Post by: akiweb on July 05, 2005, 12:54:09 pm
Hi everyone! At this moment I\'m still downloading the game (almost 70% now), and reading from your other topics.. I am getting really excited.  Just wanna know the difference of Planeshift with other mmorpgs (Ragnarok and COH).Hope to see you guys online soon.

Welcome to planeshift !
You can expect a game in development stage, new features are added regularly, with new bugs too :)
But above all you\'ll find a great community with a lot of stupid people and a lot of less stupid ones ;)

Best thing you can do is read through the Player Guide and explore some of the threads in the forums :) There is already a wealth of information here that can be easily accessed, and typing out a thorough explanation of what Planeshift is sounds a bit tedious. I think Leji mentioned the key parts, particularly the development stage. Planeshift is currently a pre-alpha, thus more tech demo than full game. Bugs abound, but they are and will be taken care of almost as soon as they are spotted. The world isn\'t very large - two towns, Hydlaa and Ojaveda, and a stretch of explorable hills between them (with a magic shop nestled apart in a corner). The graphics are very nice though, as you can probably tell from the screenshots, and they can only improve.

There are various skills available, though certainly not all are implemented yet, and various creatures you can fight (with a severely limited aggro zone right now, if any). Unfortunately there isn\'t much balance at the moment and many spawns are camped. This is a common complaint. The solution is of course to stop grinding skills and stats for a while and turn to what Planeshift is really supposed to be about: roleplay. OOC conversations are discouraged without the use of parentheses or brackets, and a roleplay name is certainly a must. Other than that, hopefully you\'ll be able to meet people in-game without too many problems and errors, and get to enjoy your time :)

Welcome!
