Title: Thread Ressurection
Post by: ramlambmoo on July 18, 2005, 04:00:58 pm
On alot of other forums, they have a Built in feature which stops users from posting in threads which havnt been posted in for more than 6 months.  The only way they can be posted in if if a Moderator re-opens the thread.  Looking at the number of times this happens here, i think perhaps something like this could be useful here.

Sounds like a good idea in theory, but I think in the Wishlist threads should remain open until a Moderator manually closes them - when you\'re giving suggestions, or found one from long ago that you think you can clean up or add something to, making a new thread for the same idea is a waste.

Otherwise, however, this may be rather useful. Not sure how possible.

I would vote a \"Yes\" on this feature. Mostly on the fact I have yet to read a single interesting or informative resurection in a thread. Perhaps I\'m just reading the wrong necro\'s.

And maybe monkeys would fly out of my rear.  :]

Resurecting threads is not something that is done for experienced posters like Kixie, it is done by and for newbies.  If a newbie uses the search feature and finds an interesting thread, they might want to comment on that thread.  If you lock the thread then the newbie will just make a new thread.  Then when flamed about using the search function the newbie can reply that the tread was locked and they were forced to make a new thread.
