ALREADY FIXED DONT WORRY ABOUT IT! THX FOR YOUR CONCERN THOUGH
ok im kind of stressing out about this so a little help or reassurance would be nice.
As of recently I had my computer reformated. The hardware is till exactly the same.
before i did this, Planeshift ran perfectly, even with sound and 1024X768 resolution and no adaptive camera and all that.
well since the reformat i had to download planeshift again (the latest version 3.00.10 or something like that), update obviously, and then i was good to go. when i try to play though, the initial loading screen, when you very first open the game, goes really slow and there is a message at the top stating \"crystalspace.canvas.openglwin: No hardware acceleration\", the story is the same with everything. a ridiculously low frame rate. even typing is slow when i try to put in my name. the game does work but movement is practically impossible. maybe i need to update my display drivers but i seriously doubt it, as i hadnt done that before.
my system
celeron 1.3 ghz
512mb ram
ati radeon 8500 128mb
like i said, the game worked perfectly before the reformat, so i dont know what the difference is. I am a dedicated fan to the game and im kind of freaking out because i may never be able to play it agian. so please help!!!

Ah, but did you re-update drivers? Slow perfornamce, and a line saying \"No hardware acceleration\" definately mean your graphics card is not being used properly.

which drivers do i need? i go to ati\'s website and go to drivers an into ati radeon 8500 and theres like 5 choices i dont know what to do. im kind of uneducated in the fields of graphics drivers

well............it turns out that it was my display drivers after all. i downloaded the catalyst 5.6 and now the game wroks great again and that message went away.
thx for the suggestion, that was going to be my next move if i didnt receive any other suggestions.
