Title: Gentoo Linux updated Planeshift install!
Post by: Toru on June 30, 2005, 11:02:49 pm
Good news!  The gentoo package for planeshift was recently updated to 0.3.010!  The package wasn\'t updated for while from the 0.2.010 release, but now it is so go grab it if you use Gentoo Linux!

last edit to package:
:: 21 May 2005; Philip Walls planeshift-0.3.010.ebuild
Version bump. Revamped build process some.::

The release is available as a \"~\" unstable package release for ~x86 or ~amd64!

quick instructions:
update your repository with \"emerge --sync\", then \"emerge planeshift\" (do \"emerge -pv planeshift\" if you want to double check everything before it installs).

note: if you haven\'t enabled unstable packges just type:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=\"~x86\" emerge planeshift

Yes, there are issues with the ebuilds for some people, and some code fixes were needed for stability on 64-bit systems after the ebuilds were added. :)

Side note.. if you use ACCEPT_KEYWORDS on the cli and install it a world update will most likely revert it back to the *stable* version. For those using \"arch\" and not \"~arch\" you can use /etc/portage/package.keywords and put in ..

games-rpg/planeshift ~x86

this will guarentee you always get the latest PS version as it enters the portage tree.

actually you\'ll need all these four lines in /etc/portage/package.keywords
at the moment.

games-rpg/planeshift ~x86
dev-games/crystalspace ~x86
media-libs/cal3d ~x86
dev-games/cel ~x86

(i just ran thru the procedure)

Thanks for the correction. :) I always run ~arch so I never dipped into the ebuild to verify the dependancies wern\'t also masked. Cheers.

Hello,

I have a properly set up nvidia gforce4 mx accelerated X with 2.6.11-gentoo-r11 kernel.

I can not run planeshift-updater nor planeshift setup.

this is the updater\'s error message:

And this is the setup\'s error message:

can anyone help me please?

You tried \'planeshift-updater -auto\' not as root? That\'s what the ebuild said to use.

I got that error myself, So I read ebuild notes and went \'oh\'.

Hope it works!

Thanks to everyone who responded to this forum topic. Gentoo linux rocks and its good to see that there are people is a little community of gentoo folks here.

Another note, most people understand this, but if you want to enable all the newest and unstable packages for EVERYTHING add \"ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=\"~x86\"

change ~x86 to ~ARCH for whatever arch your using, like amd64 (~amd64).
