I need to replace the file which stores the shortcut menu. I\'d rather avoid a complete reinstall.
Basically, I was clearing off the buttons I didn\'t use. The next time I opened Plane Shift, the menu was wack. It was a green rectangle that stretched the height of my screen. No buttons, could not be resize. Right clicking just brought up an empty shortcut window.
-
Try to go in the dir where PS is installed, then data and then, if you want to reset completely you should have a file called:
shortcutcommands_def.xml
I am pretty sure you can reset to default the shortcut from ingame, but I don\'t know how. You can try deleting the file shortcutcommands.xml that should be the one with your personal preferences.
-
No dice. Looks like I have to re-install.
-
It\'s by no chance you changed data/gui/shortcuts.xml?
Since that\'s the window definition, it will get crazy if you change too much especialy remove stuff
-
It did go crazy, and I did remove stuff. Most of the shortcuts I simply do not need.
-
It seems I am experiencing the same. I changed something and now my shortcut-window is about 1600000 times too large...
No chance to resize it in-game... Would be nice to have a field in the window-options-screen to type in the wished size...
I tried to delete the shortcutcommands.xml and shortcutwindow.xml and updated, also tried to change the size in the setupwindow.xml and in the psclient.cfg... but to no avail. It just turns back to this: (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a16/amogorkon/shot33.jpg).
-
I made some progress by changing the values in the planeshift.cfg to those of a friend:
The values in the \"GUI.ShortcutWindow\" section:
visible=true, posX=730, posY=161, width=66, height=190, mintrans=0, maxtrans=200 fadespeed=8, fade=true
That is the result:
You see the shortcutwindow faded in, at the left side the grabbing-edge. The window has again such a big height i cant get to the bottom to change the size.

If you need to replace any file for PS, just delete or rename it. Run the updater and it will replace it with the default.
Suggestion on editing shortcutcommands.xml: Make sure your tags are closed and have numbers that match on each side of the shortcut.
-
You edited the wrong lines for making the shortcut menu smaller- there are lines like:
PlaneShift.GUI.ShortcutEdit.Width =
PlaneShift.GUI.ShortcutEdit.Height =
change those to something like 200x200, and they should be useable. The only problem is that it may get really huge again when you log out- in that case you have a bad shortcutcommands.xml. To fix that, delete it from the data/options folder and run the updater.
-
I deleted the whole gui-folder, but after that the shortcutwindow was back to the state as the first screenshot shows.
I think the shortcutwindowsettings are modified somehow by another file which is not obvious.
Im trying now to delete everything but those files I deleted before and are updated already...
-
The files with some shortcut things:
Planeshift.cfg
data/options/shortcutcommands_def.xml
data/options/shortcutcommands.xml
data/gui/shortcutwindow.xml
and nothing else that I know...
-
i had this once and the menu was taking up the whole screen, so i tried to delete stuff and update but it didnt work. so in the end i just uninstalled and then installed again and this fixed it for a bit now its broken again but not as bad, the buttons are just bigger so i cant have it in two colums and i have to scroll through them.
-
Well, you have to find a place which is normally between buttons and window frame, then right click on it.
Regards.

Once you have \"data/options/shortcutcommands.xml\" updated, that should stop the settings from being changed, then change the values in psclient.cfg.

NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER change the stuff in data/gui if you\'re not 110% sure what you are doing!!!!!!11111one.
It\'s simply the layout of the window, no data is EVER stored in those. To for example remove buttons, DO NOT remove them in the gui xml, do it in the options one and reorder.
If you still edit the gui .xml and screw up, well that\'s your fault

I was just listing the files concerning the shortcut.
Removing stuff can cause problems, but modify the dimensions doesn\'t give big troubles (or I was a witch with that ;D)
Anyway, I think his specific problem was of layout, not of removing buttons.
-
Well... it really seemed that the data were altered somehow from another not-obvious file... Now it works as from the start... after deleting practically the whole /data -folder... (only had to left the ok.xml in /data/gui... after deleting this the updater didnt work anymore). Thx for your suggestions anyway, I?m happy that I dont had to make a full reinstall :)

this may be a bit late, but just now i was playing around and i still have slightly mucked up shortcuts but running the client through command prompt on windows made them all nice again no clue why.

Found the thread!
I have no clue how I solved it last time though.
