Post by: banane on August 25, 2005, 09:23:48 pm
Hi,
I just ran the updater and now, i can\'t start PS anymore. Here is the error message :

tux planeshift $ ./psclient
DLERROR (/opt/planeshift/planeshift/pssound.csplugin): /opt/planeshift/planeshift/pssound.so: Ne peut ouvrir le fichier d\'objet partag? Aucun fichier ou r?ertoire de ce type
WARNING: could not load plugin \'planeshift.sound.soundmanager\'
opening audio device: P?riph?rique ou ressource occup?

planeshift.application.client:
  PlaneShift Crystal Blue
This game uses Crystal Space Engine created by Jorrit and others
  0.99 r0 [Unix-x86-GCC]
  No iSoundManager plugin!
  Failed to init app!
-----

** uname -a :
Linux tux 2.6.9-gentoo-r9 #2 Thu Dec 30 13:51:43 CET 2004 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2000+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

The sound card is not used (I rebooted) and the file \"/opt/planeshift/planeshift/pssound.so\" doesNOT exists!
Is it an issue with this update or with my computer?

THX for help!

Well it\'s obvious that your problem is the missing pssound.so which should be in with the installer. Try installing the update binaries again from Platyna\'s site.

Then first he didn\'t got UPDATE2 and second people shouldn\'t post error
messages in foreign languages anyway. :P

Ok, sorry for the two sentences in French...

tux planeshift $ ./psclient
DLERROR (/opt/planeshift/planeshift/pssound.csplugin): /opt/planeshift/planeshift/pssound.so: Ne peut ouvrir le fichier d\'objet partag?.
Can\'t open shared object file.

WARNING: could not load plugin \'planeshift.sound.soundmanager\'
opening audio device: P?riph?rique ou ressource occup?
Device or ressource busy

I installed PS with 0.3.10, then, I installed the update to 0.3.11 and then ran the updater.

So, now, I should download the complete 0.3.11?

What is UPDATE2??

Thx for help

Device or resource busy means that something else is using your sound
card. It can be eg. artsd used by KDE and ran by default.

UPDATE2 as the name says is a second update for the Linux client which fixes
that issue.

Remove everything except art and run the UPDATE2 which can be found at
http://planeshift.xpam.de.

To these who likes to backup the Internet:
I see the old files are still available somewhere so If anyone mirrors files
available on any my site be that kind and email me with URL and your contact
email where I can send updates so you will not keep distribute outdated files
otherwise you are NOT helping. Generally you should also notify Talad (the
Planeshift project admin) about the fact of keeping Planeshift files on your
servers so be that kind and include a carbon copy to info at planeshift.it.

Regards.

Remove pssound.csplugin from your Planeshift dir.

Um... it should be in the planeshift dir. Every time you run the updater it will download it into your planeshift dir again.
