Is it normal for bit torrent to download at about 1kb per second cause right now its going to take more than two days to downlaod the latest version, which i would have to do if the updater wasnt so buggy and crashed my whole game. I dont think ive ever had a smooth update yet.
-
It?s normal... the speed depends on the seeders uploadspeed and how many ppl downloading from him at the same time etc...
the more seeders the better speed...
-
i think i know already but explain no me what a seeder is
-
seeder = uploader, uploading the files from his/hers computer so you can download it on your

i officiallly deem bit torrent as......................total crap

Don\'t blame Bit Torrent. Blame the people who leech without seeding. *shrug*

it\'s pretty crap because no one is offering the file for download. im on 14% atm. i\'ll be hosting the file on my webspace in about... 8 hours... if you want to wait around for that instead. i\'ve just set my torrent to upload @ 512kb, so while im asleep people can get... but ive still got more to download.

i downloaded mine at 165.37 kb/s (My max) once it got going, most likly your useing a Crapy client like the Origanal Bit torent and not somthing like Azureus, your Severly limiting the upload speed (on perpes or not) a lot of people won\'t upload to somone that isent uploading them selfs now days and or you have Ports Blocked.
Bit Torrent is not at Fault any one of many Resons could be cousing the slow speed.
Just remember if the Hub you are trying to Conn to is down you will have a hard time geting to the other people iploading and downloading.

Yes, it\'s crap because it works poorly behind NAT.
I am not sure how the protocol would need to look like if it worked even behind NAT. But the fact most PCs aren\'t directly on a public IP address makes BitTorrent less helpful than one would wish.
I can usually get tens of kb/s download and 200-300 kb/s upload on a fast connection with a pulic IP, while I can easily get 1MB/s download from a web server.
On a slow connection the download speed from the web is somewhat limited. But BT is limited even more as I cannot get the port translated properly and cannot accept incoming connections.
Plus the damn ISPs put transfer limits on the connections so I would not allow uploading for long.
