Title: The Quest for the Crystal
Post by: Wormtail_ on October 19, 2002, 02:59:23 am
This is the quest thread for the Crystal Quest. Mainly IC posts shall be posted here. Do your best to keep OOC to a minimum, here, too. Anyways, the quest shall begin with the damaging of the Crystal. And can someone tell me how to spell Yakilum, or however it\'s spelled? Remember that all posts without OOC will be considered IC posts.

Note: No offence to anyone mentioned in the story, we just need to use the people to continue the story. However, if you\'d like, I can change the names of NPCs if anyone in the story is mentioned if they\'d like.

One day on the surface, a group of wizards gathered. They had an evil intent, so evil in fact, that not even the most foul-hearted Orc could match up to them. They were members of the Dark Mages cult. Their intent: Destroy the Crystal of Yakinum. They were mages of all kinds of magic, even that of the light. The light mage was really a dark mage without any learning of magic in disguise, so he could learn the way of the light(Much to his displeasure, as he was evil, after all.)

AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE \"CRYSTAL BUILDING\" THING:

A guard fell dead. His Kran comrade fell next to him, dead also. A shuffle of many pairs of feet were heard.
BOOM. BANG. CRASH. ETC.
The gate was destroyed completely. The wizards ran through the smoking debris. One of the mages stayed behind, casted an illusion, and hurried after his comrades.

AT THE CRYSTAL:

\"Alrighty then. On the count of three... you know what do to... One... Two... Three!\" said the Wizard of Darkness. A multitude of powerful indirect spells were casted simultaneously. A loud explosion took place, followed by smoke. The Wizards held their breath. Suddenly, some Crystal shards flew toward them. \"Darn... I thought we had it for sure there...\" said the Mage of Air(I think it\'s the Blue way, not sure). \"Ah well, lets just take these pieces and run, before the Council notices.\" The Wizards vanished.

THE WHOLE OF THE UNDERGROUND CITY:

The sky suddenly darkened. The air became cool. Day became evening... an enternal evening... unless some heroes saved Yakilum...

\"Lalala, such a nice day today. Of course, it\'s always nice... So nice it\'s boring. Might as well head to the tavern,\" said a young Lemur, walking towards the tavern of Kada\'El. This Lemur was named Rantan. He was relativily short for a Lemur, and had brown traveling robes. He also used a staff to aid himself in walking, due to long travels and physical weakness. As soon as he opened the door to the famous tavern, though, the sky turned dark. \"Eh? Darkness? Must be a storm, but it\'s cloudless,\" muttered Rantan, \"Oh well, might as well get myself a drink.\" Rantan entered the tavern and sat in a seat around the middle of the bar. He was beginning to ask for a good ale and a meal, but the door was suddenly swun wide open, and a Council messenger, it looked like from the white robes, magical field, and special staff, plus a yellow C on the middle of the robes, entered. The Council messenger was a Diaboli, the most noticable marking being the tail. The Diaboli strode across the room to the Kada\'El\'s tavern kitchen thing. Rantan looked on in interest, as he had never seen a person working for the Council all his lifetime. The kitchen door opened before the Diaboli got there, and Kada\'El, the famous tavern keeper, strode briskly from the kitchen to meet the messenger. They held a brief conversation, which ended with the Diaboli handing something over and walking towards the door. Kada\'El seemed to cast a spell, and a dozen copies of the thing were made. She saw Rantan, and attempting to smile at him, threw one of the messages at him, probably to see if he was a good catch. Rantan, who was staring, managed to come to his senses and caught the message. Kada\'El went back into went back to the kitchen. Rantan decided to read the scroll after Kada\'El went back into the tavern kitchen thing. The scroll read:

                    ATTENTION

The Crystal has been damaged. Blah blah blah...(to save time, that\'s just the unimportant stuff). The Council is now looking for people to defeat the freaks who pose a threat toward Ylakium and restore the Crystal. Recruits shall go to the Council HQ on the 7th floor. Recruits will be handsomely rewarded if they succeed.

Rantan stared, while pictures of heroic heroes formed in his mind. He decided to sign up immediately. Forgetting about his meal, he exited the tavern, which creatures were now entering, and headed for the 7th floor, barely noticing the cold and darkness for some reason. He also didn\'t notice the whisperings and scared looks that were on everybody\'s faces.

OOC Note: The tavern was originally full, but I\'m not that good at story telling, but doing my best to tell the story. Anyways, everybody else was drunk and didn\'t pay any attention to the Council messenger and Kada\'El, just to try to make up for not mentioning the drunk people. I will probably edit this whole post later, though...

- Walking down a busy street of inner Yliakum -

Tegdaen to Xolon : Excuse me stranger...

Excuse me....  Might you be on your way to the town hall?
I only ask because I have a copy of that very same notice you hold in your hand.
I am sorry, please let me introduce myself...
I am Tegdaen Silverblade, son of Telmaren, of the Stonebreaker clan.

Normally, I would not reply to such requests from our council, but alas, I find myself with nothing better to do after losing my job as instructor at the defense acadamy. Hopefully this quest can bring me glory and fame... or more importantly, riches.
Anyway, enough about my troubles, what might your name be?

-Looking up-

Xolon to Tegdaen (bit grumpy):

Hello stranger, Yes actually i am.
People know me as: Xolon the Hammerwielder, blacksmith of Yliakum.
I was busy smithing some armour a young man ask me to smith, when suddenly all the light disappeared. And without the light of the crystal i cant smith.

*sniffing disagreeing*

I saw some people walking around with these scrolls, so i ask one from an old men. Seeing all those brave, yet unexperience young warriors applying, I think its better for them to have an experience fighter on their side. Thats why i\'m applying.

And what else must i do? i cant smith without the light...

- Arriving at town hall -

Tegdaen:
Well met Xolon, the blacksmith.
It seems that we are both here out of boredom.
I wonder if that is such a good idea...

*Approaching the great door to the town hall, Tegdaen pulls out his notice to show to the gaurds on duty.
Before the scroll is halfway out of his coat pocket, a gaurd with slightly more decorated armour than the others, makes a signal. At this, two other gaurds open the doors and signal Tegdaen and Xolon inside.

Tegdaen walks abreast with Xolon, not wanting to look the weaker of the two, when entering a meeting of the council.

When no-one greets them, Xolon and Tegdaen go and sit down next to a fairly tall elf, wearing a green cloak.

The elf beside Tegdaen and Xolon turns towards them and smiles.  \"So, more applicants for this crystal business?  You two seem like you\'ll make good candidates for it.  Allow me to introduce myself, I am Aruneko Erebrandir.\"  He shakes hands and greets both of them.  \"I\'ve been looking for a job to do, and this thing sounds perfect.  Why are you two volunteering?\"
Title:

OOC: Oy, you three are already at the Council meeting. Guess I\'d better hurry up. :p

IC:
After practically jumping up to the Town Hall, Rantal ran breathlessly past the guards, who immediately let him pass, probably out of fear they\'ll be knocked down. Rantal jumped into the first empty seat he could find, and asked, \"Has the meeting started yet? What\'d I miss? Why are only three other people applying? Are we all going to die?!?!\" The head Council member was taken aback at the sudden appearence of the Lemuri, but quickly recovered and said, \" No, the meeting has not started yet, you did not miss anything, everybody else is probably scared, and no, we are not going to die, although we might face major problems with the crops. Anyways, lets start the meeting. As we all know, the Crystal has been damaged and we are looking for people to avenge it\'s damage, and get the Crystal shards back to us. You four don\'t have to repair the Crystal, leave that to us. You should get started as quickly as possible, and we will supply you with enough gold to buy food and water supplies throughout the trip for about two years. You will be paid in full after you complete the quest. The payment is going to be \'big\', too. Any questions? One more thing: What is your name? These three over here are: Aruneko, the elf, Xolon, the Hammerwielder, and Tagdaen, the Stonebreaker.\" The head Council member(who was, by the way, a Lemuri) folded his hands and waited for any questions, and the response from Rantal. Rantal introduced himself to the others, and waited, impatient for the journey to start.

OOC: The meeting has started. Ask what you want to, and don\'t forget to have your character taken aback at the sudden appearence of Rantal. :p
Title:
Post by: Silverblade on October 19, 2002, 05:43:26 pm
Tegdaen: uh, yes, just one quick question before we head off. How much exactly will we be paid? I was a bit worried when Aruneko over here asked why we had \"Volunteered\"

*Tegdaen peers at this Rantal character out of the corner of his eyes. \"What in the lake is that weak creature doing here?\" He thinks to himself.
Title:
Post by: Wormtail_ on October 19, 2002, 05:57:31 pm
The High Head Council Member of the Underground City replied, \"You will be paid around ten-thousand circles each, plus your own private quarters in a castle overlooking \'many things.\' You will also be made famous, and your \'rank\' will become \'hero.\' You will also be given specialty items, depending on what you are. Any more questions?\" Rantal thought to himself, Ooooh, rich riches! I\'m goint to want to complete this quest. Rantal began to shiver uncontrollably with excitement, and accidently casted healing on himself. \"Oops,\" muttered Rantal. \"Shouldn\'t be doing that right now...\"

OOC: Alrighty then, we\'re off to a good start! We just need the other two to reply and have conversations, and then we\'ll head off!
Title:
Post by: Silverblade on October 19, 2002, 06:06:55 pm
Tegdaen: OK, I\'m all ready. I dont see any point in sitting around here chatting all day.

*Tegdaen gets up

I\'ll meet you all outside

*Walks out the door
Title:
Post by: Xolon on October 19, 2002, 07:47:52 pm
*Xolon jumped up by the fast and loud entrance of Rantal. Looks at the Lemur and shakes his head...

Xolon:
tss...didnt knew there were people who are even in a hurry when theres no light.

Anyway, Mr. Councillor. I got some questions for you. You were talking about repairing the crystal. So what exactly are you asking us to bring back to Yliakum?
And where can we possibly find it?, What monsters can we expect and are there any friendlies on our way out of Yliakum?
And...do we need to take Rantal with us? or can he be a bit more relaxed on our trip? (*looking at the Lemur)
Title:
Post by: Wormtail_ on October 19, 2002, 11:21:37 pm
The Head Council Member replied, \"You simply need to bring back the Crystal parts. However, some stones with a glow around them would be handy, though... I am pretty sure you will be able to find it in the enemies headquarters, though where that is noone knows. Monsters and creatures you can expect to meet along the way are creatures native to underground worlds, like rock creatures. In forests, expect friendly elves and wood creatures, like moss boars, boars which have moss all over their body. You should expect creatures of all sizes and powers, to. There should be plenty of friendly people around, mostly old hermits with a whole lot of knowledge. And yes, you will have to take Rantal with you, although I think he can use a bit more self-control. Help is greatly valued during times of trouble. By the look of him, he is a mage, and so far I don\'t see any other mages in your party. He will be very valuable to you.\" Rantal said, \"Yeah, I also have archery skills! There\'s no reason at all to leave me behind!\"
Title:

Aruneko waited patiently for all the questions to be answered.  He then raised his hand and asked, \"When do we leave?\"
Title:
Post by: Wormtail_ on October 20, 2002, 01:35:40 am
The Head Council Member replied, \"When you are ready, of course. I see that this meeting is to be adjourned, unless there are any last minute questions, of course? The earlier you leave, the better for all of us.\" The HCM surveyed everybody gravely with the wise look that old people usually have. \"Oh yes, and you\'ll be needing this...\" the Head Council Member said, and handed everybody a small sack of tria. \"Your provision money, and somebody should kindly give... Tegdaen, I think his name was? his money.\" said the HCM. Rantal said, \"Well, might as well get going, then,\" and joined Tegdaen outside the door, while making sure he was well prepared. He took out his staff and used it as a walking stick.

OOC: Well, I\'m assuming that everybody is ready to leave now. I\'ll wait to make sure. So far, Rantal and Tegdaen are outside the door. HCM is Head Council Member, by the way, HCM is easier to type. The HCM gave the gold to Xolon to deliver to Tegdaen, as they\'re both Dwarves.
Title:

\"Ok, i got no further questions for you HCM\".

* Xolon stood up, took his gear and the bag of gold for Tegdaen. Shakes the HCM hand firmly and goes to the others waiting outside.

You will hear from us soon..

*Xolon shakes the HCM hand firmly and goes to the others waiting outside.

Friends...I\'m ready to go!

*Raising his axe into the air.

Dont get all glorious on us yet... we still dont know where to start

And the HCM forgot to give us our gold
Title:
Post by: Wormtail_ on October 20, 2002, 04:31:12 pm
OOC: Xolon has Tegdaen\'s gold. Will he give t to him?

IC: The HCM walked outside and said, \"You must start in the Bronze Doors. Go through the Stone Labryniths. Once you get out of there, follow this map. We recently obtained this map from one of the evil people. You\'ll be starting out in a forest, gradually into plains, desert, then apparently, more plains. You will just start in the Bronze Doors. We have arranged transportation for you \" The HCM motioned, and four pterosaur appeared. \"These will only transport yo to the Bronze Doors. Now I will drag your Elf friend over here, and your journey can begin!\"
Rantal climbed on his pterosaur and got ready to take off. He made sure to have his bag of 150 tria, got his staff positioned, and looked around to see when Aruneko would come out.
Title:
Post by: Xolon on October 20, 2002, 05:14:09 pm
I hope this Pterosaur can carry me and my stuff. But we will soon find that out.

*Xolon is stuggling to get on, but after a few times his on the back of the Pterosaur.

Never really liked flying.. Anyway Tegdaen, i believe you forgot your gold. I got it right here

*Xolon hands over a bag of gold.
Title:

Aruneko, after taking an extremely long time to gather his things, climbs onto the pterosaur, a little uncomfortable, as it is his first time riding.

\"By the way, Rantal, what\'s the name of this thing we\'re on?\"
Title:
Post by: Silverblade on October 21, 2002, 06:12:20 am
*Tegdaen looks up from counting his gold, realizing that everyone is waiting for him.
He climbs clumsily on to his Pteresaur and says,
Well, I guess we go to the bronze doors...
*Tegdaen launches into the air, clearly not knowing how to control his beast.

Rantal said to Arumeko, \"I believe these things are called pteresaurs, I\'m not too sure... Well, since everyone is on their pteresaur, lets get going then!\" Rantal\'s pteresaur flew into the \'air\' and to the Bronze Doors.

OOC: We are hading to the Bronze Doors, and into the Stone Labryniths. We should be facing one of our first battles soon...
Title:

IC:  Aruneko watched as Rantal flew up towards the Bronze Gates.  He quickly began his flight as the pteresaur he rode upon rose into the sky, following close behind on Rantal.  He enjoyed the feeling of flying; he had never tried it before.  Then he looked down.  He began to feel a little queasy.

*Xolon order the Pterosaur to land on the ground before the Bronze Doors...

Hey guys!
I here are the doors, lets find out how to open them. Cause i cant open those doors alone.

*Xolon steps of the Pterosaur, collects his gear and walks up to the doors, giving them a good inspection.
Title:

Aruneko directed his pteresaur to the ground next to Xolon\'s.  He hopped off and then gathered his belongings.

He walked up to the great Bronze Doors, and stood beside Xolon inspecting it.
Title:

OOC: I\'m late, am I not? Oh well...

IC: Rantal guided his creature to the ground and hopped out of it. He then walked over to where Xolon and Aruneko were standing while noticing some blood, scraps of metal, and other things of the like scattered on the ground near the Bronze Doors. Rantal said uneasily, \"I have a bad feeling about this... Lets wait for Tegdaen and then go inside. Lets also get into battle position so we\'re prepared for anything inside...\" Rantal took his staff and held it with both hands in an easily movable position, put his bow nearer to his hands, and readjusted his quiver of arrows, taking it out of his robe and setting it on his back. The quiver of arrows was in his robes because he didn\'t want anyone simply reaching in and stealing an arrow when he wasn\'t looking.

Aruneko looked behind him and noticed the remains of a battle Rantal had mentioned.  He, too, took out his weapons and prepared himself for some kind of battle.  He looked up into the sky as he saw Tegdaen flying towards the landing spot.
Title:

Xolon kneeled next to the remainings of what looked have been a fight. \"Blood is still fresh\", Xolon said while getting himself ready for a possible fight. \"Rantal is right, we can expect our first battle on the other side of these doors, so its better to be ready for the worst.\"

Xolon collects his last equipment from the pterosaur and sents it away, back to Yliakum.

Look! Over there!
The rest of the party look up at Tegdaen, hovering in the air on his Pterasaur.

Tegdaen was calling out, and pointing to a spot hidden from the view of the rest of the party.

There seemed to be some sort of action going on behind a thick gathering of trees, and whatever it was, Tegdaens voice sounded urgent.
Title:
Post by: Aruneko on October 28, 2002, 01:27:17 pm
Aruneko quickly took out his weapons and walked silently over to the area Tegdaen had pointed to.  He brushed by a few trees and peeked out of the foilage at a clearing.   He then motioned for the rest of the group to come look.
Title:

Rantal followed Aruneko towards the trees after sending his pterosaur off. He wondered if they were going to see the creatures who left off all that \'stuff.\' In any case, he decided to walk next to Aruneko and see what Tegdaen was talking about.

OOC: Hmm... I thought we were going to have a battle inside the Stone Labryniths.... Or is this something else? I\'m assuming that this our characters are watching a battle...

OOC: Right then.... We\'ll have to \'go with the flow\'... We\'ll have the two new members battle the thugs in the forest, and the orginal members will join in. Details in OOC thread. ALWAYS check the OOC thread wheneveer it\'s updated so we won\'t get confused, and I won\'t have to make messages in the quest thread. I have my ways of checking if one has been checking the OOC thread...

The scene which the party was watching was that of a battle.  They watched as six rough looking men had cornered two desperate-looking, but obviously bold and experienced fighters.  One of them, wearing large bright armor, slashed out at their opressors and struck him on  the arm, but one of the six retaliated and landed a blow on the other traveler.  Soon they had all plunged into battle and the party was left to choose who to aid, or if aid was to be given.  The group of two were losing, and a look of greedy triumph was upon the features of the ruffians.

*\"What are those fools waiting for\" Tegdaen muttered to himself. He was still circling above the party on his Pterasaur, watching the group hide behind the trees.
\"If they\'re going to stand there and watch these people be killed, im going to have to save them myself.

*Tegdaen flew over towards the battle, waited, then when the time was right, he swooped down, with great control. It was as though Tegdaen had been flying all his life. His plan was to swoop down to ground level and take one big swing at the Largest thug with his double bladed axe.

*Closer and closer he got, then just at the last minute, when Tegdaens axe was drawn right back, the enemy saw him coming from the corner of his eye. The great thug spun around, pulled out a small throwing knife, and speared Tegdaen\'s Pteresaur right in the eye.

*The pteresaur plunged into the dirt, and Tegdaen was thrown forward. He hit the ground on his side, but instantly rolled up to his feet.

*What would he do now? He had just thrown himself into the snake pit.

Xolon saw Tegdaen faling after the pterosaur was hit and didnt wait any longer. With his axe \'slaugther-ready\'  he runned as fast as he could (ooc: wich isnt that fast) to Tegdaen to help him in the battle.

Keldorn was being surrounded by two thugs, one of them had allready plunged his dagger into Keldorn\'s left knee forcing him to rest his knee on the ground and out of balance. \"We should have killed you with the rest of your worthless party\" one of the thugs said.
Just as he was ready to deal a final blow to Keldorn with his axe they heared the pterosaur of Tagdaen fall to the ground. When they turned to see what all this commotion was about Keldorn saw his chance and took it, he threw himself on the nearest thug with all the strenght he had left. As Keldorn lay on top of the thug he quickly grabbed a big stone that was lying near them and smashed the thugs skull in.
The second thug had now drawn his sword and was advancing to Keldorn.

OOC:  Ah, I said it was an example, but oh well.

Aruneko saw that the fighting had begun, and drew his arrows and fired one from the foilage.  It struck a thug in the shoulder and he fell.  The five thugs saw they were surrounded now, and the fact that they were battling for their lives only made them fight more madly.  Aruneko quickly took another arrow from his quiver and set it upon his bowstring.  He fired and missed, and grabbed a third.

Rantal watched as the six thugs attacked the knight and ranger. At least he assumed they were, by the looks of what they were. Suddenly, Tegdaen swooped down, apparently trying to attack from the air, except for the fact that the plan failed. Xolon rushed in after him. Aruneko began firing arrows. Rantal decided he didn\'t want to leave all the fun to everybody else. Quickly, he muttered a spell, and from the tip of his staff, a lightning bolt sped out and hit the thug advancing on the knight. The thug fell, temporarily stunned, and Rantal began to cast another spell. The four thugs continued fighting, now with the power of rage on their side.

Aruneko took his 3rd arrow and aimed it at the nearest thug.  Another ruffian saw that his fellow bandit was about to meet his end, so the ruffian yelled and chucked his dagger in Aruneko\'s direction.  Aruneko instinctively jumped out of the way and released his arrow but his shot was off and thudded into the ground.  Aruneko had gotten a small scratch from the knife.  The two thugs near Aruneko charged towards him.

With the battle becoming more even, Tegdaen got the same adrenaline rush that he always got before a fight at the academy.

With this extra boost, Tegdaen charged at the nearest thug (One of the ones charging at Aruneko). He drew back his axe as he ran, then swung it down over his head, like he was chopping a log.

The thug deflected the blow with his sword, but he still lost a large chunk of meat from his right shoulder.

Whirling around, and swinging his axe from the side, in one motion, Tegdaen dug his axe into the back of the thugs left thigh.

The Thug collapsed with a thud, belowing in pain.

/ooc: should be 3 thugs down, and one stunned, One coming for Keldorn, and one coming for Aruneko.

Keldorn quickly turned his head to the direction where the spell had been fired from. He saw a Lemur who from the gestures he was making was about to cast another spell. He also noticed a dwarf who had just dug his axe deep into one of the thugs.
The Gods are definitely in favor of us today he thought to himself as he picked up his two handed sword which had fallen to the ground. Leaning on this sword he tried to raise himself up on his feet. Which was not easy to do with the deep wound from the dagger in his left knee.
He noticed the thug who was stunned was slowly starting to regain his consciousness. Keldorn was barely able to stand. Now if those Gods could just make me able to walk properly so i can defend myself he added to his thought. With huge pains he started moving towards the thug who was slowly regaining his consciousness.

Xolon arrived at the battle field and saw Keldorn strumpling towards one of the thugs. He runned to him and stayed close as a bodyguard. \"Let me help you, my friend\", Xolon said holding Keldorn..

\"Lets finnish those thugs! and see what they were after..\" Xolon shouted to the group.

Aruneko quickly dropped his bow and drew his blade to defend himself from the oncoming ruffian.  The thug charged, sword drawn, and met his blade with Aruneko\'s.  They lashed out at eachother and parried the blows for a few moments and then they locked their blades and struggled for the upper hand.  The thug kicked Aruneko in the stomach, sending him sprawling onto the dirt.

Rantal saw Xolon beginning to help the knight. Rantal also saw another thug rushing towards Aruneko. Tegdaen happened to slice another thug in the shoulder, but the thug only continued on going. The thug and Aruneko fought with swords, and then the thug kicked Aruneko in the stomach, and he went spraling on the dirt. The thug rushed on, preparing to kill Aruneko with his sword. Rantal decided to intervene and directed his spell at that thug. Out of his staff appeared several tiny golden stars, and they flew towards the thug. Most of them hit him, and he was knocked over sideways, dropping his sword. The sword flew next to Aruneko, and Rantal charged with his staff. The thug, who had a severely injured shoulder and plenty of energy lost, still managed to deflect the blow with a hidden knife. Rantal continued fighting him with his staff, and both of them struggled to gain the upper hand. Rantal thought I hope Aruneko will help me with this thug.... He\'s still got to repay that debt I gave him after saving him from that thug...

Aruneko watched as little stars plummeted into his enemy, causing him to drop his sword.  Soon Rantal and the thug began battling feircely, until a sword suddenly protruded from the ruffian\'s chest, and he fell to the ground.  Aruneko withdrew the sword from the corpse and flashed a smile at Rantal, then rejoined the fray.

The last standing thug was fast approaching Keldorn and Xolon, licking his lips in anticipation of an easy kill. However as he looked around, he saw no friends... only three other adventurers coming at him.

Startled by the sudden turn in the battle, the Thug began to run. He was no Scholar, but the thug knew that 1 vs. 5 were not good odds.

Tegdaen ran after the thug, but his small legs did not carry him very far before he gave up.
Walking back to the rest of his party, Tegdaen said to the injured stranger,

Didn\'t I see another armoured man with you?

With his sword and Xolon as the only thing keeping him up Keldorn looked to the dwarf who was now almost as tall as Keldorn since he wasn\'t able to lift himself up to his full length.
You must mean Dakotah. I ... don\'t know. One minute we were battling these thugs and the next .... i lost sight of him. I am a failure, first i let the Corst family who we swore an oath to protect to be murdered by those thugs and now ..... now i lose my most dearest friend. I am not worthy to be called a Knight.  With this he closed his eyes and was obviously experiencing great pains from the wound in his knee which was starting to bleed even more.

ooc: if dakotah shows up he can still join in but i guess we will have to find him again (or he finds us). if he doesn\'t, well then we just lost him.

Aruneko saw that the last thug had fled, and went to see who he had just helped rescue.  He listened to the stranger\'s explanation of Dakotah\'s disappearance.  Then, noticing Keldorn\'s wounds, he said, \"Man, you have some serious injuries there.  You can finish introducing yourself once you get some help.\"  Without waiting for a response he ran back to get his pack of supplies at the Bronze Doors.

Rantal watched the last thug flee. He tried to catch up to him, but it was pointless to chase a person about 25 meters away and still running in darkness. He didn\'t like the fact that this last thug was still alive. He could get help, and that was something they surely didn\'t want to do. Rantal walked over to the knight. He saw Aruneko running back, probably to get healing stuff. He shook his head. Didn\'t anyone know he was a mage? Rantal muttered a spell, and soft blue wind danced around the knight, and the knight\'s knee was partially healed. All that remained was a small trickling of blood going on and a rather large bruise. Rantal asked, \"Greetings, sir knight. I am the mage Rantal. Who might you be?\" Rantal said to everyone else, \"Well, grab some loot! We did win the battle, after all.\"

OOC: There are several daggers and a few swords on the ground. It\'s all for the taking!

Keldorn tried stretching his leg. Though he did feel some minor pain most of his wound was healed. Keldorn sighed as he raised himself up. He looked at Rantal and said; \"I am known as Keldorn, Protector Knight in the Knights of Aramur order. And may I thank you for coming to my aid for if you had not I would surely not have been standing here.\"
Keldorn looked around and then focused back on Rantal again; \"I have heard about the town of Yliakum sending out a party to investigate the matter with the Crystal. Might I be right to assume that that party would be you?\"

Rantal replied, \"Ah yes, that would be us. We were just getting started when we saw that you were being attacked by thugs. Since you were obviously losing, and thugs are thugs, we decided to help you against them. Actually, we were forced to when Tegdaen,\" Rantal motioned to him, \"just flew down and started attacking. Would you like to help us for the sake of the Blue Sun, Sir Keldorn?\" Rantal was shifting himself uncomfortably, waiting for the reply, but eager to get the loot. He really needed a good melee weapon right about now.

Tegdaen preffered to stay out of idle chit-chat, and so started to rummage through the fallen thug\'s packs.

He tossed out a few weapons and useless items, but kept nothing for himself.

He then went and cleaned his axe, gathered his things and was ready for departure.
While standing around waiting for the others, he spotted a pair of leather gloves. He went and grabbed them and tried them on. They didn t fit because of the size of the thug they came from.
Perhaps I can sell them later.
Tegdaen added the gloves to his pack.
He walked with a slight limp from his fall from the Pteresaur, but it was nothing to worry about.

\"You are proposing that I assist you in this quest? I would not dare to say nay to this. It is my duty as a Knight to help those that ask it of me. Maybe this way I can redeem my previous failure.\" With this Keldorn smiled and said just two words to Rantal; \"Thank you.\"

Aruneko had returned in time to hear Keldorn\'s final response.  \"Well then, welcome to our little expedition!  I am sure that you will be of great help to us.\"  After chatting a while with the newest member of the group, he went over to the thugs\' bodies and picked up a few sacks he saw lying around.  He grinned as he heard the jingle of coins as he picked it up.

Rantal said, \"Well, welcome to our party, sir Keldorn! We could use plenty of help to repair the Crystal!\" Finishing his welcome with a bow, Rantal started looking for some loot he could steal from the thugs. He spotted a small rusty dagger, which he took, and a leather helmet, which he also took. Fitting the dagger into his belt and putting his helmet on, he twirled his staff, missed catching it, and bent down to pick it up. He then began searaching the other thug\'s bodies.

Keldorn also walked over to some of the bodies, but after searching them he found nothing that could be of use to him. Though he did wonder why he didn\'t find any money on them. He was sure of it that the thugs had stolen some from him before he was attacked by them.
Then he heard rinkling of coins and looked to his side. Aruneko was playing with his new found treasure, a few bags of tria and stones.
Let him have it, Keldorn thought to himself. He obviously needs it more then me.
Keldorn walked away from the bodies. He didn\'t like to be around so much death.

Rantal said, \"I agree with Tegdaen. Lets split up the tria and stones. Twenty tria each, as he said earlier, and five stones, too. Once each of us gets our share, lets head for the doors and open them.\" Rantal went to Aruneko, politely grabbed 20 tria and five stones, put the tria in his money bag and stones in a hidden pocket, and headed towards the Bronze Doors.

Rantal suddenly turned into a powerful old mage, capabable of doing anything. He casted a spell, and with a BANG, King Link III suddenly dissappeared. Aruneko recieved all his arrows, and then everybody\'s mind went blank. After that, nobody had any memory of King Link III and anything about cheese or pie. Rantal turned back into his own young mage self.

Rantal walked to the Bronze Doors. He reached them, and turned around to ask the others for help open them.

The unnatural near silence in the stone cavern set Fiere\'s nerves on edge. The rhythm of the water falling from the stone ceiling was a grating disparity in the lifeless space. She peered keenly through the darkness from her uncomfortable perch on a narrow ledge near the southern entrance to the cavern. The stench of aberrant majicks still permeated the dank air. Nothing moved save the endless condensation of the water and the passage of time.
She crept forward looking for some visible sign of whoever had left the strange scent of foreign incantations in the rocky chamber. Nothing caught her cautious gaze but the feeling that something had left an indelible mark on the very stone walls persisted. She dropped from the shelf and moved out into the open.

Two weeks had passed. Two weeks since the crystal fell dark and the city grew cold. She hadn?t stolen a handful of tria?s in as much time, there was no one risking the streets of Yliakum after the attack. No one knew what had happened to the city?s lifeblood but rumors were rampant. More than once she had heard accusations against her own kind, the Diaboli were not a trusted people. The truth was still hidden.

She pondered the recent cataclysmic events as she continued to search for some sign left by the intruders. Whatever creatures had inhabited this section of the tunnels outside of Yliakum had fled further out into the labyrinth. Fiere stopped in the center of the cavern by a large stalagmite. She looked carefully at the rock but there was no sign of damage.

Sighing in disgust she turned back towards the city. Perhaps The Princess Aelya would have some knowledge to impart. It was about time she apologized to her anyway. Fiere knew better than to stay too long out of the Princess?s good graces. Still discontent with her lack of findings she walked swiftly to the entrance leading back the bronze doors of Yliakum.

Pheonix was resting in a place where he was most comfortable in a tree with his back against the tree trunk legs hanging on either side of the branch...His bow easily within reach and his quiver as always on his hip.
Adjusting his sword a bit for comfort he began wondering about the darkness. What coudlve happened to the crystal
He thought grimly.
His ears tiwtched involuntarily as he picked up on the sound of flapping wings in the distance.
People in this area was a rare sight as not many people ventured outside the great bronze doors and the was nothing of interest in the imediate area.
Quickly he gathered his bow and leapt to the gournd landing softly with almost no noise, although he was disapointed in himself for rustling a few leave...sloppy  He muttered softly.
He ran swiftly and silently toward the sound of the flapping wings.

Suddenly the quiet was disruppted by the sound of metal on metal.  He began grinning as he ran toward the noise.

He was now in eyeshot of the great doors though not out of the woodline, in a small clearing he observed the fighting. A scraggly looking bunch surrounding two people who appeared to be knights.
He climbed a tree quickly and began looking for the source of the flapping sounds he heard earlier.

He watched as one of the great creatures dove from the sky toward the the fighting......... the creature wa bearing a dwarf of all things, he sniffed audibly and continued watching the scene unfold before him.

He took note of the dwarves and the Elven archer and the Lemur mage whos power he could not judge as he was not that powerful in magic but he could sense the abillity within him as he could in the afforementioned archer.

He watched as one of the knights ran off in utter cowardice he did not like cowards.

He also saw the part quickly dispatch of the brigands with the exception of one who ran , being chased by a dwarf.

He took up the bringand in his own as the dwarf gave up after a short distance. He knocked an arrow in his bowstring and let it fly, the arrow flew between tree branches and trunks only to land in the center of the thugs neck needless to say the man collapsed dying quickly.

Noticing the adventurers dividing up loot her jumped from his tree and ran to where the mand dead body lay rumaging through hs pockets turned up lots of junk but the only thing that he found that would be of use to him was 3 throwing knives tucked carefully up the mans sleeves these he put in his belt.

He ran quickly back to the tree he had been in before to observe the men, now they appeared to be heading toward the great doors.

Better follow them to keep them alive a knight an archer and a mage arent much for combating hordes of monsters, besides maybe I will figure out how to turn the light of the crystal back on...not that the dark bothers me   he thought purposely ignoring the dwarves whom he considered all but worthless.

As they headed toward the door he waited sitting comortably in his tree though he was going to make sure the fools didnt get themselves killed it didnt mean that they had to know he was there...... at least not yet

Aruneko was getting finished with his after-battle chores.  He gathered up his pack and gathered any arrows that could be useful.  He found 2, both arrows he had missed with.

Tegdaen looked around, he saw Aruneko, Keldorn, Xolon and Rantal.

Well, everyone seems to be ready. Now how do we open these bloody great doors?

Tegdaen turned around and began inspecting the doors, pretending to know what to look for.

Rantal, why don\'t you wave that stick of your\'s and see if it does anything.

Rantal looked around and saw everybody near him. Tegdaen looked around the doors, seemingly looking for something, yet not finding it. He then asked Rantal, \"Rantal, why don\'t you wave that stick of your\'s and see if it does anything.\" Rantal said, \"I suppose doing that is as good as doing anything else...\" Rantal then put the head of his staff on the Bronze Doors. Suddenly, two bronze doorknobs appeared on the middle of the Doors in a flash of white light, causing Rantal to drop his staff in surprise. He picked his staff up, tried to open the doors, failed, and asked everybody else,\"Who wants to open the Doors?\"

Her attention was suddenly drawn away from the city entrance. Something had followed her from the caverns.

He began idly fingering the hilt of his belt knife,
watching and waiting.

An otherworldly snarl ripped through her concentration, and something raced past her at impossible speed. She held her position as it slammed straight for the city.

Sighing in spite of himself pheonix prepared himself to move as the doors flew open with a thundering boom,

He brought himself to a squating position staring into what would have been near absolute darkness for a human,
he winced slightly as the Elf among the adventurers yelled into the darkness
He is going to bring everything in those tunnels right down on tops of them  He thought grimly.
Suddenly he noticed something rapidly moving on the other side of the bronze doors he couldnt tell what it was from this distance but if its coming from that side of the doors it cant be good, instantly he had his bow drawn taunt with an arrow ready to fly,

It would seem they might have to find out Im here sooner than I like  he thought before letting his arrow fly it hit, whatever it was somewhere in its lower body

Tegdaen, standing off to the side of the gates, saw shock on the faces of the other party members. He looked inside, and saw what they saw.

The creature, white in colour, ran on four legs, and was advancing quickly.

Suddenly, an arrow flew from behind tegdaen, and struck the creature in the back leg. Unaffected by the blow, the creature continued charging at full pace.

Without bothering to turn around to see where the arrow came from, Tegdaen unhitched his axe, ready for another battle.

The Doors slowly opened. Aruneko leaned in and shouted to see if anyone was there. Suddenly, a white four-legged something leaped at them. Out of nowhere, an arrow struck it\'s left leg, but the creature seemed unaffected. Rantal stared in surprise and shock, both at the sudden appearence of the arrow and the creature, then remembered what he was supposed to do. Rantal quickly took out his staff, casted a spell, and a white ray appeared from the top of his staff, hit the creature.... And only made it drop from it\'s big leap. Now the creature noticed Rantal, the person who attacked it. The creature leaped at Rantal. Rantal sighed, and took a defensive stance with his staff.

Keldorn had seen the creature make his escape towards the light, the creature had seem eager to escape those tunnels.
Though he didn\'t have much time to think about this, this creature was clearly on a mission to kill us.

Keldorn had drawn his crossbow and tried to get a good clean aim on the head of this creature, but was unable to because of the immense speed at which this creature was moving. He seemed to be as light as a feather and yet also as strong as a dragon.
When Keldorn saw the creature leaping at Rantal he couldn\'t wait any longer. He fired his crossbow and a bolt flew from the crossbow into the creature\'s neck. The creature fell, though it didn\'t seem to be any weaker. Well, atleast he is out of balance, Keldorn thought.
Keldorn put his crossbow on his back and took his sword in his hands. Let\'s see how he likes some sharp steel in his flesh.
Keldorn started to advance towards the creature with his sword at the ready.

Fiere observed the spectacle unfolding before her. Her dark lips curved into a sly smile.

\"Foolish males\" she thought.\"They never do learn\"

She lunged forward from her hiding place in the shadows and headed straight for a stalactite adjacent to the beast.  She took two steps up the base of the stone and pushed off hard towards the snarling enemy with both sai raised high.  She slammed her weapons into the creature\'s back as it roared in indignation.  It whirled about trying to fling her from its backside as she dug in with her blades.

The foul smelling thing ran headlong into the cavern wall as Fiere lept aside just in time. She ducked into a roll but she was unable to slow her momentum in time to prevent herself from slamming into the rocky wall of the chamber.

Dazed and bruised she rose unsteadily to her feet. The creature smelled offensively unnatural even to her extraplaner senses. Whatever it was, it had been affected by the same force she felt further back in the labyrinth. She looked to her right where the men who had attracted the creature stood.

When she turned swiftly back to face the monster it seemed to have sunk into the wall. The arrow in its leg was sagging and its color had become mottled.

\"Its knocked itself out!\" she thought. She crept cautiously towards it across the cold floor. Fiere poked at the injured beast with her sai but it did not react. It seemed to sink into itself and its color had faded to an odd grayish brown. As she inspected the creature she failed to notice a portion of its now indisguishable leg had oozed around her ankle...

Rantal braced himself for impact, but none came. He slowly took his staff down, and saw Keldorn shoot the creature, and the creature dropped from it\'s leap, again. Now, Keldorn advanced on it, with blade at the ready. Aruneko reached it first, and seemed to have a tough time with it. Out of nowhere appeared a female Diaboli, who attacked and both, creature and stranger, somehow managed to get inside the Labryniths. Rantal decided to follow her, and saw that the creauture seemed to be dead. There was only one problem, though: a part of it with an arrow on it was wrapping itself around the Diaboli\'s leg, and the Diaboli didn\'t seem to notice. Rantal casted a spell, and out of his staff appeared... around seven stars that hit the cavern floor, doing nothing whatsoever. Cursing, Rantal threw his staff to the ground and took out his bow and arrow, stepping aside to let everyone else charge in. He notched the arrow to the bow, and prepared to let fly.

Pheonix watched as the adventurers began facing off with the creature, he already had another arrow ready but he did not fire as he thought they should be able to handle whatever it was now that it was wounded, why his arrow shot had even stopped it from jumping on the mage....even more fortuitous for his cause of remaining hidden was the fact that a diaboli appeared from within the tunnels and attacked the creatures back. He couldnt see where the crreature ran off to when the diaboli jumped on its back, but he noticed the adventurers running into the tunnel.....
He took this golden opportunity to run into the tunnel without letting the others see him.

Fyre cursed as he sprinted through the Stone Labyrinths. dammit, they\'re going to be halfway through the labyrinths with beards growing on their rotting corpses by the time you get to them, at this rate. the last time that the Bronze Doors had been opened had been a long time ago. who could it be this time? as the sounds of battle began to ring around him, Fyre skidded to a halt, and crept carefully into the shadows. He saw a party of adventurers just finish subduing a mimic slid into the shadows to watch. there was a dwarf, an elf, a ylian, a lemur, and a female diaboli standing near the mimic. there was also a faint elf-shaped shadow hiding in an alcove behind the group he\'s good Fyre admitted to himself but i\'ve seen better. suddenly, the mimic had finished playing dead and was slowly winding a strand around the diaboli\'s foot. Fyre slowly drew two blackened, reflection-stopping daggers and crouched in the shadows to watch the scene unfold. As soon as he got into position to be hidden another winged-figure ran through the great bronze doors, the person quickly scanned the room taking in the party, also noticing pheonix , the position he had chosen would serving the purpose of hiding him from the party, but it would not hide him well from someone entering through the dooors with an observative eye.

noticing the bow pointed his way by an elf who looked like he knew how to use it, Fyre cursed softly and rolled behind a stalagmite. the bow followed him the whole way, but as soon as the rock formation was between Fyre and the archer, he jumped straight up, flapping his wings as he reached the inky darkness in of the cavern celings. as the archer looked for his target, Fyre flew over head, and dropped silently behind. he slid up behind the archer, clamped a hand over his mouth, dragged him against a wall, and slid a dagger into place under the elf\'s chin all in under 3 seconds. \"what do you want from me, and why did you point the bow?\"

Gritting his teeth at being caught off guard, pheonix let his bow and arrow drop to the floor with a clatter,
Smiling a bit pheonix quipped
As far as what I was doing and why you had a bow pointed at you I was watching thier back........Kill me if you will.....Slitting my throat will dispose of me easily enough but I\'m sure my friends over there won\'t have any trouble making you as dead as me once they see you standing over my corpse....after all I think the noise that a bow makes when hitting the ground is enough to draw their attention away from a monster carcass for a moment don\'t you ? Pheonix said as he used the noise of his speach as a distraction to skillfully and silently draw his belt knife and put it against Fyre\'s  crotch
Besides my winged friend I\'m sure killing one elf isn\'t worth losing an appendage, before they come and end your life that is.....then again I don\'t see any reason we could\'t walk away from this unscathed.

Aruneko ran to the scene of the fighting within the tunnels, and watched in amazement as a slimy mass of white oozed up a female diaboli\'s leg.  The diaboli was the one who had come out of nowhere to lunge upon the... thing.

Aruneko saw his blade on the ground and swiftly picked it up.

Aruneko was at a loss of what to do.  He took the first action that came to his mind and neatly cut into the blob\'s pulsing ooze with his blade.

OOC: EDIT: I forgot Aruneko had gotten his blade stuck in the mimic earlier.

Fyre and Pheonix stood at a stalemate for several moments. fine then Fyre snapped his daggers away, slapped away Pheonix\'s knife and stepped back.
listen, it looks like we\'re both doing the same thing. watching that party. now if you can swear allegiance with the cause of good, i\'m willing to work with you in watching them and doing what\'s best Fyre holds out his hand. agreed?

Looking over Fyreblade slowly Pheonix took his hand
Agreed ...... but tread carefully betray my trust, however thin it may be with you and..........
Pheonix left his threat unfinished and bowed toward Fyreblade, while at the bottom of his bow he picked up his bow and the loose arrow. Putting the arrow in his quiver he turned his back on Fyreblade and walked slowly toward the party

Tegdaen, charged in after the rest of the party, as fast as his little legs could take him. When he reached them, everyone was standing around, ready to fight, but nobody seemed to know what to do.

The stranger that attacked the creature from behind seemed to be in trouble, but Tegdaen did\'nt know whether to help her or not.

Who are you, and what are you doing here? He yelled.

Rantal was about to release the arrow from his bow, but at the last second, he hesitated. He certainly didn\'t want to accidently hit someone who helped them. He decided to put his bow and arrow away, took out his staff, all while yelling, \"Hey! That creature; the one that\'s supposed to be dead; is wrapping itself around your leg, stranger!\" Rantal, oblivious to the second stranger, lunged foward with his staff.

FyreBlade, looked at pheonix, yeah, i trust you too he muttered. as pheonix was walking toward the party, a knife spun past him and slammed into the rock next to him. there was a note attached to the knife. don\' t tell them i\'m here. Fyre then slid back into the shadows, to watch and wait.

Fiere sucked in her breath as she felt a cold tendril work its way up her leg. She held as still as a statue.

Somone called out
\"Who are you, and what are you doing here?\"

Frustrated by her own foolish mistake and the stranger\'s ill timed question Fiere gritted her teeth.

\"None of that will matter if I\'m dead!\" she retorted.

Slowly she bent towards the creature and drew one of her throwing blades. She neatly sliced off the tentacle at its base and stepped back swiftly. She threw aside the remainder as she moved.

\"Anyone know how to detroy a mimic?\"

A knife flew past pheonix as he was walking toward the part with a not attached. He glanced at the note, after reading it he pulled out the knife and stuck it in his belf discarding the note in a crumpled ball.
Pheonix walking up behind the distracted party and folded his arms waiting to see what they were going to do. He took a carefull look over the shapely Dioboli.

Rantal managed to stop running towards the creature as the Diaboli managed  to cut off the tentacle, pick up and throw the tentacle, and move swiftly aside. She then asked, \"Anyone know how to destroy a mimic?\" Rantal kept a close eye on the mimic as he answered, \"I might have read about mimics while at the Acadamy of Magic... It says that to kill a mimic, you must somehow get it to eat something that will kill a living thing, I think. Or, you can just cut it into little pieces, too. And this mimic is still alive, too...\" Rantal stepped back as the mimic moved slowly foward. Rantal continued, \"Mimics also have rather large mouths. I\'ll try to get a spell into the mouth, if I can cast a spell. Lets see what happens to it when we give it unedible stuff to eat! Anyways, mimics might have brains, or something simliar to one. If we can locate the brain, we\'ll have no problem killing one. If it doesn\'t have a brain, well...\" Rantal aimed his staff at the creatures mouth and muttered something. Some golden stars flew out of his staff and into the mimic\'s mouth. \"Lets see what happens now...\" said Rantal, watching for any effects to take place.

Tegdaen watched as Rantal cast his spell. Teg, didnt know if it worked, because he didnt know how to tell if a mimic was dead or not. Hell, he had never even seen a mimic before.

Glancing around, he saw an elf watching from the back of the group. \"What in the bloody hells goin\' on here\" he thought to himself.

\"Chopping it up into little pieces, eh?\"
Aruneko grinned.
\"I think I could do that.\"

The elf took a deep slice into the mimic, but it seemed to have no effect.  He began trying to cut the blob apart, but with no success.  While attacking it the blade had become stuck in it and was soon fully absorbed.

Aruneko backed off.

The mimic was not showing a lot of damage from being shot in the mouth nor hit with Aruneko\'s blade.  The only observable reaction was that of its speed-  the white slime had slowed its movement gradually.

Seeing the elf of their party fail to chop the creature into pieces, Pheonix stepped to the front of the group forcefully moving past the dwarves, he drew an arrow chanting an incantation .....took aim and fired hitting it in what could pass as a mouth, Instantly the creature burst into flames, the stench from the creature was quite horrid.

Pheonix being exhausted from enchanting the arrow began leaning against his bow, wiating for the onslaught of questions that would surely come,
eyeiballing the Diaboli again he began thinking of some questions he might ask her.

as Fyre watched, the elf set his arrow on fire and shot it into the mimic. as the mimic flamed, Fyre nodded. good, he finally figured out one of the ways to kill a mimic. fire or acid. The fire soon stopped and the blackened mimic soon slumped to the floor. very slowly, small portions of it began to return to its original white color. apparently, none of the adventurers noticed, the elf being too tired and distracted with the diaboli, and the others being too distracted by the elf. damn, i was hoping i wouldn\'t have to do anything this must be an old mimic, to be so tough and smart. Fyre reached toward his belt and drew out a flask. He opened the top and looked inside at the sizzling corrosive liquid. Fyre nodded, then with a twirl of his fingers and another sign, he dispelled the enchantment on the flask. as it began to melt, Fyre  flipped the flask above the mimc in a slow, gentle, underhand throw. immediately, he flipped a shuriken straight into the flask, and moved away into a deeper pool of shadows to the right, cursing himself and hoping that he wasn\'t spotted. the throwing star caught the flask, causing it to burst and spilling acid all over the mimic, sizzling and melting it away. as Fyre settled deep into the shadows, he thought, there goes a perfectly good star, let\'s see what happens now

There was a small explosion over the blackened mimic, and a strange liquid poured down over the remains.

Everyone looked around to see where it came from. Xolon looked questioningly at Tegdaen.

I have no idea where that came from... but at the moment, I am not really concerned... as long as that thing is dead. He said to the whole party.

Now, I think some introductions are order? He directed at the diaboli and the Dermorian.

Fiere smiled as she felt the eyes of the archer on her lithe form.  She flashed him a mysterious look with a flip of her hair as she turned towards the winged man examining the remains of the mimic.

As she swept past the archer a scent of cinnamon and ginger drifted with her, with the faintest hint of a candle recently extinguished lingering behind her passage. She walked beside the klyros and leaned in towards his experiment.

\"Something rather unusual about this one yes?\" she pondered aloud. \"The ones who have damaged the crystal have left behind other signs of their vulgar passage, and I\'d say the mimic was affected as well. The cavern beyond this entrance reeks of their foul magicks. What do you see?\"

Rantal sighed when his spell had no apparent effect on the mimic. Usually, when spells entered people\'s mouths, they usually show some sign of effects. Rantal then watched Aruneko attempt to chop up the mimic, but only succeed in losing his sword. Then, a flaming arrow suddenly hit the mimic, severely damaging it, and burning it, too. Of course, there was the problem of the horrid stench coming out, but Rantal was tired of facing the same mimic for... well, a long time. Then, another thing came flying out, sprayed itself on the mimic, and then the mimic could be counted as dead. Rantal whirled around and spotted a Klyros and Demorian, the Elf leaning on his bow and Klyros hopping into the shadows very quickly, so Rantal wasn\'t too sure whether the Klyros was actually there or not. \"... And fire is another way you can kill mimics,\" Rantal said. Rantal decided to start questioning the Elf and Diaboli. \"Well then, may I ask who you two are and why you are here?\"

Keldorn had watched the battle unfold, and when he thought about it there was little else he could have done.
He didn\'t want to risk losing his sword after he saw what had happened to Aruneko\'s sword.

Keldorn looked at the strangers, a diaboli and an elf by the looks of them. He saw Tagdaen asking the diaboli a question. She ignored him and walked away. Then Rantal asked the same question. When it was still not answered Keldorn had enough of it. He walked to the diaboli till he was right behind her and said; \"If someone asks you a question the polite thing to do is give him an answer. To say nothing could be taken the wrong way, though of course i am sure your intentions are nothing quite so hostile .... am i correct?\"
Keldorn\'s eyes narrowed, something inside him told him that she couldn\'t be trusted. He hoped he was wrong.

Fiere turned slowly towards the Ylian and tilted her head to the side as she smiled into his eyes. She reached up and twirled her finger in a lock of his snow white hair.

\"No need to be so upset now.\" she cajoled \"My business is my own, I certainly haven\'t demanded an explaination of your presence here.\"

See the Ylian\'s face harden like the stone walls of the cavern Fiere spoke again,
\" Well then if your so curious to know I was observing the extended effects of the attack on the city. Its a good thing I wasn\'t making much progress or your party\'s grand entrance surely would have thrown me off.\" she looked into his eyes as she spoke, peering into his displeased countanance.

He somewhat reluctantly took her hand in his. His face became a bit more friendlier. \"My name is Keldorn and we are fellow adventurers. We are bound together on a quest to investigate the recent occurances(sp?) regarding to the crystal, which i am sure you are well aware of.\"

\"Now, we will most likely not succeed on our own, any help would be welcome.\" Keldorn tried to be as friendly as possible. He understood that the party needed more help. His personal feelings were of lesser importance right now.
\"M\'lady\" Keldorn nodded his head and turned away. If she wanted to join she could say so now. He glanced at the other stranger. \"That goes for you as well.\"

Suddenly a yell was heard from behind them, and they spun round just in time to see Aruneko\'s head disappear into the ground.  The party soon saw he had fallen into some kind of small hole, and it looked deep.  A few moments later a rumbling was heard far down the tunnel, and it sounded as if rocks had come tumbling down.  After a few moments the sounds died away.  No noises were heard from Aruneko.

as Fyre crouched in the shadows, the diaboli began to approach. damn, i have been sloppy today. spotted twice once by an elf and once by a diaboli, i must be getting old. maybe she hasn\'t seen me. please let her pass me by. pass me by. pass me by nevertheless, Fyre drew two switchblades, and hid them in his hands, leaving them closed. as the diaboli was about to reach him, she suddenly turned around and began talking to the ylian who had been calling to her several seconds ago. as the party began to introduce themselves, they all apparently forgot about the klyros crouching in the shadows and listening to their conversation. phaugh! a bunch of naive adventurers, trusting everyone they meet. i used to be like that, until... suddenly Fyre\'s dark musings were interupted by a sudden yell, as the first dermorian, not the one with the longbow, plunged into a hole in the ground. Fyre considered following, but it was not worth it. he would be revealed to too many people. as he held himself back, he whispered a good luck incantation to the dermorian. after hearing the diaboli state the party\'s intent, Fyre made his decision. I\'ll follow from the shadows, aiding and protecting them when i can. i\'ll only join when i have to. for if i do, i will have to work with them. and that leads to trust. trust leads to friendship. friendship leads to betrayal...

Rantal introduced himself. \"Greetings. I am the mage Rantal, and like Keldorn said, we are going to try to help the people of Ylikulam by attempting to save the Crystal.\" Rantal then faced the Demorian archer who was not Aruneko. Rantal asked, \"And who might you be? We still have to thank you for trying to kill the mimic, even though you didn\'t succeed.\" Suddenly, Aruneko yelled. Rantal turned around to face Aruneko, but the Elf was gone. In his place was a gaping hole. Rantal started towards it, but several rocks rolled down and blocked the way. Rantal sighed mournfully. \"Great, an archer who was helping us is lost...\" Rantal tried to move some of the rocks with his staff, to no avail. Sighing once more, Rantal remembered the Klyros that might have been his imagination. He began a series of useless arguments inside his head, and sat on a rock, recovering energy.

Fiere laughed lightly at the petite Lemur as he babbled to himself.
\"Poor thing\" she thought to herself \"He doesnt seem to know which way is up!\" She looked over to the diminutive mage as he sat and pondered their predicament.

Abruptly she turned back towards the remains of the mimic. She looked back at the lemur and scrunched up her delicate features as she tried to remember who she had been speaking too. There had been a klyros examining the remains, hadn\'t there?

Fiere quickly regathered her thoughts and turned her smile upon Pheonix once more.
\"Well I suppose if the lot of you have chosen to investigate this incident I\'ll tag along and offer my help.\"
Her lazy grin deepened as she gazed at the Demorian. \"I can tell you that the mages who attacked Yliakum have left a trail of their foul magicks, even that mimic was adversely affected. \"

Her featured clouded over again, somone amongst them had already begun to investigate just that, where had he gone?
Title:

Pheonix still being tired from his spell managed to keep himself from swaying, When the Lemur of the group addressed him stating

\"And who might you be? We still have to thank you for trying to kill the mimic, even though you didn\'t succeed.\"

Just as Pheonix opening his mouth to reply a yell drew his attention, in the area where the yell eminated there was a hole, as suddenly as the hole had formed large boulders fell on top of the hole blocking the way.

The small Lemur utily attempted to move the massive blockade. After a while he sat down and gave up.

The unamed dioboli laughd delicately the laughter was musical in nature and suprisingly pleasant.
She turned to examine the remains of the mimic, before turning back to him with a smile on her face, a warm smile that seemed to cloud his thoughts as much as the laughter and even the scent of her did......... Standing upright again Pheonix smiled back slightly.......he did not like not being in control of himself and something about this diaboli caused him to drop his guard quite a bit.

He slowly ran his fingers through his hair, and with great effort focused his thoughts, the elf of their party had just been lost, two dwarves, a Lemur mage, a Klyros somewhere out there in the darkness following.....he had unfinished business with that one, and a Swordsman... Looking over the party slowly purposely avoiding looking in the Diobolis direction he wondered if they even had a prayer of doing as they intended.

When a voice that was wonderous music to his ears said \"Well I suppose if the lot of you have chosen to investigate this incident I\'ll tag along and offer my help.\"
His thoughts turned back to her and his mind was clouded once more.

A few moments later he seemed to recall saying \"If she is with you then I am as well.\"

Shaking his head he sat on a rock and began sharpening his belt knife.

Tegdaen did not like the way this new dermorian looked at him and xolon. Must have some sort of quarrel with dwarves. Well if he has a quarrel with me, then I have a quarrell with him, Tegdaen thought to himself.

The diaboli was no better. Teg could tell that she would only be a distraction to the others... a distraction that we really dont need at the moment.

Tegdaen also did not like the way that all these people, these strangers could just walk up and be accepted into the party. This was a dangerous quest, not some joy ride.

As each of the newcommers looked in Tegdaens direction, he gave a nod. That was all the welcome they would get from a proud Silverblade.

Tegdaen was sliding his axe back into it\'s holder on his belt ready to go, when he heard Aruneko\'s cry. It was a pity. Tegdaen was really beggining to feel that he could trust that elf. Ah well, there was a job to be done and nothing was going to stop this party from doing it... Apart from maybe that diaboli...

Keldorn listened closely, but heard nothing. It seemed that they had lost their first companion.
Keldorn looked into the deep where Aruneko should be. He tried to see some movement, but it was too dark and deep to see anything.
He tried calling his name, but all he heard was the echo from his own voice.
\"Death has found this party at last, it always does.\" Keldorn sighed and turned away.

Rantal stood up from where he sat, coming to a decision that the Klyros wasn\'t there, and even if it was there, Rantal didn\'t know how it should effect him. Unless, of course, it threw that bottle of acid at the mimic. Looking around, he saw everybody introducing themselves, and Rantal listened as the two newcomers accepted the invitation to join their grouop. \"All right then, lets get going, we have a quest to do, and that does not mean just laying around, chatting idly!\" Rantal said, and with that, went to the dark corrider oppisite that of the Klyros Rantal didn\'t know was there, and walked foward.

GM Note: First time I\'ve used this, anyways, description of the area. This tunnel is a three-way bend, with a horizantal wall north of the Bronze Doors. It looks like a T in the tunnels. Anyways, there are plenty of rocks all over the place. Large ones and other walls are to the left, when facing the wall at the top of the T. To the left is where FyreBlade is hiding. TO the right, a pit with more rocks covering it is where Aruneko lies buried. That\'s where Rantal is heading. Everybody else, I\'m assuming, is at the place where the two lines of the T touch.

This is just what I\'m saying this part of the Labryniths looks like, not what I want it to look like in the real game of Planeshift. Well, actually, I couldn\'t think of another way to describe the area, anyways.

With Aruneko now gone, It was only Tegdaen, Xolon and Rantal who were there at the beggining when this quest was issued to them.

Tegdaen decided to inform the others on their aim:

For all you newcommers, I would like you to know that our aim here in the stone labrynths is none other than to get out. We were given a map that starts from the other side of the Labrynths. I ask you to not drag your feet, for I do not wish to spend any more time in here than we have to.

Noticing the others wondering off down a tunnel Pheonix sheathed his knife watching the diobli walk away with a certain grace that made him want to keep watching. Shaking his head he rose to follow her into the tunnel focusing his eyes on the group a little ahead of him....not that he was avoiding looking at the diaboli mind you.....all the same he thought he would avoind looking at her too long as she seemed to have and affect on him that might well cost him life if he was not caeful.
When Pheonix finally caught up with the group the dioboli was offering to scout ahead, while the others complained about light. Smirking a bit he thought about letting them know about his knowledge of an illumnation spell.....looking at the dwarves in the party he changed his mind, better to let the wee men stumble in the dark, as for himself why he could see perfectly fine in the dark.
Pheonix\'s ear twitched as he heard the very light sound of someone moving from the direction they came. He thought to himself the winged one is tallented, but I\'ve known better.

Pheonix began checking the string on his bow waiting for the others to decide what they were going to decide to do about the darkness that did not exist for him.

Rantal then turned to Fiere and siad, \"Well, you may scout ahead, if any danger lurks nearby, shout out and lure them here so we can finish them off easily. Don\'t look for me for anything, I don\'t think I\'m the leader of this group.\"

Turning to the two dwarves, Rantal said, \"I thought Dwarves could see perfectly well in the dark. But then again, one of you might be too old...\" Rantal couldn\'t help but grin at Xolon\'s white beard.

Turning to the party in general, Rantal said, \"Well, I can see well in the dark, as I\'m a Lemur, so that\'s why I didn\'t bother researching spells that give light. I didn\'t think that I would have much use for it, but now I regret not studying that spell.\"

Fyre slid off to the side and moved ahead of hte party, careful to stay out of the sight range of any that could see in the dark. as hte diaboli looked off into the darkness, Fyre threw a pebble as far off the side as he could. the diaboli\'s head shot toward the sound, showing the speed of her reflexes. Fiere\'s eyes flicked back and forth across the formations in the cavern. Something was moving in the cavern that had been a short while before. Fiere stopped in her tracks. Nothing was making a sound now but Fiere had been skilled as a thief and a hunter too long not to know when she was being followed.

She chided herself for her own foolishness once again. She hadn\'t properly taken account of the entire party before heading out and now she had just given away the fact that she knew she\'d been followed to her stalker.

She moved forward again, remaining in the open, and breathed deeply the damp air. The tunnels still did not smell right but even her sense of smell was not keen enough to detect the scent of whatever had tracked her.

Another noise drew her attention sharply into focus a few yards ahead of her. She stopped suddenly once again, and slowly looked upwards...

As Fiere dissapeared into the unkown ahead, Tegdaen was busy searching through his pack for the Map given to the party by the Head council member.

He pulled thing\'s out one at a time, looking for the map that was vital to their quest. As he pulled out a long, round musical instrument, he hid it under his shirt, so as to avoid questions from the others.

Finaly, he reached a scroll scrunched into a bottom corner of his pack.

As he unravelled it, the other party members that were nearby, gathered around to look at the map.

It clearly marked where the journey would start, on the other side of the labrynth\'s, and the land that stretched beyond. It presented a land that Tegdaen had never seen before, but in some way reminded him of lands that his ancestors spoke of.

As far as getting out of the stone labrynths though, It told of nothing. They were going to have to figure that out on their own.

and saw Fyre holding himself up in the shadows. the second she began looking up, he had begun cursing with language foul enough to make the most hardened warrior blush. when she looked straight at him, Fyre dropped straight down as if to attack her. as Fiere\'s quick reflexes dropped her out of the way with a roll, she came up and noticed that the klyros was gone.......again. there was a knife stuck in the ground next to her still quivering with a note attached. I am here to observe and aid your quest. Do not attempt to attack me or reveal my presence to the party. I mean no harm.....yet, unless you do something that deserves it. Fyre watched from his new hidden position. he thought this is really getting annoying. pretty soon whole damn party will know i\'m here. i knew i should have bought a full invisibilty cloak. bah, i\'m giving out these knives like candy. sure, i\'ve got another 50 more, but i\'m gonna run out of them within a week if i lose them at this rate.  Fyre shook his head again and sank back into the murky pool of darkness.

Keldorn examined the map that Tagdaen was holding. It looked old, the edges of the wrinkled map looked like they\'d been gnawed upon by a small rodent, probably a rat of some kind. Small holes had started to emerge where the paper was getting thinner. The paper had a brownish colour and some markings had started to fade.
\"Well, looks like the people who drew this map are long dead by now. It must have been a long time since anybody ever went to this place.\"
Keldorn stroke his fingers over the map, \"I just hope nothing has changed since then.\"

Keldorn raised his head and looked in the darkness where he had seen Fiere dissapear, \"And I just hope our female diaboli is a friend indeed.\"

Rantal watched Tegdaen rummage through his stuff, looking for the map. He finally pulled it out, and looked at it. Then, Tegdaen gave it to Keldorn, who examined it in turn. Rantal was impatient to get moving on the journey, after he had taken a look at the map, of course. Right now, all he could do was look around for anything of value, which was highly unlikely. He decided to sit down on some rocks, instead of standing around, doing nothing.

The sight of a six foot winged man was more than enough to make even a rogue as arrogant as Fiere dive for cover. The spew of obscenities was nothing new to her but it was a surprise to hear it from a stone cavern roof far above her head.

As she read the note she twirled the knife in her other hand.

\"Right\" she thought \"Now I\'ve got to get a good look around before those buffoons behind me come shouting down the corridors again while being followed.\" She sighed heavily and then cursed herself again for being so loud.

She placed the knife in her boot and continued scanning the caverns. Her familiar smile brightened her features once again.

\"Well, it wil certainly make it more interesting...\"

*Yawning loudly and visibly* Pheonix paced about a bit before leaning against the nearest cavern wall.

Well he for one would not use the time as idly as the others had while they figured out how to read the map he began checking the tightness of his bow string, taking the inventory of his weapons, but most of all resting, after all the earlier fire spell had taken a lot out of him.

Fiere walked lightly across the tunnel floor, careful not to create the slightest noise. Her breathing seemed as loud as the slamming of the bronze doors as she picked her way through the dark. Something caught her attention from the corner of her eye and she changed her path to get a closer look.

There on the cavern ground lay a singed peice of parchement. She sniffed the air as she leaned towards it but the foul stench of foreign magick made it impossible for her to detect anything further out of the ordinary.

\"She who hesitates..\" she mused as she reached out and picked up the tattered paper. \"Hmm nothing painful, must not be some purported holy relic\" she thought as she turned it over. The writing was utterly alien to her and no matter how she turned it she could not make sense of the script. \"Looks like this one is out  of my realm of expertise\" she thought as she looked about for the Klyros. \"Time to get back to the party\"

With this, she stood and made straight back to where the others were waiting.

Fyre saw the diaboli move gracefully and silently ahead, and bend down to pick up a piece of parchment. it was too far away to see, but there was writing on it and it looked like it was written in ancient runes. as she began heading back down the tunnel after a final look around, Fyre began thinking. he hadn\'t seen writing like that since...he shook his head. no. no delving into the past. that always brought such bad memories. back in the time where Fyre had trusted....long ago. khaless nau uss mzild taga dosstan  he thought, then shook his head and moved forward stealthily, unseen and without a sound. as he moved forward, he came to a point in the tunnel where it widened into a cavern. Fyre stopped short and cursed silently in his mind. in the cavern, was a large party of raiders sitting around a campfire apparently resting, examining treasure, sharpening weapons, and eating. ...10..11..12.......15 raiders. not good. very not good.  luckily, the raiders had not yet spotted Fyre. he turned around and began to glide stealthily back down the tunnel, his mind racing to find a way to warn the party without revealing himself. suddenly, he heard footsteps and sounds of the party\'s conversation drifting down the tunnel toward him. oooooooo no. why can\'t the fools be quiet? well, here comes a fight. Fyre drew both katanas, and held them low so that they would not shine and reflect light, drawing attention. he was still hoping not to reveal himself, but he was prepared in the extreme for a fight.

Pheonix was still resting against a cool and rough cavern wall.
He had sharpened his blades, taken inventory of his arrows twice, tightend and retightened his bracers and the parties scout was still not back. His boredom grew to the point that he even considered casting a light spell despite its foolishness just to get a reaction out of the others.

The others spoke loudly looking over a map that one of the dwarves held, he wondered if they even knew how to read a map, and betting himself that one or both of the dwarves would somehow end up digging for treasure in this place, this place that was so full of strange energy that it caused his hair to stand on end.

As he began wondering  what the source of the energy could be his ears twitched as he heard faint footsteps getting closer and closer. The others were talking amongst themselves so loudly he doubted any of them would notice Fiere coming until she was a few feet away. She walked gracefully with a purpose. Her body moving enticingly with her every step her clothes seemed to conform to her body perfectly. With a jerk as he realized he was staring again Pheonix turned his eyes away from the diabolis tempting form and forced himself to begin counting his arrows again.

Keldorn looked in the dark, he saw something moving. It was moving towards them. Keldorn considered reaching for his sword but then he noticed the elagance with which this person was moving and the shape of the body. He lowered his hand, this was definetly Fiere.

Keldorn started approaching Fiere, as he moved closer Fiere came clearer and clearer into view. Until he could see her face. It was smiling at him in that sinister way. She had probably seen him all the time as he moved towards her.

\"So then, what news do you bring?\" Keldorn tried to be as friendly as he could be. Fiere waved her tail, noticing that Keldorn was struggling to keep his face in a friendly smile.

Rantal watched as Fiere came back. Rantal stood up and asked while motioning towards the scrap of paper, \"Yes, what news do you bring? GM note: Moving for Xolon, who hasn\'t appeared in a long time. AHHHHH! NOOOO! Xolon didn\'t fight during the battle! I\'ll start off after the battle.

IC: Xolon watched the mimic get literally melted by some sord of acid. He also saw a new elf, seemingly one who had fired the unknown arrows. Xolon greeted him unenthusiastically, and watched the others complain about the light. Including Tegdaen. Xolon snorted, and muttered something about dwarves being able to see underground, as they\'re good miners.

He then joined the others around the map to see what was on it. The Diaboli, who\'s name was apparantly Fiere, went off to scout ahead. She soon came back. Xolon decided to examine the map more closely, and eavesdrop on the news.

Hearing Xolon snort, when he said that he could not see well in the dark, Tegdaen felt the need to explain.

\"I come from a long line of Warriors. My family has never needed to mine to get by. I am proud of my heritage, as I am sure you are proud of yours. I will not hear another word of it, else I may be forced to show you why my great, great grandfather was named Telmaren, Wielder of the Silverblade.

Deep beneath the group of adventurers, laying in a pile of rubble amidst a wide cavern, someone stirred.  A groan emanated from the debris in the middle of the room, and several rocks clattered on the ground as a figure rose from the dust.  The figure toppled and caught itself on the ground, then crawled a few feet from the pile before flopping itself down to rest.

Aruneko groaned again.  His body was weak, from the fall and the stones which fell after him.  He reached up and felt his forehead, passing over a couple bruises and a scratch.

Suddenly a shuffling noise from ahead startled him, and he staggered up, grabbing for his weapons on the ground.  Many of his arrows had been crushed, and his bow was bent out of shape.  Silently he drew his knife from its sheath and checked his surroundings.

He was in a cavern: almost round, about 10 feet in diameter.  Behind him a tunnel went downward, before him a tunnel went straight a bit and wound away somewhere else. Ahead of him he heard more shuffling, of many creatures.  He took a few steps backward, and began fishing for his pack amongst the rocks.  It was a crushed mess when he found it; little food had survived, but he still had a bit of dry hard wafers, mostly crumbs.  He ate them, but all the while he listened for more signs of creatures.  After safely consuming the wafers, he stowed everything back into his pack and placed it in a corner, unseen.  Aruneko once again prepared his blade, to see what was ahead.

IC: Rantal asked Fiere, \"Well? May I see that paper? It might contain useful information.\" Rantal, by now, had just about recovered his magical power and was willing to go on into the tunnels.  He tried to control his impatience, and so far, he was succeeding.

GM note: Moving for Xolon

IC: Xolon listened as Tegdaen began talking about his family being a line of warriors, not miners and smithers. Xolon frowned inwardly, inside his mind. He, it seemed, was the only good smith in this party of weaklings who couldn\'t handle an anvil, much less work with metal, but he wanted to keep things friendly, So, he said, \"Ah, I see. In that case, be sure to stop by my smithy after this quest is over. You\'ll be sure to have some high quality weapons there, both magical and non-magical. It\'s just the blasted iron shortage that makes me unhappy.\"
Then, turning to the others, he asked, \"Exactly when will we move on? We\'re just sitting ducks here, and that\'s no good for anyone, especially for Ylikulum(OOC: I can\'t spell that right...).\"

Rantal took the paper, gave his thanks, and eagerly set to examining the paper. The parchment was scorched and blackened, but otherwise, there was no other signs of damage. The parchment was written in a language that only high-level mages knew of, but Rantal had studied the language for no apparent reason, other than he was insane. Most creatures didn\'t bother with studying the language, for two reasons. One: Rantal stumbled across the translation thingy by luck, and Two: It was unlikely that one would be able to use it anyways. When Rantal just glanced at it, he suppressed an excited gasp, as this would have to conceal good information.

Rantal looked at each symbol on the parchment carefully, and when he finished, he was faintly smiling. These were instructions on how to use a magical portal that seemed to be planted in the tunnels, and Rantal now knew how to use the portal and where it was located, although he was not about to tell everybody, in case there were traitors in the party. He would tell with time. In the meantime, he pocketed the parchment and said cheerfully, \"Lets get going, then. Fiere, please lead the way, as you know these tunnels best. Warriors, please follow in the front and back, and archers and mages are advised to go in the middle. Lets go.\"

He was glad that the mage wanted him to stay toward the middle of the group that way he would not have to fight the urge he knew that would exist to watch the dioboli\'s sultry stride. Instead he could watch the back of one of these \"fighters\" heads, Laanx forbid the mage wanted the dwarves  in front, that would not exactly be much protection from the view of her stride....... * pheonix shook his head as he pondered exactly what he was feeling*

Strolling forward to join Xolon, with his axe by his side, Tegdaen saw Fiere glance at the tunnels ahead, as though expecting to see someone, or something, up there.
He did not know what to make of it.

While waiting for the others take their positions, Tegdaen ran his thumb across the blade of his axe.
He tilted his head in Xolons direction.

Keldorn saw the two dwarves standing at the front, and decided to stay at the back of the party. No sense to have all the swords at the front when you are attacked from behind.

So Keldorn stayed behind Pheonix and gestured to Rantal to also get in the middle so that they could get going.

\"I\'ll lead you to where I found that bit of paper.\" Fiere said matter of factly,\"But unless you can decipher it we are going to need more of a lead to find the culprit from there. Nothing moves in that cavern any longer and it stinks of foreign magics.\"

She curled her lips at the corner as she glanced at Pheonix from the corner of her eyes, and started off into the darkness. \"Hope my watcher in the dark is what he says he is...\"she thought to herself as she passed the last faint glow of light in the stone corridor.

Rantal got into his place in the party, and Fiere said that she would lead them to where the paper was found, and that the area \'stucnk of foreign magic.\' At this, Rantal got excited at the prospect of learning more magic. Also, she said that the paper had to be deciphered. Ah well, thought Rantal. Might as well tell everyone what was in the paper now, and have regrets later. Anyways, thought Rantal, I\'m probably the only one who knows how to read the paper, anyways. Fiere began to lead the party to the area, and Rantal followed, along with everybody else. While walking, Rantal coughed and said, \"The paper seems to be written by mages. Also, it is instructions on how to use a portal that is in the Labryniths. I\'ll know when we get to the area. For now, we\'ll continue walking on.\"

AT THE RAIDER\'S CAMP

\"Attention! We will attack a band of soldiers that\'s been sent to clear this area! Commanders, rally your raiders, and wait for the signal to attack! The soldiers will be coming soon, but will stand no chance against us!\" The raider scouts spread the word, after recieving the instructions from the chief of the raiders. They had settled here after the damaging of the Crystal, and were slowly making plans to attack the nearby colony. For now, they had to wait a while and build up their forces. However, the occasional band of troops that tried to pacify this region only gave the raiders weapons, armor, and experience. The raiders were very confident of their strength by now, and they were very eager to attack another party of soldiers.

Fyre saw a sudden whirlwind of activity in the raider camp. hmmmmm he wondered what are they up to? well, it doesn\'t concern me, MY concern is those adventurers...speaking of which.... he looked back toward where he had last seen them, and saw the diaboli approaching. she was looking around, as if looking for something ...or someone. Fyre stepped to a patch of shadows which had an angle so only the diaboli could see into it and the rest of the adventurers couldn\'t. He drew one of his katanas, and held it up so it\'s reflective edge caught the light once. Fyre sheathed his blade, and moved stealthily parallel to the path the diaboli was taking, carefully looking in all directions.

Pheonix nodded in response to the observation about Fiere being trouble.

Annoyed with himself for allowing others to notice his distraction Pheonix began going over sword forms in his head.
Even though it galled him to use his sword he knew he was good with it and it became neccessary to weild it from time to time.
He walked along seemingly alert, and to a degree he was certainly more so than any dwarf or human could ever be,
but his focus was not on his surroundings, it was on avoiding staring at Fiere.

The party moved onwards into the darkness. They kept into their formation led by Fiere.

Besides the occasional cursing when one of the party members who could not see well in the dark would trip over a loose stone the party did not speak, they were all too focused on the threat of death which ciould be lurking around every corner.

Because of the limited sight of some of the party members the party had to move slow, which started to annoy the people who did see well in the dark.

After some time Keldorn heard noise in the distance, it was the sound of a group of people, they were excited about something. From the sound of it they were preparing for a battle.
Keldorn hissed: \"Stop! Don\'t you hear it?\"

/ooc: that group are the raiders, should you have any doubt.

RAIDER CAMP

The chieftain of the raiders looked around at his gathering army of orcs, trolls, goblins, and other strange creatures that have not yet been given a name. He was an orc, and he wore signs of battle everywhere. He had fought his way to the top, and was cleverer than most orcs, so that helped, too. Anyways, the camps of raiders managed to group under their leaders, who were in turn gathered around the cheftain, who was standing in front of his tent. The cheiftain of the raiders looked at his army, which by now, preparations were complete, and then he said to his commanders, \"Groups with the most strongest troops attack first. Goblin and swift troops charge win battle start.. We win.\" The commanders left out to carry out their \'orders.\'

MAIN PARTY

Rantal heard Keldorn hiss, \"Stop! Don\'t you hear something?\" Rantal did. Apparently, someone or somethings were getting ready to attack someone or somethings. Rantal listened carefully. \"Ahh, unless I am mistaken, someone is about to attack us or another. We\'ll nee scouts to see what is happening there. Or spies. Well, lets hide in the shadows with weapons at the ready. Fiere, you can do the dirty work again and scout the foward area. If they\'re coming this way, throw a knife at that rock over there,\" Rantal motioned to that \'rock over there,\' and continued, \"If they\'re going another way, throw something else our way, and we\'ll come out and meet up with you. Depending on who they are, we\'ll decide what to do later.\" So saying, Rantal hid behind some nearby rocks.

Nevertheless, Tegdaen held his axe at the ready and squashed down as small as a dwarf can squash.

RAIDER CAMP

In the raider camp, the commanders of the melee groups took their places in front of the line on a steed. The steeds were fierce, had red eyes, horns, and extremely strong and quick. The drawback was that they were rather hard to control and always carried their riders into the thick of battle. That\'s why the Orc-like commander chose them. He did not want coward commanders. The archers and archer commanders... Well, they had \'regular steeds\', regular meaning  something one knows as a horse in another world, but changed somewhat.
Anyways, when all of the commanders were in their positions, and the Orcish cheiftain was ready, and so was everybody else... The Orcish cheftain gave the order for the brawny and regular troops, except the fastest runners(He organized them earlier), divided themselves and headed different directions in the plan to surround the enemy army and crush them. Once they were a distance away, the Orc chieftain(Who\'s name was... Jubbaboe, for convenience  :P) gave the order for the remaining melee groups to charge. They did so. When that group and ran for around five meters, there was the sound of battle in the air. Screaming, arrows speeding through the \'air\', the launching of stones, and the distant clanging of metal upon metal.
Now, Jubbaboe faced his group that rained missles down to the earth from the earth, and motioned them to join the battle. Jubbaboe, on his fierce steed which was impatient for battle, began to lead the archers to the battle. Confident of victory, there was only one commander and thirty troops guarding the camp. The main party didn\'t know this, of course...

OOC: Will change Jubbaboe\'s name if nobody likes it.  :P
-----------------------------------------------------------------
MAIN PARTY

Rantal heard the distant sound of battle in the air. He turned to the rest of the party, which was hiding in the shadows. He asked them, \"Should we attack? Or should we send some scouts in to see what\'s going on, who\'s fighting who, and other information? I like the latter choice better, so why don\'t we? So... Who volunteers to become a scout?\"
