How about the ability of being able to drop a plant (mushroom) on the ground and have it grow into many more mushrooms whilst you wait? This could be part of a herbologists or alchemists job? The better your skill and the more mushrooms you drop on the floor, the more they grow and multiply.
You could rate certain plants harder to grow than others by making them take more time. Im not sure if anyones thought of this or if its been mentioned before but just an idea.

Gardens! And... garden raids? Oh how scandalous :D Might be nice, actually, to find some rich soil and plant a few things here and there. Though I doubt you\'d be able to grow real \"wild\" plants - it would be better if they were mere \"tame\" versions, and perhaps not as effective as the ones that grow naturally. That way, there would still be a need and a use for the plants that grow without tending.
-
I want a garden to myself in my little country house for my cookings!!! :D
Wild plants would be awsome too... not just when we drop a seed but when bigger trees drop one and no one picked it up it would start growing...
-
Yeah, that\'s a nice idea, but I think there is a problem. Every time someone drops a seed, the server must register this event, so that everyone can see it and when you\'re not logged in the plant still exists.
This is a big charge for the server, maybe it\'s better to use server power (and memory) for other tasks.

Here\'s a thread where alot of this was beaten to death: farming in ps idea (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=14960&boardid=11)
Feel free to beat on it some more, though... :P

There has got to be a better way to organize the Wishlist. Maybe the stickies need to be updated.
-
Karyuu, you always have the best flame animations. :P
Yeah, I agree, many aspects of the forum could do with a little bit of organization. It took forever for someone to hear my plea to kill the useless \"Official Feature Requests\" thread... The bugs/tech help forums could use an up-to-date FAQ, and the master wish list thread needs to be current. And, not just a massive thread; one locked post that\'s edited to update. (no one ever reads the long winding messes)

I agree, the server you are playing on does not have unlimited bandwith and, more important, isn\'t free.

Any reason why you want this idea to be implemented, or is it just becuse it\'d be yet another stupid/cool way to make money?
-
Well, if there is going to be woodcutting and you allow to chop down trees, they must grow again somehow.
You can make them just \"respawn\" or make a system where the trees normally grow from seeds, get old, and fall down.
Registering each and every tree in PS would probably require much memory. Registering only the chopped-down trees and respawning them eventually is probably much easier.
Thinking of it a bit more, I find that the trees have to be kept somewhere anyway. If they can be cut down, they cannot be just part of the landscape. So they could grow in places which are considered good for growing trees, and are near other trees when nothing is in the way.
But if many people started cutting down trees there would be none left in a short time (assuming they grow for some 100 years at least - hundreds of in-game years is still a very long time). But there could be some \"fast growth\" spell (not neccessarily available to PCs), and some NPCs wandering around the cleared areas and casting it occasionally :)
Or woodcutters could contract mages to grow the trees for them :D
However, growing other things like mushrooms would get out of hand easily. There is a lot of space, mushrooms are small, and if mushrooms could grow virtually everywhere (or under trees), you would get zillions of mushrooms in no time.
But in reality there are sort of \"mushroom spots\" where they grow in plenty, and they are rare anywhere else. So it may not be to bad either.
Hmm, although farming may seem a bit different, the farming thread (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=14960&boardid=11) is at least related. They think in there that growing everything everywhere is feasible, who knows.

If you\'re not editing within about a minute since you made the thing, it\'s common courtesy to label your edit. (if it\'s just to fix a typo or a link, most people just say so at the bottom) Otherwise, people who have already read the original don\'t know what was added.
Edits bump up threads as new, just like new posts, btw.

You people are stupid, I\'m sorry but this is retarded.
You are getting tons of ideas from Runescape and suggesting them here, Planeshift will never have these updates, so go back and play your little Runescape and cut some wood to make a fire to cook something, whatever you do, stop ripping off ideas.

I\'ve never played the game that shall not be named, thank you very much. I\'m stealing all my ideas from Harvest Moon. :P
But seriously, don\'t be so rude. Yeah, there\'s too many \"I saw this in and I think we should put it in PS\" threads. And, most of them have nothing useful in them. But, there\'s not much we can do about that. Just humor them and pick their ideas apart. Some of them are actually good, and will actually be used. (this one for example (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=17894&boardid=11))
Frankly, the other thread (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=14960&boardid=11) on the subject was more about creating a dynamic world, than farming. The farming idea however, does have some useful concepts in it. Don\'t dismiss things so easily.
