Title: no acces to the server

hi i  am new and i wante dto conect to the server, but then there was the message no conection to the server please check the internet page or the forum.
i am not shure if my username is the rigt is it the beginnig of my e-mail adress?
i have updated planeshift but there is still this mistake.
can u help me please

if you\'ve been able to update the client then, it seems it\'s not a firewall related problem. I too think that the updater connects to the same server as the game, so, I wonder if you just had bad luck and tried to join the game when the server was rebooting from a crash.

The updater uses plain http, so if you can surf the web, you should be able to update. The game itself uses a different protocol, and may be blocked by mis-configured firewalls.

On the Login page, where you insert your (complete) email and the password there is \"servers\".
Which is the number next to the only visible server (I think Laanx?)

when i load the client there is usually a number around 200 but when i enter my password it says fail next to it, i assume that means the server is down.

When it is fail it means that server is down at the moment.
Probably you were a bit unlucky to try it out when the server crashed or something.

Well yesterday all monster crashed. They didn\'t want to fight and were showing in strange places.
Today server if offline. :(

Yeah I get the same thing.  When i first start it up it says the server is fine.  Then after entering password it says fail.  Does that mean its down or there is a problem on my end?

I have a theory, perhaps they are taking the time to wipe out the character database, like it said on the server MOTD.LEt\'s hope so, so we can get the painful thought that are characters are doomed out of our heads at last.

I highly doubt it - a news post would probably preceed this as a warning to players.

it is back.

i updated, but only the usual updater.txt thing.
so probably not an update.
also, the chars havent been wiped, because i just logged on.

and no-one seems to know anything....

The server was unreachable for an unclear reason.
It has been restarted and that solved the problem.

It was not down for an update or for a db (char) wipe, when there will be an update that requires the server to be down you will see a message on laanx.fragnetics.com like all the other times.

I\'ve been playing planeshift for awhile and liked it so I installed it on my other better computer. It updated fine so I started it, were it shows the numbers next to the list of severs it show \"Fail\". What is going on, I know the sever is online because my other computer can log on but this newer better one can\'t. It only shows \"Fail\". It updated so it conected, maby i have to open the port thing on windows firewall or something??? but i forgot what the port is. please post help :))

A warning to do what exactly? For what reason do you need a warning before the wipe? There is nothing you can safe or keep anyway.

There have been news posts in the past before each major change to the system. I presume the dev team would like to warn players that have registered for accounts after CB was released that their characters will be gone, so as not to result with several dozen threads about the \"errors.\" A warning that players will have to recreate characters? This seems right to me.

Yesterday the server went down about noon my time EST (US).   Awhile ago, a GM told me after the wipe  all we will have is our name(s) and actually we will be able to delete our characters that we had developed.
So all of us will have to redevelop our characters and i am glad.   i know much more about character development than the first time I tried or even the third time.      I fourth time I did it was more pleasing with the results but I had to upload to see the results (stats).   i have developed two characters to sword level 62-66, etc.   I may decide to just use one character in my play.

Felix who plays a Dwarf and an Enkidukai.

server is still down for me.. laanx website won\'t load either..  mmm.. 24hrs.. and counting..   ... Felix.. your comment.. are you saying the server is down... and that it\'s because of the wipe.. or is the server down.. and you were just chatting about the eventual wipe?

The server is down and not for an update. As I said in other posts if there would have been an update you would have seen laanx.fragnetics.com up and with a nice \"news\" message on it informing about the server update as it has happened all other times.

Since the website laanx.fragnetics.com is down you can easily deduct that the problem is related to the server and not to an update or wipe or whatsoever.

well, all i have to contribute here is that the motd about the wipe has been there for at least a month and a half. so we all have learned that the word \"soon\" is 100% relative.

like: \"the sun is going to explode soon\"

when place in the perspective of our lives.. it won\'t blow up soon at all.. but when placed in the perspective of the universe.. its like the flash on a camera. :)

m8s i think the server is down and wont be back again.they would warn us hat mf server will be down and the posted new download so they didnt know that too.i downloaded new download and it is a peace of shit i cant go register or go on server so that means what i just sad the server is down i repeat the server is down. lol

Unfortunately I can\'t understand 90% of your post, but I can tell you to watch your language. The server will be back again, so it is a matter of patience. You don\'t need to post \"The server is down,\" because Acraig himself has addressed the issue in another thread. Looking around before posting may be a good idea. As for the downloaded client, if you think it is not worth your time, then please leave. I guarantee that your kind will not be missed here.
