I have followed the instructions carefully but every time I try to start up psclient it immediately quits (well after about 3 seconds).

Yet, again, please try the new Updater.jar in the guide thread. If it still won\'t work after that, then post your problems in this thread (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=18497&boardid=32). Make sure to include system specs and OS info.

I have similar results. I ran the new Updater.jar today, etc. and still get a crash when I try psclient or psclientCMD.jar. I use Mac OS X ver 10.3.9 on 800 MhZ PowerPC G4, Memory 768 MB SDRAM, 32 MB VRAM.
When I click on Planeshift 3D/Contents/MacOS/psclient
I get:

Did you check \"Update all files\"? This is important, as you need to get the updated vfs.cfg file from the repository.

I downloaded 0.3.010 yesterday. And today i used PlanesshiftCB_v0.3.010.dmg to create 0.3.010. Then I downloaded updater.jar and used it in PS 3D to update with all files checked. I then tried to open pssetup which crashed and psclient which showed a mirror with 0.3.011 at the top and then it crashed.
Of course maybe the PS is down I am trying but use to be I could get to the point where it said the server is down but now I can not get to that prompt.
Oh well come Xmas I wil upgrade my system and see what happens. Maybe even buy a PC which has its set up problems.
The vfs.cft file was dated Sunday 10:45 p.m.; pssetup dated Sunday 11:10 p.m.; psclient dated May 27, 2005, 1:45 a.m.

Could you post the latest console log (if it\'s different)? If you have the correct VFS, the \"WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\' \" message should go away.

It looks like the usual startup bug. Again, hopefully it will be fixed by a new build. Now I just need to find dfryer...

just remember, when you\'re using updater.jar, it has to be in the Planeshift 3D folder. Update all files. You MUST DELETE vfs.cfg, BEFORE UPDATING. That alone would have saved me hours of downloading/updating.

yes sandman, but these guys (and me) are having the game crash due to bugs, not a permission bit problem, as i understand it, deleting the vfs.cfg and updating won\'t solve this problem =( but hopefully chaos will contact dfryer soon so a new build will take of these bugs for all of us that still can\'t play, thanks to dfryer and chaos for all their work =)

My updater.jar is in my PS 3D folder.
I tried deleting vfs.cfg before updating and it still does not work.
But I suppose i can try again.

I have tried everything recommended without success.
(G4 dual 1Ghz, 2MB L3 cache per processor, OS 10.3.9)
I am now patiently waiting for the full download package to be posted on the website. Unless someone comes up with a solution in the meantime.
I seem to be hanging up on a font problem (dejavusans.ttf):

Same problem here. I renamed a font to be DejaVuSans.ttf and it doesn\'t complain about the fonts anymore, but still segfaults right after \"psEngine initialized\". 10.3.9 here too, so I would guess that it might be a problem related to 10.3.9. Are the binaries compiled to be compatible with 10.3.9?

it says that Crystal Space runs best under 24 or 32 bits.
My Computer information says i have:
Resolution: 1024 x 768
Depth: 32-bit Color
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Main Display: Yes
Does anyone know why my mirror is off and how to change it? I have searched my two manuals on OS X. I know how to go to Preferences and select Displays and change it there. But I can find nowhere where i can
make Mirror to read 32 bit. Does the above with \"Mirror: Off\" mean that all mirrors are not in 32 bit?
I have noticed that some PCers have make requests on bits and received no replies.

Is there anyone who has the same IMac and can get on to PS. I assume some Mac users on getting on PS or at least I hope so. I think we need to compare a working Mac user\'s setup with one whose system is not working.
There does seem to a variety of Mac computers who systems now crash.

Did you contact any of them directly? I\'m still waiting for a reply to my last post. If that doesn\'t happen, I\'ll have to wait for a final package to be posted up on the Planeshift download page. Is that even being worked on? I hope so...
It would be helpful to compare notes with those who got the client to work also, to see what\'s wrong on our end.

no just followed the guide.
i mucked up, so downloded 3010,run normal updater,pssetup did not work even after doing the set the permission bits, but game run fine, after going to planeshift.cfg and putting in my settings

PS Try to remember the people working on this. do it in there FREE time for FREE, so be a littal less frustrated when they seam to be tacking there time, they are doing there best for you.

Thanks for your info. I\'ll try fiddling with the settings. Did you change these in game, or by manually going into certain files? I can get in game, but my visuals and controls are messed up and it crashes if I try to loot any killed creature.
I\'m not downplaying the creators, or anyone who is putting in the time to fix things and build the mac client. I don\'t have the skills to work with code, so I\'m truly grateful. I can wait as long as it needs to take. I was just wondering what was going on. :)

yes in Planeshift,cfg. did settings by hand with TexEdit .
i found a few keybord controls do not work in options to, but this is same for PC, as i was playing game on my sons PC laptop, before the Mac update . :)

Well, I took tuxedo\'s advice and updated my Mac OS to 10.4.2 from 10.3.9 and at least I have gotten to where i can upload a character.
Funny thing is when I tried to use one of my original names it said that the last name was taken and would not let me use it. Actually it once let me use one of my last names with a different first name and I ended up in Ojaveda and crashed when I first looted a rat. It has done the crash there every time i have tried it.
Another character got loaded into hydlaa itself and even made it into where the rats are and I was able to loot rats. I chose to leave by choice.
Most recently I was trying to load a character and got the message that GM was shutting PS down.
May not be a ghost anymore.
Actually had to use ChaOS\'s PSClientCMD.jar after using the regular updater to update the DL 0.3.010. pssetup crashed on me but I used PSClientCMDlist.txt to get around it. psclient also crashed on me, the ChaOS\'s method worked well.

Most of these issues (spawning in Ojaveda, crashes from rat looting) are either known (the latter example above) or intended (the former example above). As for issues running psclient, I\'ll talk to dfryer. Hopefully they too will be cleared up with a new build.
