Is it just me or have we had a relaxation of Moogies name guidelines, just lately there seems to be a proliferation of names that are not in the spirit of RP and a couple which are downright offensive (Spazmatic for one).
Just wondered what peoples views were on the matter and will the rules be back in place after the wipe.

Indeed there has been a sad decision to relax enforcement of the naming rules, making it basically nonexistant. This has been a slap in the face of every serious RPer and IMO took away all credibility of PS to be \"different from the other MMORPGs\" and \"encouraging RP\".
It is my strong opinion that this was a really bad move and should be undone ASAP. In fact, I think that even before this relaxation the enforcement was severely lacking, but it was by far better than it is now.

I dont make the rules, i just follow them, dont like the way this MMORPG is set, go make your own one.
*shrug* i dont agree with the slacked rules, but we have no chance of changing them, its what the Dev\'s think is suitable, and thus, it is suitable

And here was thinking it was just a decision by the GMs.
If the devs continue \"encouraging\" RP by discouraging it, like they did by
- adding the Poverlevelling, I mean, Duelling Points
- adding the Powerlevelling stats page
- implementing fighting before anything else
- relax the naming rules in order to please the 1337ers
then honestly they are just as bigoted liars as the average politician is. If they say the want and encourage RP, then they must actually encourage it, not hinder it by catering to everyone but RPers.
This is not the enviromnent I envision, and frankly, the \"RP encouraged\" promise was what actually made me download and stick with PS.
The least thing the devs should do is to remove the lie about RP from the website, to bring back at least a bit of honesty. :tdown:

Sorry, but I can\'t help feeling betrayed and lied to. While obviously the devs can do whatever they please with the game itself, they are still not above etiquette, so there is no excuse for them to be telling lies. :tdown:

If it is suitable to use an offensive name for any reason then I am probably in the wrong place, unless someone would like to explain to their local Spastics Society why Spazmatic is not offensive. I can give you some numbers or emails for my local society or for my neighbour.

Demarthl, you\'re out of line. Just because you\'re a GM doesn\'t mean you can be rude to people who are upset by the dev\'s immaturity. Sometimes I think that it would be good if devs were demoted to purely technical status and the decisions were made by some of the more dedicated, and responsible players. People such as Monketh, Kada(if she were around), Karyuu have all proved their worth to the community, and there are other rising stars who obviously have the best interests of the game at heart and are knowledgeable as well, poeple such as Seytra and Under. Wouldn\'t this be a great game if they made the decisions...

If you can structure a naming policy which is both easily understandable and clearly defined with no vague, objectional points which could differ depending on opinion, please, go ahead. The naming rules are not set in stone and we wish to continue to improve them.
Bare in mind that, whatever the rules are, the GMs are the ones who have to enforce them and get all the flak for enforcing them. It is unfair to blame the law on the police. Suggest something better, or put up with it. I\'m afraid complaining and calling the devs \'immature\' just because they can see strict policies are not needed in an alpha tech-demo is also unfair, but that, also, is just my opinion. One of many, and not all can be satisfied.
So, to reiterate: construct something better and PM it to a GM. It will be discussed in our next weekly meeting and also shown to the admins for their opinion.
Just a precautionary note: Don\'t waste your time if you\'re going to try writing something horribly strict. PS is not yet ready for such serious measures.
I think I will push the idea of \"Casual\" and \"RP\" servers at Talad now. It is clearly needed, as no happy medium will ever be met with extremists battling on both sides like this.
