the easy one is buried in your vid card settings.

i don\'t know if/where there is one buried in game.

Maybe that\'s the problem then. Contrast will just make darker areas darker. You need gamma or brightness.

WTF? Did you even read the answer? He said yes, but it\'s hidden in control panel somewhere.

I\'m playing on an LCD too, and I don\'t have problems seeing anywhere - well, except when the darkness bug hits.

Before I got my new screen, I found that having Warcraft III open and minimized increased the brightness of everything dramatically.

I do not consider this to be an exploit.  I consider it a fix.  Now, everyone is free to correct me on my opinions of course.

contrast != gamma

as moogie said contrast makes your whites whiter and your blacks blacker. gamma does something along the lines of increasing the base brightness of everything.

but rumage around the vid card settings there should something aong the lines of gamma there or consult the manu for more info.
