Title: Updater just continues work if mouse is moved in updater window!!!
Post by: dentaku on August 19, 2005, 11:42:30 pm
Today, I started the updater to update to the latest version. For the first minute the updater window worked and showed what it does. And suddenly it just stopped. I clicked \"check game server\" and it continued working until the next stop... then I noticed that it continued updating as long as I moved the mouse in the updater window, somtimes continue for a few seconds when I stopped the mouse ... until I continued moving the mouse....

I honestly see no connection between this two things, but, if you think that was what made it work, and you\'ve the game updated, then I\'ll say nothing.
Anyway, there have been some random crashes of the server today so, perhaps the updating process was stopped for that reason.

Nope, I\'m still updating because it only continues when I move the mouse ... I set here for hours because I don\'t want to just move the mouse and wait but also do other things in between and see that it only continues when I move the mouse within the updater window.

Well, great: after I finally \"moved\" the updater to finish, I started Plane SHift and got ...

\"You are not running the correct version of PlaneShift\"

... this sounds like a joke as I just updated it!?!?!?!

Check the linux forum. Perhaps you didn\'t took the right build?

In any case, the updating process can be interrupted at any time and continued later. Thus you can just kill -9 the updater and re-run it. Also, if the graphical interface is bugged, then there always is the option of using --auto. That usually works even when the the graphical / interactive mode doesn\'t.
