will never get a job where they are responsible for being fair either.
In the end, they are used for their Talents to get this game made, they in turn act goofy and stupid in places where they know others will notice and react.
Did they get what they wanted, probably.
Should you relax, probably.
Should people insult Rune***** No, it?s a better game then Planeshift by a long shot right now, it is a game.
My suggestion is you calm down a bit and act a tad more mature then Elentor and Parasite.
Or you can perhaps be more productive then them and replace them???

First: It was closed because we demmanded so, so no one could reply it. The Forum moderator, Vengeance, was at our side, found the topic harmless, and closed as we, me and parasite asked. Yes, WE closed our own topic.
Second: Parasite himself deleted the post. Actually we DON\'T want to fight or to harm up the thing.
Third: You can do the topic, dude. I really am not to care about it. Not even I was going to care if you posted it. You might argue \"Yes, YOU care because you got offended with those messages\". Well, I didn\'t got really offended, the problem is that DeadlyPencil was completely baseless, pointless and argueless about it. If I ever said something stupid (like my first topic in this forum where I complained about the server not working) and somebody flammed me, I would let the thing run, as I had so many times in all those internet forums. But anyway, I DIDN\'T diectly offended anyone with words such as \"retarded\", which only serves to make the post even more pointless. Jokes like that was made before, even having me or someone else as the main point in other forums (http://www.schangar.com.br just in case you ask \"what forum\"? As the person that made this tavern, background and floor plans, I think I have heard just about enough of this petty bickering. I designed this tavern about a year ago and for what it is wherth it is called Tavern de\' Kadel. By all means it is totaly inspired by the lovely Kada\'El and her tavern but there are several things in this world inspired by other things or other people. The Monalissa for one is inspired by a smile someone had and to this day there is still conjecture whether or not the actual model was more than one lady. The thing is people look all over for inspiration and do little things to show where they got it from as to give credit. Credit to the one that inspired them.
Tes Kada\'El inspires me and should inspire more of you. Here is a young lady from across the ocean that has taken the time and energy to open a web site for fans of PS. This place being a role play-ish get away from the hum drum of this board. You have to admit that this board is more technical than anything else so it is nice to have a place where you can relax and not have to stick to a specific topic.
To sit there and say there is favortism towards any person just cause they inspired something is utterly ubserd. After all in a game that isn\'t even in an alpha phase what type of favortism could there be? Even once the game goes for final release, just cause she inspired it doesn\'t mean she will not be treated like any other player when inside its walls. She will be greeted just the same by the NPCs and would even have to pay for her own drinks. There is absolutly no benefit in inspiring a piece of work.
So lets end all this childishness and petty bickering. So what if there is a tavern in this world that was inspired by a fan. There are other things in it as well that are inspired by other people but they are just not as popular or well known. Lets stop trying to make judgments on things just because a person is well known. After all would it have mattered to anyone if there was library named Clinton\'s? Not at the least, and don\'t respond with Clinton isn\'t a member of this board because that matters not. Its just a name and that\'s all it is. It might have something to do with the person that it is named from but in the end it is still JUST a name.

Regarding the OWNED thread, I viewed it as harmless teasing and locked it because I thought it was funnier that way. :-) I knew people could (and would) respond freely in other threads, like here, of course.
Hopefully everyone has vented and apologized and feels better now. I\'m closing this thread also and let\'s move on.
