Title: Ideas on weapons and items...
Post by: Wormtail_ on September 14, 2002, 11:52:29 pm
I don\'t think there is a topic about weapons & items people want to have in the game, so I might as well put them here. Also, you can put in \'original\' items, like weapons that are not in any other RPG. You should put in the name of the weapon, description, and perhaps requirements to wield it and how good the weapon is(not damage since I\'m not sure of HP of monsters). I\'ll leave the obvious ones to you all, but I\'ll put in some of my ideas here. Also, this is similar to the monsters idea page, but is different than monsters for obvious reasons.

The following is going to be an example.

Halberd

This weapon is a cross between a spear and an axe. Usually the wielder of this weapon gets to strike first(if that\'s allowed) as long as the wielder isn\'t taken by surprise. This weapon looks like an axe blade on the side of a spear with the top part completely metal. This weapon requires both hands to wield it. The range is 1-3, depending on how long it is and how skilled the user is with polearms. (If that\'s in the game, I\'m too lazy to check now. :P)

This weapon is pretty good(in damage terms, and look terms on a smaller scale :P ), if you can handle it correctly.

Note: Developers can delete/close this topic if they don\'t like it, but I\'d like it if they send me a message first. They can also snatch ideas off the ideas put here.

Dwarven axe: Passed down between dwarves from father to son. One end is long and pointed like a pickaxe (for conducting at least some basic mining) and the other is sharp and axe shaped (in case somebody doesn;t want you to condict mining). All dwarves start with one and can not be deprived of it. Cannot be, traded, dropped or crafted.

Air plate: A very advanced armour intended for the Klyros. Weighs almost nothing, making it ideal for the fragile nature of the Klyros. Requires a top class crafter who crafts it litteraly out of thin air, although it still strong, despite the material it\'s made from.

Marine crossbow/ harpoon: A crossbow made out of non corrosive materials. Fires very powerfully, making the arrow move with speed even under water. Long loading time, but devastating damage. Requires a fairly good crafter and would probably sell well with the Nolthrir.

Tail spikes. A diaboli only weapon. Attached to the tail to give a lethal weapon. Attacks extremly fast, but single blows are weak. Requires a very good craftsman to make and would also probably be very highly valued because the spikes would be fairly fragile, making regular replacements a neccesity.

Wristshot: A small crossbow placed under the wrist for a surprise attack. Some types load automaticly after each shot, some need to be loaded manualy. Requires extremely high crafting skills because it has to be crafted to react to very precise muscle movement and often also needs a mechanisan up your entire sleeve to fit in up to a 100 bolts.

Wing shoes: Aquire magical energy and then release it to allow you to run at incredible speeds. A wizard can craft them out of any shoes. Not to much wizardry skill is needed to make basic wing shoes, but more skill means better shoes. Load slowly and are unrepairable, so will fall apart with time (this is to stop everybody running around at the speed of sound and to make wing shoes a fairly sought after item.

Long post, huh? I like having ideas! :P

Well, the more items, the better! Great ideas, btw.

Hmm... Might as well put in more ideas.

Insane Double-Bladed Longsword

Orignally created by mad dwarven inventors and insane human mages, this rare weapon has two blades on the same side. One side is completely \'dead\', but the other side is \'alive.\' The \'alive\' side has a mind of it\'s own, which means it will attack in various places. It\'s metal will stretch and turn, attacking in unexpected places and dealing plenty of damage.

Stone Spear

This spear is made out of stone and metal, due to the lack of wood in underground worlds. It is a lot heavier than normal spears, making attack speeds slower, but since stone is harder than wood, surprise attacks with this spear can cause severe concussions, and possibly unconsciousness.

Auto-loading Crossbow(might change name)

An invention by humans and dwarven crossbows, this machine is basically a crossbow that is lake a machine-gun, except for the fact that it\'s a crossbow. Due to it\'s rapid attack, it is often hard to aim accurately, rather it attacks a whole area, making it less effective for single opponents, but more effective against oppenents en masse. Also, the quarrels don\'t do plenty of damage, but the rapid attack makes up for that. This crossbow isn\'t common, but it is between rare and \'not common, yet not rare,\' because few humans have actually made this.

Hmm, let\'s see, weapons and items...

Double Shot- (ok, a crappy name) A crossbow which has an unusual ability.  Two bolts are fired at once, giving twice the damage in a shorter amount of time, but draining your missile stock at twice the speed.  Fairly high crafting requirements.

Cloak of Camouflage- Reduces the character to a slight blur on the screen.  The character is revealed when (s)he moves or acts.  The cloak\'s defense is similar to that of a normal cloak.  Their is a penalty to any other attacker\'s chance to hit while the wearer is camoflauged.  Fairly rare.

Cloak of Invisibility- Completely hides character unless (s)he moves or acts.  While moving, the character becomes a slight blur.  The cloak\'s defense is similar to that of a normal cloak.  Their is a penalty to any other attacker\'s chance to hit while the wearer is hidden or camouflaged, the penalty is much much higher when they are hidden.  Very rare.

Poison-Tipped Tail Spikes- Like Aztec_Brave\'s idea, but inflicts some additional poison damage each hit.  Very expensive.  Poison lasts just as long as the spikes do.

Maybe they need to be tweaked a bit, but that\'s all I can think of for now.

P.S.-  Maybe Hammerwielder Dwarves should have hammers that are similar to the axe.

Cool ideas guys. I\'ll just add a few more of my own:

Neutralizing armour: Usefull for speices who are harmed by a type of weapon (Eg the Diaboli against holy stuff). This armour neutralisis the effect. Naturally will be fairly hard to craft to prevent everybody getting around their natural deficiencies. Also fairly weak as an armour to prevent diaboli and similar species being invincible with it.

Brainpick: I nicked this from ultima. A weapon that permanently takes away 1 intelligence (or any other brainy point, not aquainted with the attribs much). Made by enchanting any weapon. Very hard to make, we don\'t want wierdos running around threatening to take down our intelligence if we don\'t give him a chip.

Battle bread: Boomerang bisciuts, drop scones, lethal guerilla muffins. Those of you who have read the discworld novels will no what I\'m talking about. For most species it\'s an average weapon, for dwarves it\'s the weapon of choice. Fairly hard to make for a dwarf, and extremely hard to make for anyone else. Takes a very long time to make, maybe even several days (In the discworld novels it takes months) but is indestructible.

Boomerang Biscuits sound cool  :D

Ah, that gives me an idea.  Boomerangs!  Boomerangs could be used by mostly everyone, and fit in along the other throwing weapons like javelins, slings, throwing knives, shuriken (throwing stars), throwing axes, darts, blowguns, bows, crossbows, and maybe even guns.

Guns would be neat.  Maybe Lemurs would be the creators/users of guns, since they are supposed to be the most clever of all races.  By guns I don\'t mean machine guns, rocket launchers, and sniper rifles, I just mean handheld pistols (like what\'s in Final Fantasy Tactics, if anyone here has heard of it)

The guns would probably be uncommon though, and only fairly strong Lemurs could get it.  Maybe some other races could wield them, but only Lemurs should be able to make them.

Take note of all the projectile weapons I listed, I\'m hoping all of them will be in the game.
Title: Staves?
Post by: Xandria on September 16, 2002, 04:55:52 am
I am wondering whether or not staves will be a weapon in the game.  They are often the weapon of mages, seeing as they often require very little strength, but instead rely on agility and relfexes to wield effectively.  There should also be some magical staves that exemplify the magical abilities of the mage that uses it.

I also came up with a cool idea for crafting staves.  Seeing as many mages as in touch with the auras of life and such, that there is a certain skill (perhaps of the earth way?) that can be cast upon a tree, and it will likely take several seconds to complete the cast, but it will in essence have the tree give up a nicely shaped branch for the caster.  The mage can then take it back to a workshop of sorts where they can inscribe symbols/glyphs onto the stave, and perform incantations that will bestow magical powers into the staff.

I just thought that sounded like a neat idea  :)

Yeah, staves would be cool, for mage-type character.

Also there should be scepters or rods, or something.  That are one handed, but are like staves.  They could have a magical effect on the user, or they could fire a ray of lighting at the enemies, or something.  Also, for rods that fire magic, they should be rechargable, and have about the same attack power as a decent bow and have the same amount of charges as a supply stock of arrows.

Vampire sword

A nice red sword who have the ability to drain some of a damage of ennemy to increase your own life bar. fairly rare and usuable only by low charisme caracteres.

Kran\'s Claws

Putting on this gloves changes your hand to those of a kran, but without increase in weight, which give you the ability to hand out rock-hard punches.

Hehe it just popped into my head.  8)
Title:
Post by: Aztec_Brave on September 16, 2002, 09:28:17 pm
Hey! That just gave me an idea!

Kran Plate: A type of armour crafted from dead Kran. Basicly a heavy but effective armour made from living stone. Can\'t be used by Klyros, Lemurs, Nolthrir and for logical resons Kran (how would you feel if you were wearing skin?!). Only crafted by good crafters who will need skills in both blacksmithy (Well, you moght not be smelting ore, but the smith still needs to employ knowledge about armour shape etc), masonry (to craft the armout) and possible anatomy (usefull to know what your making it out of). Every repair makes it weaker, so it won\'t last forever (you can only repair it with cement).

Cage Sword: A magical weapon that \'cages\' in something of the last person struck. So if you strike a Klyros the sword might strike with exreme speed, or might turn into an excelent throwing weapon. If you strike a Kran you get a heavy, slow and powerfull weapon etc. Can be emtied out when you feel like changing the nature of it. Only repairable when empty.Requires the combined skill of a smith and a mage to create.

Aerial sword: A light sword deseigned to be used for comat on a flying creature. Can easily be handled with one arm, leaving the other one to steer. Is very sharp to prevent it getting jammed in the enemy and is very flexible to allow for slow reflexes (when you would miss with a real sword you\'d hit with this one because it would bend back). Fairly useless on the ground due to its clumsiness in short speed. Requires a good crafter and extremely high quality materials.

Ok. I\'ll post more later. Hope somebodies actually reading this.

Excellent ideas, although I pity those poor krans who are being killed for their items. :P

I might as well throw in more of my \'not so original\' ideas.

Throwing Axe

This weapon is a ranged weapon, with not much range. I could be used as either a hand-to-hand melee weapon or ranged. The stronger a person is, or skilled with axes, the longer he/she can throw it.

Long Morning Star/Flail

This weapon is basically a mace ball attached to a rope/chain. This weapon has 2 range due to the fact that it is attached to a rope/chain. The longer the opponent is, the more effective this weapon is. The closer, the less effective. It is this way because the mace is on the end, and the rope makes up the handle.

Note:This weapon is longer than ordinary morning stars or flails.

Pike

Same as the halberd, but less effective. Range is one, due to how long it is.

Note: You\'re allowed to put in spells if you\'d like.

Do you mean a morning star, with the rope mace?

Dragon eye soul sword.
Maybe when you kill a dragon, you can take it\'s eye, then have someone craft a weapon with the eye in the hilt. Gives the user short bursts of flight, and fire. (also applicable to other serious boss monsters that may appear.)

The abios
A sword that takes the soul/essence of anyone you kill. Then later, you can hire (or if you are one) a mage with elemental magic to insert the souls into your own personal golem. Would be rare, and the golems would take several souls to operate.

Darkened Blade
takes away all the light around you, and lets you see in the dark. Helps for hiding from enemies.

Lesser abios.
Like the cage sword idea, but when you kill an oppenent you get near 1/4th of his skills.

Ballista Minor
A ballista you can carry on your back, but when you need to fire it you have to set it up on a stand.

swordchucks
Uhh...I just like 8-bit theatre.

Well, I suppose I\'ll just change the name to Morning Star. Now that I\'m here, anyways, I might as well put in some more of my ideas.

Stones/rocks

Rocks and stones are used as ranged weapons, either with a sling or with your bare hands. They are extremely common, and are a good way to practice using ranged weapons. However, rocks and stones don\'t cause too much damage, though.

Stone Shield

This is what the name says. A stone shield. Stone shields are moderately common, although it is very heavy and therefore isn\'t a very good shield. However, it is better than nothing!

Well I guess heres my 2 cents if the Devs really are listening....

The Defender  A 2 handed sword that adds the ability to block 50% or more.

Demon Blade  While weilding this sword the undead will not attack you. Does dark damage and effective against light creatures.

Armor of the Treant  This could be an armor made out of the skin of a treant. Adds hiding skills and an increase to life regeneration.

Apocolypse Flame  A sword made completely of the fire of apocolypse and no metal on the blade except hilt.

Umm...Morning Star isn\'t from RPGs. It\'s what they called those maces, with chains attached to the big spikey ball. You\'ve probably heard flail. Sorry to confuse people.

The armor of treant sounds really cool. That would be awesome to have in the game. Uh...wouldn\'t the Kran plate start fights alot?

Ah. Thanks for the correction. I think I\'ll edit my post. Also, I got rocks and stones from Wizardry 8, where I get some of my ideas, anyways, although Wizardry 8 does have a good selection of weapons to \'borrow\' from. Now that I\'m here AGAIN, I\'ll put in more of my ideas, after I edit some more a bit.

Spell-Insanity

This spell is for mid-level mages(not sure which type). This spell does not do any damage, but what it does do is devastating, yet hilarious at the same time. When casted on an opponent, the victim turns insane. When a creature is insane, it begins to do random things, like laughing like a freak to breakdancing, or attacking anyone nearby, regardless of wether it\'s allied with the insane person, or not.

Sword of Dirt

This sword is a regular sword. The only difference is that it fires dirt into the enemy\'s eyes every 3 minutes. If the dirt actually hits the eyes, the opponent will be temporarily blinded(as in, all attributes that use the eyes like aiming a sword) for a short time.

Deflector Shield(Sounds a bit like Star Wars, no? You know, the droid tanks and \'stuff.\')

These shields partially deflect ranged attacks. These shields are vulnerable to melee attacks, as the magic enchanting the shield only works for missle weapons. When a ranged weapon hits the shield, it bounces off and goes back \'somewhere\' dealing half of the original damage if it hits something. These shields are rare, and are only good for missle attacks. Magic attacks will not be reflected, but will be destroyed on impact of the shield.

(Note: The shield only deflects if the wielder succesfully blocks it. The deflecter shield requires high shielding experience, too.)

Warstaff
It is a staff with small spiked balls on both end. The warstaff is heavier than the basic staff but still relies on agility.

Punching Shield
It is a small shield or a buckler with a spike in the center to bash someone with it.

Katana and Wakizashi
These are the well known slightly curved single edged weapons of the samurai.

Kukri
The strange and odd looking but deadly throwing knifes from Africa.

Kris
The wavy bladed dagger from Indonesia.

Krissword
Like the Kris but much longer. Is used like a sword.

Ok, I guess I leave my thread for monsters only.

There should be claws, like Ninjas in some games use.  They would do more damage than UA but still use the UA combat skill.
Title:
Post by: Wormtail_ on September 20, 2002, 02:55:03 am
Just a comment, Seravajan. This isn\'t a game based on RL, because I doubt there is going to be countries named Indonesia or continents called Africa in Planeshift. You\'ll have to make up who or what made it, like I did with the auto-loading crossbows. Those were invented in China, I think, and were called Zhu Ko Nu, and in Age of Kings, Chu Ko Nu. They were invented by a person named Zhuge Liang, I think. Link is here: http://www.atarn.org/chinese/yn_xbow/zhugehtm.htm. Anyways, I had to twist things around a bit to make it fit in the game. Just a comment, no offense intended.

Spell-Transfer Condition(Or another name, I make up horrible names)

This spell transfers your conditions, i.e. poisened, blinded, insane(if you can get over the insanity), etc. to the target creature, as long as you can do battle with them. This spell is accessible to high-intermediate mages. This spell only works if there are goi ng to be conditions(like unconsciousness, which makes you unable to move for x rounds) in the game. When a condition is transfered, it will only happen for half the time it was inflicted on the caster.

Create Condition

This spell basically does random effects on the target creature. All it does is create an effect on you. How long the effects lasts depends on how much mana is channeled(if that\'s in the game) or how experienced the caster is. Thsi spell is rarely found in books, for not many mages have thought of this. The mages who have found this spell tend to keep it secret, too.

Demon cage:
A cage filled with a bunch of imps and a salamander. will light up a whole cave and the imps will attack surrounding targets. Useful for taking out, or at least weakening layers of animals. Requiers the skill of a carpenter (to make the cage) and a breeder (to breed the animal). Is lost after use, but the animals can be retamed, so a good tamer can theoreticaly use it several times in a short time period.

Screw-sword: A sword twisted to make the blade corkscew shaped. Useless as a slashing weapon, but deadly for stabbing when used at a high skill. A good sword can break dragon hide with a good enough wielder. Requires a good smith, with good equipment and material.

More ideas!

Sword of Spells

Baically a sword with a gem inlayed in it. This sword is enchanted, and can help fighter mages cast spells without the need to switch to a staff. It looks like a longsword with a gem in the hilt, but is a fighter mages best friend.

Stone of Invisibility

This stone is for master crafters only. When put into armor, the wearer of the armor will become invisible. However, he/she will not be totaly invisible. What will appear in the player\'s place is the outline of the player and the stone. These stones are kind of visible, but are very rare.

Ruby of Regeneration

This ruby is for intermediate and higher smiths or crafters. When a person is wearing an item with this ruby will regain health and stamina(if it\'s there) at a faster rate. These rubies are very rare in the open, but are a bit more common in mines.
Title:
Post by: Aruneko on September 21, 2002, 06:52:01 pm
Only 1 idea here that I object to was the Deflector Shield (no offense)  I mean, anyone with that would be invulnerable to mages and archers.  That would be a big disadvantage.
Title:
Post by: Wormtail_ on September 21, 2002, 07:26:59 pm
Hmm... I think I\'ll tone the shield down a bit for fairness... Thanks for noticing that!(And actually reading the repliess... :P)

Magical arrows

These arrows, when fired, always hit the target, no matter what. It won\'t always do damage, but usually it does. Dodging these arrows can however lessen the damage caused by these arrows, and by \'hitting the target\' means hitting the person and anything he/she is wielding, which means shields can block these arrows off. To make qrrows, all you have to do is enchant regular arrows or other types of arrows. If enchanting a special arrow(example: poisened arrow), the arrow will still keep it\'s special ability.

Well heres my two cents.

Piercing arrows (yes i know all arrows are piercing but these would be effective against heavy armor)

The following would need a fletcher of fairly high talent as well as a mage of moderate skill

Arrows of entangling -slows down targets movement and attack speed

Arrows of blindness (name says it all)

Anti magic arrows- causes a targets magic casting time to increase as well as lowers it effectiveness.

Bow of light and Bow of darkness -
These bows would not need arrows instead theyd use magic from their respective magic schools
(i suck at making up names)

Bow of shielding -Reduces melee damage to the weilder

Maybe if you try to make a Bow or Arrows negative results come from it which a person wouldnt know about until they tried the items.

ie Anti magic arrows increasing your targets magic effectivness you get the idea

and finally this comes straight from baldurs gate

but i loved the wild mage class on there, maybe the less experienced a mage is at casting a particular spell the more chance it has for failure ending in not so desirable results, i.e. gender change , skill loss, sudden fatigue, even instant death on the flip side it could turn out better than expected ie increased damage, haste, healing or something along those lines
Title:
Post by: Pheonix on September 25, 2002, 02:55:38 am
Arrows of transmutation -changes target into random animal or creature ...doesnt always work should be based on magic and magic resitance skill levels

Cloak of transformation - transforms you into animals or creatures based on your magic skill level ie
if your pathetic maybe you turn into a rat or a cat or something with not much attack power you should be able to transform back at will

thats all i got for now i guess

I simply LOVE weapons, the more the better! so if only the half makes it into the game, I\'m happy!!! also, what about the idea of picking op bones as weapons?
Title: normals stuff?
Post by: Nerore on September 25, 2002, 10:46:48 pm
all that stuff is cool, but what about normal weapons to mid-level type weapons? Instead of all Swords of Extreme Disembowlemtn and stuff like taht, how about names for weapons that are normal, but have a magical effect, or stat plus., etc?

Peasant Blade: A noraml sword that is very light and sometimes 3-4 extra attacks can be done in the same amount of time as a normal sword. Its very fragile, and shouldnt be used to fight monsters with tough skins/shells/etc,. If it breaks, it can be used as a dagger, etremley weaker, but still usable for defense until it can be reparied or forged aknew.

Boar Gloves From the hide of a boar (if there are boars in this game, if not change it to somthing appropriate! :))  Very tough and rough, with boar bones packed in the knuckles. Everyone once and a while the bones might shift from their poor craftsmanship, and hurt your hand a little, but very nice gloves to induce pain or for working in the mines/forge/etc for tehir being fire resistant.

Now on to the fun stuff, special weapons!

Sword of Cruelty: Normal red sword, only one in game world, induces horrible wracking pain at the very touch, almost certain death if it cuts you. Drawbacks: Very heavy, wielder must be very scared and have HUGE will power to overcome the pain the handle puts into the wielder, and very strong.

Storm Mace : Mace from the storms, causing thunderous pain with every hit. Drawbacks, somtimes will snap back and hit wielder if used incorrectly or if the wielder cannot control it.

Stave PoorChini: Normal staff with the blood of PoorChini flowing in the middle, making it unbreakable and resistant to all bad effects, and shields the wielder from 1/2 damage.

Staff of the White/Black Rose: Staves that can hurt those only of opposite ethos. White for Good, Black for evil. Can only be used by proper ethos (If your character is evil, yada yada so on)

Thats all i can think of for now.
Title:
Post by: Pheonix on September 26, 2002, 01:45:50 am
Sword of the berserk - A two handed sword that inflicts a lot of damage and boots the bearers attack and magic resistance. The drawback is the bearer of the weapon will attack every monster in the vacinity and cant use any items or spells while engaged in combat, also to remove this weapon youd need to use magic. Ie a cursebreakng spell of some sort

Arrows of rage -causes the target creature to go beserk raising attack and magic resistance while inhibiting any actions other than attack while your party is in the vacinity. The rage effect shouldnt happen everytime should be based on magic resistances etc

Apprentice mages staff - Lowers casting time slightly

Mages staff -Lowers casting time significantly

Great mages staff - Lowers casting time dramatically

Rings of magic - Allows the bearer to distribute abillity points to magic schools with less cost
Should be a ring for every school ie The ring of of Dark magic, ring of azure magic

Staff of summonng -Draws upon your magic pool to summon monsters the summoned monsters strength should be based on your magic skill.IE you shouldnt be able to summon a dragon with very little magic skill.
Drawbacks if the caster is defeated the monsters turn on the party, there should be a percentage that the monster summoned is a high level monster at which point it should turn on the summoning party.

Sword of chance pleas think of a better name.
Sword delas out a extreme amount of damage.
Drawback, 50% chance that the sword will damage you instead of the target

Post by: Wormtail_ on September 28, 2002, 11:56:09 pm
So far, all of these ideas have been great! Time to put in more of my contributions:

Hasty Javelin(Ugh, horrible name...)

This weapon is a ranged weapon. It only requires one hand to throw, so you can hold a shield, one-handed weapon, rocks, etc. in the other hand. When thrown, this javelin speeds through the air as fast, or nearly as fast, as a modern day bullet. This weapon is not commonly found, but regular javelins are.

Sharp Shield

This shield is round in shape, and has many spikes attached to ropes, which are attached to the shield. When the wielder of this shield successfully blocks a melee attack, the spikes on the ropes swing foward, and have a chance to damage the oppponent. When not in use, the spikes hand off the ropes, which hang off the sides of the shield.

Wild Onion Garlic

This is a food. A really bad-smelling one, too. When eaten, the player who ate it now has a breath attack for a limited time. When the player uses the breath attack, a greenish sort of air comes out the mouth and heads in the general direction. If the breath attack hits the opponent, that person has a chance of being nauseated or fall unconscious. It also does minimum damage, in which the max damage is 10, but rarely goes up above 5. The green air also hangs around the person, which can give the breather some time to run away. The range is very low, too. Kran are immune to this breath attack. This plant is moderately found. It is usually found in a few farms, on the surface of the planet, and the upper 2 floors of the underground city of Yikuram, or however it\'s spelled.

More ideas coming soon, if I get past my homework(Which is simple), paranoia, and other things.

Sabertooth  - Two short but very sharp curved knives with a round handle. You hold the round handle in your hand and the knives point out between yourfingers like claws. Can be wielded in both hands. The cat-people should get extra damage using this. Kind of like this (http://store1.yimg.com/I/majestic_1699_54888495)

Two bladed sword - like the night-elf hero in warcraft 3 :)

Sword of something - Call it anything you want, but there must be swords looking like
this (http://store1.yimg.com/I/majestic_1699_62301846)

And make as many weapons as possible, the more the better.

Alot of your ideas are cool, but the stave is ridiculously overpowered (no offense).

By the way, what\'s a PoorChini?

Here\'s some more items.

Healing Rod
A staff which posesses the ability to heal allies by striking them.  If you attack an ally during battle,  he is gradually healed, but if you use it to battle an enemy it works like a normal staff.  Fairly rare, and damage dealt to enemies is low, and healing allies is slow compared to using spells.

Gaurdian Spear
This spear is of the earth element, (brown in PS I think) and does some extra earth damage, and lessens the damage taken from earth-type attacks.  Hard to find.

Flaming Sword
Just your everyday flaming sword.  I wonder how they can sheathe these things?

Bloodwreath
A large blood-red axe which takes great strength and two hands to wield.  Deals a large amount of damage and drains a portion of it, healing the weilder.  Extremely rare.

Wind Saber
An aerodynamic, perfectly designed saber which is fairly easy to use, and very easy to use quickly.  Attacks rapidly, deals a fair amount of damage, and deals a tiny amount of wind damage.  (dunno if there is a wind element though)  Pretty uncommon.

Wing Guard
For Klyros only. Defencive armour for a klyros\' wings to be used like a shield. So you can keep your wings around you and increase defence but cannot attack while in this defencive position. Very very light so the wearer can still fly.

Heavy Wing Guard
Just like the regular one except this has much more defence, the only downside is it keeps the wearer from flying and slows them down swimming.

Dynablade
A large blade coverd with explosive material. When striking an enemy it sparks causing a very cool explosion about 1sec after impact. You must recharge it after a few uses or it will work just like a regular sword till u recharge it again at a blacksmith or sumwhere.

Speed Necklace
when the wearer wears this, it greatly increases their ability to dodge and block attacks. It also increases the speed the wearer attacks at.

Defencive Dagger
These items are stackable like arrows and are used when under attack. When the enemy comes close or is attacking you, you can shove this dagger into them wich will cause a big recoil(they move back). Not very strong but keeps damaging them until the dagger comes out.

Arm Blade
A long blade that fits under your arm, it holds onto it using straps. This can be used as stabing and upperacut kinda slashing. Can be used to block attacks if both you and the enemy attack at the same time. One blade goes under each arm so its 2 handed.

Dragoon Blade: A longsword with a hilt made from dragon scales and a blade made from a dragons tooth. The type of dragon these came from determines its magical enchantments. for example if the scales came from a wind dragon and the tooth came from a shadow dragon, the blade would deal massive dark elemental damage while the hilt would protect its wielder with wind enchantments. A very rare sword and can only be forged by a very skilled smith and crafter with the neccesary materials.. When you are near dragons the swords power increases even further. Very useful when combined with a dragon-like companion. dragon like allies will be empowered by the blade as well. while hostile dragons will suffer immense pain from the swords attacks.

Hammer of Thor
With this hammer, the chance of succeeding in smithing something wil raise. Also it gives your items an extra abillity like endurance or a small portion of anti-fire...

Staff of Nature
Small and middle sized reatures obey the owner of this staff. The owner should stand still and concentrate on what hes/shes is doing...

Trapshirt: I nicked this from another thread. It\'s a shirt that when worn turns out to be a straitjacket (sp!) and the wearer is to put it nicely in deep sh..slush. Needs a very skilled tailor and there is a certain chance it will fail and turn into a normal straightjacket (sp! again). You need help to squeeze out of it.

Sleeve blades: Cool blades that whip out of your sleeve to deal a bit of damage. Usefull when you\'ve been trapshirted or to deal a blow against fast and weak enemies. Requires a high blacksmith skill and a high tinkering skill (or its equivelent).

Blade of the windmills: Two broad blades (Imagine Naganitas or whatever you call those Japanese spear thingies, or the swords wielded by the front rows in the battle at the beggining of LOTR:FOTR) on opposite sides of a pole. With skill can make a practically unstopable weapon. The wielder can hack almost anything to pieces with one blow! The downside is that you are very vulnerable when wielding this, as you are not covered from behind. Made out of very strong and light (thus expensive) materials by an extremely good smith.

The sabertooth idea looks a lot like tigerclaw(very appropiate name, if used by the Enkidukai :D ), it\'s an already made weapon from...someplace I can\'t remember, but it\'s like brass nuckles but with curved blades instead. Anyone seen the last Aladdin movie? The bad guy uses one.

Imp Blade- A huge sword with little imps inside that you can release to wreck      ! You can see thier faces and hands pushing on the surface of the blade like they\'re trying to get out.

Blight Blade- causes any wounds to instantly infect, and rot. Whichever hand you\'re holding it with looks zombified.

More ideas! The first idea is to lift all those \'people\' from wanting to kill the Kran for their \'items.\'

Diaboli\'s tail

This weapon is what it says. A Diaboli\'s tail. This weapon is like a whip when wielded, and usually has a poisened spike at the end. This \'tail\' can only be taken when a Diaboli has been killed and the tail cut off. Usually, other Diaboli burn/bury these tails as they don\'t want other races taking body parts off fellow Diaboli, and for other reasons only the Diaboli know of.

Crystal Sword

These swords are no ordinary swords, even if every other sword was made out of crystal. These swords are magically enchanted so they can never fall in ruin, and are always razor sharp. Nobody can make these swords, as Crystal Swords were made from ancient forgers a long time ago. In fact, they were made by some sort of magical creature, so there are only 1 or 2 books on these swords. When wielded, these swords give off a bright light and are a shiny blue in color. You can find these swords as loot from creatures(very rare), or you can stumble on a lair of ancient weapons; if you survive to get there.

Rock Club

Made entirely of rock, these weapons are very heavy. They aren\'t exactly useful in battles, due to long attack times. However, if a blow is landed \'correctly,\' the target creature is weakened in that area, and has a chance to fall unconscious. These weapons are fairly common, mostly as defense weapons which Kran or Dwarves usually wield(which aren\'t soldiers). Other races wield these clubs, too, but not as much.

*Chucks in more ideas*

Book of Healing

When a person is carrying this book, he/she/it(Kran) can read it. When the user reads the book, that person will advance a new level in healing spells. Also, this book lists all the herbs needed to cure people from disease, poisening, wounds, and so on. It also gives a general overview of where to find those herbs. These books are extremely rare, too, and noone has ever been known to have had it in their possession for a long time.

Stun Staff

This staff is a staff with a handle bar 3/10 from the bottom to the top. 7/10 of the staff is the \'sharp sword\' part of the staff, and it has minor electricity charges running up and down those 7/10 of the staff. This weapon is a two-handed weapon, and is to be used like a lightsaber. The stun part deals a solid blow, plus minorly shocking the victim.

Crusader Shield

This shield is basically a kite shield with a great big cross embedded on the front of the shield. When wielded, all spells of the dark that hit the shield deal half damage, plus the bonus that shields have against ranged \'stuff.\' These shields are normal against everything else. These shields are not very common.

Infed Shield

This shield is the exact opposite as the Crusader Shield, other than the fact that it has a skull embedded in the middle of this kite shield. These shields aren\'t very common.

Huh, not much ideas rolling in lately, eh?

Poison Ring:a nice ring to give to your enemies it looks like a normal gold ring and even says gold ring but if you put it on it poisons the character not very common it takes a decent crafter

Sword of Searching:it has normal sword attacking abilities exept:it gives you a plus 20% in mining ores and shows all partially invisible characters as normal(all the stuff of that kind listed before)

Belt of Truth:shows all partially invisible characters and shows all items for what they are fairly rare

Gloves of Mothers Adrenalin:story is as follows(a mother was out in the field picking berries and left the baby alone on the floor when she came in there was a giant about to push her dresser on the baby the mother grabbed the giant and kicked him in the shin the giant ran away and she grabbed the dresser as it was inches from the baby and lifted it to standing position)
a smith started making this in commemoration, grants the wearing the ability to grab large rocks and hurl them at people or to bring back to your house for later using(looking for ores or stone crafting)

THE BOW OF GAAL\'DARON- This legendary bow was made for the Dermorians\' leader, Gaal\'Daron. THERE IS ONLY ONE, AND ONLY DERMORIANS CAN USE THIS.
His awesome power and and his kindness was \"transferred\" into the bow when he passed on to the next world.
While it sat in his tomb, a well renowned thief, Lasnoron, stole the bow for himself.
He then died later on, since his lack of elvish descent caused the bow to reject him. No one knows where his body lays...

ATTRIBUTES
-Because of its elvish descent, it has +20 damage when attacked from above.
-Gaal\'Daron was also swift in his wise actions, making the bow easier to reload.
-Its string is made of Gaal\'Daron\'s wife\'s hair, bound 127 times, the number of years old Gaal\'Daron was before he died.  This would make the wielder of this weapon +127 HP

Making stuff up is fun! :D

Yay! This thread is back to the top again! Well, kind of... Anyways, some more ideas.

Metallic Stones

Basically metal stones. These \'stones\' can be thrown or with a sling. These stones, due to being metal, have a small chance of knocking the target out. These stones are rather common, as amateur smtihers start out smithing these for practice.

Carrier Arrows

These arrows are arrows that can carry items with them. The larger and more magical an arrow is, the more items it can hold. You can scribble long notes on a note and fire it to someone when you have a really long message to say and the chat box won\'t be filled up. You can deliver items quickly and perhaps even save some clicks. These arrows, however, do not inflict any damage. They are simply \'carrier pigeons\' that send messages and items over to another person. Plus, they fly over walls. These arrows are not common, yet aren\'t rare.

Hyper Knife A dagger with use as both a meelee weapon and a throwing blade.  As a meelee weapon it has very fast attack.  As a throwing weapon, it travels incredibly fast.

Red Katana A red-colored katana with a searing hot blade. Is of the Red element.  Looks like a red streak when swung quickly.

No good ideas yet.

It\'s back on top thnx to ME... ya thanx... hold ur applause.
Anyway, here\'s one more suggestion.

THELIAN\'S SWORD- Thelian was a young lad when he discovered this sword in a field in his backyard. His devotion to learning how to wield it grew with this sword, making its wielder\'s WILL level get higher.

-While this sword is equipped, your level will gain x2 (or x1.5) faster
-Again, there is only one, but if you find a \"copy\" you can sell it to the first sucker you find if you have something better.

Two-handed sword , notably called \"Flamberge\"
Wielded by the biggest, burliest and sometimes most flamboyant mercenary troops of Switzerland and Germany...Massive two-hand swords were used to break the opposing army\'s front line... Carried by selected soldiers the two-hander would be rushed forward to break the heads off the enemy\'s pikes...Hand forged, superbly tempered blade, is complemented by a grip and ricasso covered in leather. Now with this little bit of history dead and gone, the way i see it, you can\'t have a good rpg without the ol 2h...Acuracy as well as power, it over whelms the Dwarven War Axe, Elven Mithral Long Sword , Orcish Double Battle Axe and so-on-and-so-forth...The reason the name \"Flamberge\"  has been choosen for this monstrosity of a weapon is for the fact that the blade is in an S or wavy shape...hence the name \"Flameberge\"
Average specs:
Overall-63 inches
Blade-46 inches long
1 7/8 inches wide
Wt.-6 lbs. 4 oz.
If you wish to know more about this and many other weapons Give me a shout at Stingerxl@lycos.com

I\'d just like to see some of this stuff in a game.  If it\'s too hard to code, oh well.

Signet Ring

A ring worn by a noble ( or someone who could afford it) in order to prove his identity.  Interesting idea for patterned seals comes to mind.  See Animal Crossing for ideas on pattern creation. Uncommon to Rare.  Made with wood/stone/metalworking.

Fake Signet Ring

A ring a scoundrel might produce by taking a waxed imprint of a ring, making a mould, making a mould of that mold, then casting the ring.  Would be useful in intrigue plots.  Would require high intelligence or agility to create (or tradeskills based on those attributes).

Slaver Cuffs

See Morrowind cept add your own twist.  Make them only usable on a PC by GM.  These could be a punishment system for bad acts.  Uncommon.  Made with metal/stoneworking.

Lockpick
To get into places other people don\'t want you to get to.
Or to retrieve items others want to protect.  Certain restrictions would need to be placed on this item so it could not be exploited.  Uncommon to Rare depending on need/use.  Made with metalworking and honed with weaponsmithing.  Law abiding citizens will probably not help you make this item.

Signal Whistle
For when you just don\'t wanna move/leave that hiding place but you want your ambush to go off right now.  Would emit a high pitched (maybe birdlike) noise.  Uncommon.  Made with metal/wood/stone?working

Rope
How all these other MMOGs forgot this I\'ll never know.  This has many many uses.  Could be tradeskill item for catching rabbits/squirrels.  Could be a way to climb trees or buildings.  Add grappling hook to make really interesting.  Could also be made into a fishing net to catch fish.  Could also replace ship\'s mooring if a line broke.  Horribly common.  Rope is soo cool!!  :D Rope would be made with weaving or leatherworking.

Marking Chalk
Something to help others figure out which way you went without having to sniff the ground.  Also something to mislead others when you don\'t want to be found.  Also could be used in creation of decorative items or in magical rituals.  Common to Uncommon, depending on need/use.  Made with stoneworking.  Low skill required to make.

Polished Amber Collar
For when you want to look stylish and protect yourself too.  This collar would be worn on the neck and  would help protect your head.  Would have either an affinity or an emnity with treefolk.  Would also help protect against some elemental attacks.  Rare. Jewelry crafting.

Cloak of Leaves/Grass/Marble
Other methods of concealment without having that complete invisibilty tick.  Maybe makes your name not show unless someone clicks on you.  High weaving/leatherworking skill to make an effective one.  Very Rare. (especially the stone cloak)

Mica Bow
A light longbow capable of being worn and used by even the weakest of characters.  Very fragile and prone to breaking if handled without extreme care.  A good way to be able to fire ballistically.  Perhaps some other gems might have the right qualities for the bending and shaping of a bow.  Rare.  Good masonry skill and some weaponsmithing to be able to create one.

Rapier
A weapon more for style than for damage potential.  When mastered it becomes dangerous.

Mushroom Salve
This nifty little item cures some hp just by putting it on your wounds.  (Must cut down time  :D )  Common.  Not as good as a healing potion.

Glow Rock
Sometimes even magical light can\'t reach everywhere.  That\'s when you carry one of these.  It\'s a torch.  Common to Uncommon, depending on need.

Null Sword
Just a sword that\'s completely devoid of magic.  In fact, if you get a hit off with it, you might temporarily knock out some of the magic effects your opponent has.  Or maybe damage his magic reserve.  Very Rare.

Null Ring
A ring, that when used, removes hostile magic cast on you.  It could also be a magic barrier that would knock off some magic damage.  Very rare.

Tuning Fork
To maintain instruments.  May also be very dangerous in certain areas.  Unsure as to if this even has bearing on the game.   :P

Musical Instruments
These are here for atmosphere and as alternative ways of making money.  They could be interfaced with a keyboard with the proper parameters.  Uncommon to Rare.  Made with metal/stone/wood/leather/clothworking.  Could also be imbued with magical affects to calm, enrage, confuse, or drain targets.

Ways to code would be to include all the chromatic notes (or certain ones if all remove from the mood of the game) and hold note buttons and breathe(no sound) buttons.  Would add a lot of fun to the game.  Especially with macros so a performer doesn\'t have to be musically inclined.

Divining Rod
In case you don\'t have a friend who can tell good rocks from bad ones, this rod\'s for you.  Use it to tell if you\'re at a good place to start mining or not.  Created with a rod and certain magics.  Uncommon to Rare.

If I think of any more I\'ll be sure to post em.

Hey, its me again, saving the thread from becoming part of the bottom of the barrel.

GUISHNU (pronounced gwee-shnoo) SCROLL-This ancient scroll teaches a deadly form of hand-to-hand fighting in which the learner would make all of his fingers touch each other, while striking with the ball of the wrist.

-When the scroll was first found, it was immediately recopied, since that it\'s original was too fragile to even be dared to move.  The founders of the scroll started a business of simply copying the scroll 100 times a day, and then selling them to a magic shop.  These are extremely common...for the right price.
-When learned, the fighter will assume the form and attack with great speed, power, and correct use of body mechanics.

(something I learned in Kung Fu)

Spiked brass knuckles

brass knuckles with spikes that to higher damage and can also be worn while carrying swords/sheilds etc...

Dagger of blight

a small slightly curved dagger with a gemstone blade that melts whatever it strikes--very rare and requires an Enkidukai craftsman to make

well thats all i can think of it\'d be cool to see them in the game

Practice Sword:  Made of wood, doesn\'t hurtnso you can practice with someone without getting peggeed for murder.
Kran Shavings Okay this idea is stupid, but here goes. When a Kran fights and gets hit considerably, chunks of rock break of that can be used in slingshots or something. So if a human fought along with a Kran it would be like symbiosis. Thinking of ammo.
Malice Blade A sword that can only be used by that Demon race. Since they can\'t stand blessed things this one is cursed.

Not exactly the most inspired ideas, but worth a thought.

Feline Slayer: A sword. Normally it does the damage of a sword. If you use it against the Enkidukai it\'s unstopable. Crafted by a mage from a normal sword, this sword contains a lot of the water element. Cats generally hate water, and this sword will plant it into their skin. The Enkidukai needs to be treated with the right medicines or spells, or wait for the effects to wear off. Not very common, but gettable. I guess Nolthrir mages wpuld be good at making this one.

Fungal disk: A shuriekin style disk specially made to encourage fungal growth. Does little damage itself. You can put any type of fungus into this so it can heal and kill. Not uncommon you need to get the fungi before you can put them in, and the disk cannot not be stored in your inventory while fungus is growing on it unless you aqiure a special cover.

Aerial Kite: A kite that you can throw out behind your slef while flying. Helps stabilize you during airborne combat and during tight turns. Doesn\'t require too much skill to make, but doesn\'t last long. Good for inexperience flyiers who may fall off during tough situations such as combat, tight turns or heavy loads. Experienced flyers with good beasts will prefer to go without it as it can slow you down limits your arsenal of moves. Think of training weels on a bike.

Lichen joining glove: A glove made of lichen for the Krans. If a Kran hits his opponent well with his fist his opponent will be molded to the kran. The kran can then use him as a fist or a throwing weapon. I dunno how this one would be crafted. I suggest that they be allowed only beyond the bronze gates and banned anywhere in Ilyakum including the arena.

Well see \"Flameberge\"  means Flame Blade...how could you not understand what \"Flameberge\" has to do with the blade shape when I say that the blade is an S or wavy shape, since it has Flame in the beginning of the name, regardless what is after, you should automatically think of a wavy form...

A shortsword with a blade of pure, solid ice. A very light, attractive sword with a steel and aluminum mixed handle. This sword is prefered stealth type characters.

Boots of Validus
Unique golden boots with small pairs of wings on each boot. They are lighter than air making the wielder of these boots levitate slightly off of the ground.

Siege Weapons:

Large weapontry that requires horses and buggys to move(mabey have smaller ones that require 2-4 to move) Then someone to assemble them(mabey a skill) Then require ammo, like large tree sized arrows for the big ballistas and large rocks for the catapults.

Dragon Scale Armor(or something):
Have dragons or some animal to be extremly rare and extremly hard to kill but from its hide you can create one single set of very very good armor.

Enchanting of weapons:
Some enchanting can be done just by one mage no items or anything

There should be high high level enchanting spell that requires alot of mages to be linked(http://www.planeshift3d.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=2008&boardid=11&styleid=2) toghether to cast.... also certain items to enchant a weapon or armor... and the items differ in affect... like a fang of a bat might add 1-3% life leech but a fang of a vampire dragon might add 15-20% life leech ext. ext.
Title: More Ideas
Post by: Achika on November 29, 2002, 07:03:17 pm
Here are just a few more ideas to add to this growing list.

Ring of Immoliation:
This ring enropes the wearer in a blazing aura that increases thier skill in the Fire Ways and any melee attack that a unit makes to the wearer of the Ring of Immoliation will recieve a set amount of damage from the fire aura.  A water/ice attack or spell from the Azure Ways will diminish the aura for a set time amount.

Gravity Twister:
A hammer that shifts gravity into it so any victim hit by the hammer will be knocked back 10-20 feet, although it doesn\'t always work.  It increases the smithing skill.

Gravity Disrupter:
A hammer that distorts gravity within a radius and slows down the movement speed of all NPCs in the radius of the wielder.  It increases the wielder\'s skill in the Brown Ways.  Dwarf only.

Paperweight:
A heavy rock that nullifies any movement bonuses or maluses to the bearer of the paperweight.  It does more than keeping your papers from blowing away  :)) .

Siphon Sword:
A sword that can steals strength from a target and gives it to the wielder for a period of time.  It isn\'t really stealing though, more like extended borrowing  :D .

Spirit of Animation:
A mystic stone that, when used, makes an inanimate object (such as a sword or glove) animated for a duration of time.  In this form the owner of the item may telepathically order the animated item to do taks such as attacking.  Also, if the object is hit in this form, it may be damaged or destroyed.  This doesn\'t apply to indestructable objects though.

Rake:
A farm tool that is a stick with metal at the end to... ummmm... rake things into piles.  It classifies as a pole weapon.  Now you can smack your foes and help keep nature tidy  ;) .

God\'s Beating Stick:
Feel the wrath of an old cranky god\'s stick as you are smited.  It is indestructable.

Catapult:
Launch various things at your foes or toss your friends away.  The heavier the tossed object, the more damage that will incur.  For instance, a rock will do more damage when catapulted instead of your lightweight elf friend.

Scythe of Pestilence:
A malicious farm tool that degrades the target\'s endurance for a period of time when hit.  Any good aligned people will lose endurance and luck when equiping this.  Any evil aligned people will gain endurance and skill in the dark ways when wielding this.

Syernia Bangle:
A bangle that increases mana regeneration by allowing the power of magic to flow through you more steadily.

Ringsaber:
A device that is a dagger worn around a finger.  It is useful if the main item held in that hand is knocked out because you have a substitute weapon already on that hand.  It is more than an overgrown toothpick  ;) .

Turkey:
Use this as a decoy to gain time from hostile enemies as they go after this Thanksgiving gobbler.  After it is destroyed it will drop 2 Turkey Drum Sticks.

Turkey Drum Stick:
Can be used as a blunt weapon or a tasty snack.  Yum  :D .

Vest of Slured Speech:

I don\'t know if someone already said this but, those swords were mainly used in large battles. In a game with small groups there probably isn\'t a lot of need for specialized weapons, but the kris design is really cool. Lugs would be very useful in any sword fight though.

Weapon - SnakeBlade:

a longsword made from woven bars of steel hammered into a blade.  lighter than any normal steel, so it would attack faster, as well as holder a better edge, for slightly more damage.

Weapon - Amphistaff

a staff of unknown composition.  In the hands of a skilled wielder, it can bend and shift it\'s shape to intercept blows or sneak past an enemies defence, but cannot form points, blades, etc.

Spell - Needlestorm

just a blast of needles, as an area attack spell, victims get hit for pathetic amounts of damage, but take a LOT of hits.

Weapon - Epee

like a rapier, but with a flat blade about 3/4\" wide.

Spell - Soul Strike

target takes X damage, caster loses 1/2X HP, caster chooses X

Spell - Soul Blast

X number of targets take X damage each, caster loses 1/2(X^2) HP
caster chooses X

EDIT  a few more...

Weapon - Katar

also known as a punch dagger.  brass knuckles with a foot long triangular blade on the front.

Spell - Fist of Talad

high level spell that does medium- high damage and throws target backwards 50-100 feet, depending on race(heaviness)

Siege Weapon - Trebuchet

everyone who has played AotE 2 will know what i\'m talking about.  Big thing, slings boulders.  I have built them, so i could help the modellers if they wanna do one, same for many siege engines.
just a few of my ideas,

Jessyn

Chaos Dragon  -  a deadly two handed sword (on its own a very rare and dangerous weapon) with a socket for a chaos crystal

Chaos Crystal - a crystal created when a dragons heart hits the ground. There are only 5 different crystals (ice, fire, thunder, wind, earth)
when the chaos crystal is placed into the Chaos Dragon the sword is given a higher attack and a elemental bonus depending on which crystal is socketed.

(of course you would first have to get your hands on a Chaos Dragon , which will be really rare, and then actually slay a dragon and take its heart to get the crystal)

I THINK THIS WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION

Great idea, but dragons should be very rare and hard for newbies to even get near one. In Helbreath they have 2 very strong monsters, Hellclaws and Tigerworms, some times GMs spawn a Hellclaw into both towns as an event and everyone wants to kill them. When there are like 5 strong chars actually doing some damage to a HC, there are 50 players dying around and stealing items from dead ppl with a stupid spell that lets you pick items from a distance.

What I\'m saying is that dragons should be hid well so that only one party would be fighting it, and when it dies and drops some great items and a Chaos crystal, the party would get it instead of a noob mage thief.

Title:
Post by: [shem] on December 12, 2002, 07:00:33 pm
good point,
dragons shouldnt be to rare (like there shouldn\'t be only like 1 in the whole game) . Make a resonable amount , like 5 or something, and put them deep in caves were there are lots of other monsters along the way. Ppl who arent good enough would die before even getting a glimps of it. And of course you would have to go in a party with a couple very trusted friends because every dragon drops only 1 chaos crystal per death. In order to get more you\'d have to wait quite a while before he respawns and you aslo need to heal becasue an incounter with a dragon isn\'t something you walk away with unhurt.

another suggestion -

Dragon Shield - a shield gained from completing Dragon Slayer ( a posible quest in the game) , this shield gives the user a high resistance to fire, making him less likely to burst into flames.
Title:
Post by: Aruneko on December 12, 2002, 11:28:12 pm
I don\'t think dragons should stay put; they should travel around, just not near towns.  And they should be nearly impossible to find, like 5 in the whole game IF the world is huge.
Title:
Post by: Nikech on December 13, 2002, 02:27:15 pm
Maybe those travelling dragons could make some attacks to towns, like epic quests for loads of players. When a dragon attacks it could leave before it dies so no one could get the crystal.

more general thing for weapons, certain weapon types should be more/less effective against certain monsters types ie hammer(crashing) weapons should be more effective against undead but less effective against something esle. this should bring in abit more varety and also its more realistic too :0

Grace of Arcanity:

A sword that relies on the wielders magical abilities and intelligence/wisdom rather than strength and weapon skill. In the hands of a skilled mage this blade will be one of the most deadly weapons in game.
Every thrust/slash etc. the caster attempts (doesnt matter if he actually hits (allthough a skilled mage will rarely miss)) will cost the wielder some mana as he uses his magic to command the sword.
Very rare (maybe even unique depending on the actual power given to it)

Sword of Light:

A quite ordinairy sword which deals fair damage but its blade gives light (kinda like a torch). It also does some extra damage to \'evil\' but only like 10-15%
Quite common.

ShadowSword:

About the same damage and rarity as the sword of light.
But it steals a bit of hitpoints rather than giving light. It also has the 10-15% bonus against \'good\'.

Pearl of smoke:

Not really a pearl but actually a small glass ball with a chemical mixture which generates thick smoke as the ball breaks when it hits the ground. It fogs up PC\'s sight
and halves the range from which monster spot you as long as either you or the monster are in the cloud.
These are very common and can be bought at most merchants.

pearl of smoke - i like it, and a far better name than Smoke Bombs. ;)

Kama  Basically a hand scythe, the original ninja used them - adapted from a farming implement by sharpening the end so you can chop with it like a military pick, as well as scythe ppl.

Pitclaws  claws that attach to the forearms, although intended primarily for climbing(PITon CLAWS), they can also do a fair amount of damage in close quarter fighting.

I would love to see the any items in the world could be used as a weapon. Breaking of a branch from a three and hitting something with it, frying pans, candle\'s, burning logs, pieces of meat, and so on.

The most important thing about the weapons are that there\'s a lot of them.
Make a sword, bend it, break it, twist it, change some features, anything. Make as many as possible. nothing is worse than going trough your online life using the same weapon all the time.

You do realise that this would require every model to be made up uf thousands of OTHER little models, and all of these would have to be kept track of by the server and would require a compleatly rewriten game engine, oh i have an idea, while we\'re at it, lets just rip out the Emotion Engine from our PS2s and solder it to our motherboards.

Ps. dont waste waste charactors link ;)

Pike 12 foot spear, designed for stopping charging cavalry, would work against charging monsters

scourge  think cat o three tails with the whips studded with pointy metal bits. a nasty weapon, designed to remove someones face.

Great Dagger ripped off from Ultima 7, a 2 handed dagger that turns into a greatsword when you swing it, then back to dagger after the swing. easy to conceal,  blocks like a dagger, hits like a greatsword.

halberd a cross between an axe and a spear, it\'s long, pointy, and good for hacking at things.

magebow  a strange weapon, it \'squirts\' bolts of pure magic, which can have varie effects on target, from damage(any type) to healing, to minor buffs/curses

I\'m new here on the forum and I have some neat ideas! :))

These weapons is for players who wanna get away quickly from their foe, or just trap them to make pets of them.

Net-gun:  (Got this idea from \"Predator\") When fired, it shoots out a net over the foe, making it immobile until hit, or until the player destroys the net (the time it takes depends on the players strenght, if you\'re too weak it may not even be possible to get out by yourself).
This weapon are often used by Nolthrir because it is good catching fish with as well. It\'s also very popular among gladiators (if there will be any)

blowgun:  The blowgun can be used with many types of ammunition. There\'s a poisonous type of dart which will poison the foe, making it lose some stamina and lose life.
Then there\'s a sedative type which will make the foe lose most of it\'s stamina, or even become unconsious.

Blackjack:  A club known from the game \"thief\" It\'s good for knocking a foe unconsious from behind.

Mindstaff: This powerfull staff will drain the stamina from your foe really fast. You\'ll need a spell to resist the draining.
It\'s useful if you don\'t wanna hurt a creature (I suggest GM\'s will have this staff  8) )

Smokebomb: It\'s just what it sounds like. A smokebomb is good if you wanna get away from a foe, or you could use it for the next party :D

I just hope that you will be able to use most of the items you can pick up as weapons. Kill an animal take out its bones and teeth, wrap it up with the fur and you got yourself a nice mace. What I\'m really looking foward to though is the use of whips, theyre rare in video games, i guess its fairly hard to program, but it is under the dagger proficiency in character creation so you should be able to use one. how fun!

This thread has come back from the dead... *Evil Laughter heard in background* Anyway, my ideas that have revived this thread.

Eyeclasses of Farsight: These glasses can be worn under a helmet. When worn, you can see for further distances than usual. These glasses also enable you to see things closeup as well. They also protect your eyes. (Note: The availability of this item, or whether it is in the game or not, depends on whether you can use telescope-like things in the game to see far distances.)

Book of Riddles: This book allows you to dumbfound creatures and players alike, either to get somewhere without fighting or for other such reasons. The book has many riddles, many commonly used ones, as well as their answers.

Attachable Wings: These wings can be attached to something, and that something will have the ability to fly. These are powered with a magical enchantment to allow the flying of even the most heaviest of things, as well as to pretty much become \'part\' of the thing. If the enchantment is dispelled, and the thing is flying...

Should there be lists of possible ideas for Spells and Magical Items, Quests, and so on? Are the quests up to the Devs, or can the players \'feel very involved?\' Why am I asking such questions? Will these questions ever be answered?

Glove(s) of shifting

When you put one of these gloves on, your appearance/size will decrease 15%, wear another and you will shrink 30% (and perhaps they should give some bonuses to dodging or dex)

this add\'s a lot of fun, and enables more diversity in ones appearance... now one is able to shrink oneself ;)

(stole this from Anarchy btw :P)

Creature Sling

(Bad name, but it does get the point across): This sling allows you to pick up a creature and fling it. Somewhere. It will only hurl living creatures (like no rocks and stones), and there is no guarantee that the creature flung will be killed. There is a guarantee of teh creature being injured, though. There is a limit to the size and weight of the creature flung, though, but there are many different sizes of slings. The larger the slling, the larger the creature/amount of creatures can be thrown that can be flung. This item may need tweaking.

Will add more later.

Kran chains

this is hard to describe but i will have an image of what i mean as soon as village photos is up again. But imagine huge arm braces/knuckle dusters made of oversized chains which also wrap partly around the body for extra defence.
[Edit: see kwartz pic in the ps portraits thread -skain]

Magus board

As a form of transport a small circular board which may be ridden using mana and offering slight flying abilities.

Kran siege weapon

For those unusual krans who actually took the time to become archers as an high end weapon and somewhat characteristic weapon, a huge siege bow which krans may carry on their shoulders although having such a weapon may have disabilities such as running disabled.
(detritus\' weapon from discworld XD)

Wrist Rod

Attatched in the same way as cats claws, for sourcerors with style.

Singing Animal

A singing animal is a random animal that is pulled out of a kit and sings. Pretty straightfoward. Not what it\'s supposed to be used for, though. A singing animal can be used as a means of distraction, if yoiu want to get somewhere and there is something blocking the route, or simply amuse your friends, enemies, and bystanders alike. This is usually a fake animal that sings as well.

Tracker

Once again, an item that you can tell what it is just be looking at the name. Well, the concept, not the thing itself, like what it loocks like, for example. Actually, a tracker poses in various forms as well, from an innocent leaf that looks inflated to a shrub that looks like it\'s folllowing someone or something. THe tracker is used to track people down and locate them, or to follow someone or something. Like footsepts. They can be used as \'advance scouts,\' as well, with the slight disadvanatage of never comng back. The tracker usually doesn\'t fail, but there are methods of avoiding it.

Books on Creature Habits in the Stone Labryniths and Other Places Outside of Yliakum

These books are basically zoological information on the many creatures in the Stone Labryniths and Other Places Outside of Yliakum. These may aid many travellers in their journeys, and contain many commonly found and rarely found creatures in the places mentioned before. HOwever, there are some creatures found in those places and are missing from the books, as well as missing information on other creatures found in the book... This may be found at your nearest library or bookstore in Ylakum, namely, Jericho\'s Library.

I think.

I would like to think that this game is going to stand out beyond all others. When smithing in this game, why be limited to making what every one eles already has?

I suggest a primitive way to \"mod\" weapons to your liking. Say at a certain level you can add certain features. Like ex. I have a reg. sword and at lvl 25 smithing I can now add spikes near the handel. lvl 40 I could make the sword longer, thicker...

this of course would have to be added to a database on the server or somthing. so mabey your idea has to be verafied by the team 1st.

God Bless,

The only problem to your custom weapons idea is that A: Either a weapon will have to be made for every possible combination (just give up before taking that too seriously) or B: every weapon and part that will be hooked to the weapon will have to be made and then I suppose parts of the weapon where pieces can be added (multiple choice) would have to be programed in there... In the end you are back to a multiple choice cookie-cutter format... sorry

Must... keep... thread... alive!

Torch

Aye. The torch. The thing that lights up your pass and signals to everyone nearby \'I am here! Come get me! I am... AAAAAAAHHHH!!! EWWW!!\'

Anyway, a torch, as well as being what the above is, can also be a weapon in combat. You can throw it at your opponents and let everyone know that the opponent is over there and lose your light source, or use it in melee combat to burn the opponenet. A very early weapon that uses the element of fire in their attacks.

Enchanted Protective Goggles

These goggles allow you to look ino things without fear of being petrifies, killed, frightened, and so on. For example, if you come across a Basilisk and are wearing one of these, you can look into its eye without fear of being killed. These goggles also pretect the eye against arrows and stones, but aren\'t that great against swords and the like. These goggles also enable you to look through fog as if it were clear as well.

Basilisk Eye

A very rare item to come across, the eye of a Basilisk is usually rendered harmless without anything to support the ability to kill opponetns just by staring at it. Or so is thought. However, there are ways of bringing the eye back to life, like with potions. It can be used to simply kill others if they see the eye, petrify, freeze, burn, and so on, but not all. Just one enchantment. The Basilisk Eye can then be put into a box to hide it from unwary people accidently getting themselves killed, petrified, frozen, burnt, and so on, but this is a great weapon. While some of its power is greatly diminished, as it can kill (or other things)  if someone stares long enough and is close enough, it possess a great power to lure them into staring and then pick them off one at a time. Just one by one, but it can be attached to a helmet.

(Great is the power of desperation to keep something alive.)

Enchanted viney armor. Once attacked, armor spews thorns, creating small damage, but lots of thorns.

Battle Horn: A horn that can summon the aid of nearby people when blown. While not always successful, the battle horn can be used to frighten enemies and summon friends to your aid. It can be used as a signal, and a tool to rouse the fighting spirit of friends.

Foldable Ladder:A ladder that can be used to reach high places and that you can easily carry around. You can get into high places, climb into trees, enter buildings through the second or third floor, and so on. A useful tool for those who wish to remain hidden, and people can climb these more easily than with ropes.

Two-Man Saw: This saw requires two people to use it. While anyone can use it as a weapon in battle, it is not that effective as a weapon. Rather, it is a far more effecient tool for cutting down trees and annoying moving trees. Timber may be used for many purposes, like building, crafting, fletching, and so on.

Excellent, now we shall re-organize it according to this. I think. Fire Whip

Use: Used to do immence damage from fairly far away.

Apearence  A long whip..  (a couple meters) that is basically made of fire.   The whip never goes out.

Availability:  I was thinking that you have to do a quest first..  Then the person you did the quest is willing to MAKE them for you... for a high cost.

sorry if i am repeating some, but i didn\'t get a chance to read through all 5 pages.

My ideas though-

Name: Boots of the Escape
Description: Boots which contain the effect- Black Hole
The effect creates a literal black hole which allows you to be teleported to a random spot in your current zone. For escape purposes when you get in over your head in a battle.
No other stats though.
Would be pretty hard to attain.

---------------

Name: Blessed Katana
Description: A carved wooden katana which posses some white magic. Has a higher percent of damage against monsters which are evilly aligned or are wearing a black magic BP, Legs, or Arms.

----------------

Name: Axe of the dragon slayer

Description: A legendary axe which contains mysterious powers. Would be a quest item which would involve you having to quest for the handle piece, and kill a dragon for a fang or claw. The fang/claw would need a high skilled blacksmith to shape into a blade. Then after you have the 2 pieces only YOU can combine them. which would take some type of skill...
A high end item, but real hard to attend. May want to make it unable to be sold or traded.

as a few idea of my own how about boot and elbow blades like assasins.
Power balls that fit into the palm of the wrists to emphasise magic spells, u know like gloves.
And perhaps loads of different herbs such as ones that turn u into things, like the injection thing from the old fps sin.

Title: my weapon and item ideas...
Post by: Jagua on August 28, 2003, 10:55:15 pm
I would love to see some visibly different bows.  Something that would allow you to tell the difference between a short bow and a long bow easily.

Equally, different bow shapes/forms (recurve, long, curved, etc.) would be wonderful to allow the Bowyer to specialize and have a little pride in craftmanship.

I would also like to see a quiver visible on any \"ranger\" characters who choose to use a bow as a primary weapon.  It doesn\'t fit to have a guy pull arrows from his fur when pincushioning an enemy.  Just ruins the mystique.

Thanks!

My favouritest weapon in all games is the mighty shotgun, but that wouldn\'t really fit in with planeshift so...

Boom gun: Knocks monsters back a certain distance depending on their size. Useful for escaping from powerful monsters, or knocking them off cliffs when fall damage is implemented.

Will you be able to summon monsters a la final fantasy? That would be cool.

Post by: elscouta on September 08, 2003, 07:13:25 pm
Hmmm...

There is a lot of sword and armours put I haven\'t seen many of staffs (I have read only the three last page)

Here\'s my list of wizard primary weapons:

Newbie staff: (or Apprentice staff )
Rarity: evrywhere
Price: almost free
Magic power: really low
Attack power: low
This staff is one of the most trustfully friend of the newbie. Simple spells will never fail with this staff but they will probably be really
weak.

Training staff:
Rarity: common
Price: very low
Magic power: low
Attack power: very low
Increase slightly the learning of spells

Guild staff:
Rarity: -
Price: free
Magic power: vary (but generally low~medium
Attack power: vary (but generally low)
Magician guild masters can create these staff to give to their members. They are not over-powerful staffs and their power depends of the skills of the person who makes them.

Elemental staff:
Rarity: common
Price: medium
Magic power: low (non enchanted) -> medium (enchanted)
Attack power: low
These staff can be enchanted with the four elemental ways. That requires a good level in this way. Once the staff is enchanted, the enchantment decrease with the time until it vanishes. An enchanted staff give a bonus when his user cast a spell in the same way of the enchantment. The enchantment has also other effects:
Azure: Staff weight becomes 0
Water: Froze the opponent
Brown: Increase your strength
Red: Burn your opponent

Light staff:
Rarity: common
Price: medium
Magic power: medium
Attack power: really low
Increase the power of the white spells. Also give light.

Staff of darkness:
Rarity: rare (only some merchant are ready to sell unholy staffs)
Price: high
Magic power: high
Attack power: medium

Pilgrim staff:
Rarity: common

Increase the stamina. Wearer recover more quickly of his wound.

Staff of wisdom:
Rarity: rare
Price: can\'t be buy (found in an easy magical quest)
Magic power: low
Attack power: low
Increase really the learning of spells

Crystal staff:
Rarity: common
Price: medium
Magic power: high
Attack power: very low
Increase the power of all spells but breaks easily. (Power should have a cost)

Blessed staff:
Rarity: rare (only some church can create these specific staff)
Price: high
Magic power: really high
Attack power: pitiful
Increase greatly the power of white spells. Drain mana, hp and black skills if the wearer knows black spells.

Staff of the wilderness:
Rarity: really rare (can be found in some unknown huts)
Price: -
Magic power: low
Attack power: high
Increase the walking speed, the stamina and the power of the brown way. Summoning and pet taming are also really more effective with this staff

Planeshifter staff:
Rarity: amazingly rare
Price: don\'t hope to buy it
Magic power: amazing
Attack power: medium
Allows teleport

That\'s all :-)
