Here is a sword I made in Illustrator, took about 2 hours.
If any one has some tips or links to going 3D, that would be cool, I have blender, but not very good at using it! :)

OOOhhh I like!
-
Holy crap! That\'s awesome! The shiiiiiiiine! *0*
-
Ooh, spiffy! I suck at illustrator, so that doubles my awe.
-
thats\'s some nice sword!
i have blender too and i suggest you start with the blade with just a cube, turn it 45 degrees, make it a sword shape(that the top 2 vertices are a bit closer to eachother than the side ones), subdivide one, delete middle vertices, then make a swort shape again but this time with a curve in it(for the smooth part of your sword), then extrude/scale extrude/scale until you reach a nice lenght. tune this so it has the shape of your sword and then start with the handle.(you can set smooth whenever you want, but don\'t do it on the edges, or else it will lose it\'s sharpness)
stich it to the blade and make the kling.(the hand protecting part)
i hope this helps, good luck!

Cool!, thanx for the good response!
@ rosmerelmer ? thanks for the tips, will get into that soon! :)

Hm... Doesn\'t the metal usually go through the wood, instead of wrapping around it? Or it has a stronger attachment. I can\'t say it looks too realistic at the moment, though the rendering is gorgeous, as before :)
-
I know what you mean Karyuu, about the blade through the wood, just dont know how you would physically do that! (axe or pick handle style).
It might have looked abit better with a metal cap on the end or something.
@ Black_rose, yeah, I am working on a Sabre at the moment! :)
-
WHOOT!!!! now all i gotta do is get you to do the katana.....
-
Katana, is that like a Samurai sword aye?

Edit: Oops, sorry about that, not paying attention.

Actualy thats how it is suppost to be. The shaft goes through a hole in the blade and a wedge is driven into the shaft to keep it in place. Though a quality weapon would have a cap over the part of the shaft sticking out.
-
I know Hatchnet, I also said \"or [...] a stronger attachment\" :) Example:
Sikarda\'s blades look as though they are a liquid metal poured onto and around the wooden pole, instead of welded onto it.
-
That axe is cool! is that a photo Karyuu?. I picture my axe head as being made by metal casting? I dunno :)
-
Indeed, it\'s a photo (http://www.a2armory.com/vabaaxe.html) :D Wouldn\'t mind having a pair of these on my wall.
-
scroll down to the photos of my personal collection. ;)

Thats more of a short sword than a saber. Here is a link to a pic of a US Calvary saber. Perhaps you can us it for inspersation.

I checked your own collection also, very impressive! :)
