Title: Update wont load!
Post by: XxACDC KidxX on August 23, 2005, 10:07:04 pm: I just got this game 5 minutes ago and after the setup i chose yes to launch the updater it said it has to fetch the new updater so the new one was download and then it says checking for updates this may take awhile...then it just stay there and i left my computer there for 45 minutes and nothing happened please help

Some of the files downloaded by the updater must be incorrect. We\'re all waiting for a fix. Don\'t worry.

i checked this link from nilrem. It seems i only have to wait but the updater window is completely black and when i put my mouse in it i cant see it.
Plus, the writing that says the percentage of download and the things that are updated is like going on the one before it. What i mean is that instead of being : 55%, then 56% then 57%, etc. it is like 55 56 and 57% on each other.(i cant go to 55% thought)

When you launch the updater, it wil appear to be doing nothing (except taking up all of your CPU cycles) for about an hour, then it will complete successfully and you can launch the game.

I updated both my laptop and my desktop yesterday, and had the same experience with both. Just be patient and everything will be fine.

Post by: DaveG on August 25, 2005, 03:30:34 am: new_player13, just download the new vfs.dll and replace the old one in your planeshift folder with it. Then run the updater, and it should work fine.

Post by: DaveG on August 26, 2005, 12:44:04 pm: Without the new vfs.dll, either through your link or by waiting an hour for the updater to eventually get it, the updater will still glitch. The glitches are only fixed after the new dll is in, replacing the old broken one that was accidentally downloaded.
