Title: The PS Personal Ads
Post by: Valbrandr on August 27, 2005, 12:52:27 pm
OOC:  I have searched this part of the forums and I have not seen anything about who you would like to marry, for those who are.  Basically, if you are more attracted to one race more than another (All RP... unless.. :D)  and what you are looking for in a mate.  I will attempt to go first

*Valbrandr hopes everyone wont laugh at him.. hehe

IC:  I was born and raised in a Hammerweilder city looking at Hammerweilder woman.  A very sad life for me.... the woman very much resemble the men and some with more facial hair and dont get me started about their legs :).  At that time during my life I was more interested in adventuring then settling down.  It was not until I came to the grand city of Hydlaa that I first set eyes on woman who cared more about physical beauty then working in the fields and being the basic house wife.  It was easy to compare races here as Hydlaa seemed as a melting pot of all inhabitants of Yliakum.

It is nearing the time for me to settle down and finally marry.  And out of all the races of Yliakum.. I would have to say that Enkis are the most beautiful.  They are athletic, intelligent and I can definatly tell the females apart from the males. I am looking for someone who is Charismatic (hehe), a woman who would be an equal partner in the relationship and someone who would be a bad teacher (hehe.. sorry inside joke).

Female, Drey, female ... not feminine :P

And I guess I could base my answers on the 2D art in the races area of the guide ...

IC as Giorn:

I be a simple dwarven miner so I dun get much attention from the ladies. Though I gotta say me friend Val here has a good point bout them dwarfettes.
Personally I got a bit of a soft spot fer them gorgeous Nolthrir, must be the gills and the blue skin buuut .. I dun think their personalities \'d suit me. Most of em are knowitalls \'n no offence but they usually walk around like they got themselves a mining pick up their heinies.

That \'s why I \'d rather have fun times with a hot \'n feisty Diaboli chick. Least they know how to make a party and us dwarves can be rough lovers ;)

They must get interested at some point, since dwarves aren\'t extinct yet. I\'m actually starting to feel bad for all the poor dwarves girls out there. It doesn\'t sound like they\'re getting much attention.

This thread\'s also making me realize we don\'t have many designs for females at all, save for fenkis. I may have to draw some up.
Title: Approachable but still single enki.
Post by: OrangeOlly on August 29, 2005, 12:03:59 am
I play a highly attractive female enki, and though she has made allusions to her desire for a suitable partner, (discreetly of course) she has had no serious advances. She is now waiting for someone to make the first move. Any race as long as they are kind and not too keen on long camping trips. However, she believes that once married the couple should stick together in a group at all times! This is no small commitment.

Recent studies have shown that dwarves are getting taller and beginning to develop fur and red skin.... :P

I\'m getting weirded out just thinking of Dwarf/ Enki /Diaboli hybrids. Little bearded demon spawn? Though, mini Enkis would look cute... like kittens.

Im sorry I just cant do it.  I used to talk with Nilaya all the time and I dont know if I treat men and women differently but when I found out he was a guy it really changed my tone. And at times it creates awkward situations.. well atleast for me :). I guess it would atleast be nice to know it is a guy to start out with.    :P

Edit:  And this is all RP.. Im not really afraid of being alone.  I am an okay guy I swear  8) , and Im friendly and I can do tricks.. Okay im an a** you got me  :P

Val, I understand quite well what you mean. Certainly RPing uh... \"romance,\" can be awkward for some if you learn of OOC factors. Beyond that, though, I hope not too many things change.

Understandable enough, but I bet that\'s going to greatly limit your IC dating pool. In game romance would feel awkward to me as well, unless I can convince my boyfriend to play.

The rest of this thread has just totally confused me.

I find real-life relationships hard enough to deal with; I don\'t plan on starting any in-game romances.  (Of course, that\'s what I said about my real life, right up to the point where I fell in love and got married.)  My character is a bit of a loner, so I shouldn\'t have too much trouble keeping that part of the game in check.

That being said, female Enki\'s are hot.

Of course, that means there\'s only one thing left to do... Make a female char, make Valbrandr fall head-over-hills for you, and never reveal that you\'re a male IRL, and then shock him and laugh manically. :D

Actually, they do need to start adding more and better female models into the game. I\'m really looking forward to \"Lemur\" and \"Diaboli\" ones, since their descriptions specifically speak of their good looks. Somehow, the Ynnwnn female managed to lose her good looks, considering a cross between two supposedly good looking races. The only decent looking female model is Enki but umm, I\'m not into \"beastiality\", so... :P

True. Being female, I\'m usually drawn to play female characters. One of the reasons I went with enki (aside from cats being awesome), was the distinct lack of good models for the other females. I mean, I have to stare at my avatar the whole game, so I\'d rather be something I find somewhat pleasing.

Lol.. :P
Yes the fenki looks quite nice.. although the human.. character (forgot the race name) looks okay..

As for klyroses the females and males look the same :P

I suppose there are always more males playing these games than females so the male models got more priority :P

You cant fool me... I can sense a woman from a mile away.  Okay so I made a few mistakes with Nilaya, Demarthl, Karyuu and Moogie.  But I guarantee that it will not happen again.  I will never refer to someone as \"Cutie\" again who is actually a male *cough *cough sorry about that Nilaya :P. I too often play a female char in MMOs, and usually nice looking ones. I used to play male chars but that became boring. I figured that if, as a male, I\'m going to stare at my character\'s butt during its whole life (third-person view), it might as well be a female butt!  :D;) So, to me, the \"predominantly male playbase\" doesn\'t really mean that much.

(Note to guys: Now, don\'t all go making a female char, I do want to look fairly unique! :P)

That is your primary motivation for playing female characters? When I do it, the fact that my character is female is a more solid and constant reminder to roleplay. I look at her on the screen and I can\'t make the mistake of thinking that this is some sort of avatar, a projection of myself into the game world. She is a unique character, independant of my interests, tastes, habits, and whim. *laughs* Of course, I also had some gender issues earlier in my life, which have given me the unique (or at least very rare) ability among men to roleplay a woman very well, so the result is disturbingly convincing. *snickers* Time to make Valbrandr paranoid...

This is exactly why I would be warry of creating an in-character relationship. Even if you are just RPing, an attachment is still formed, and awkward situations can arise. Besides, who would want to marry Arnigus?! :D

(The above statement is not an indication that I would not, in fact, start and IC relationship...if the right person asked. ;) )

Well I had a pretty good idea but really you never know.  And considering the amount of men who pose as women... I would say the male to female ratio is 50-1.. which is very very sad if you ask me :D. I think the first female I met here was Elscha.  She was very cool.  Its too bad that she is not around anymore.  But you could easily tell she was a she :P.

You have to realize, though, that is only a stereotype born of historical societal standards, and has nothing to do with how people really are.

Not really. It\'s true that hormones and such are a factor, but there is nothing ironclad (adamant, unbreakable, whatever...you get the point) that makes men truly different from women on a psychological level.

We just take it all in stride, Demarthl. Some of us even find it amusing (because yes, I am just that sadistic). *laughs*

IC: Karii lounges in the grass by Hydlaa Plaza, grooming her snow-white fur. A thoughtful look crosses her face, and she chuckles softly to herself. She stretches her long legs and fixes her icy blue eyes on the cavern ceiling with a thin smile on her face. She says nothing.

I barely know anything about psychology but, don\'t hormones afect ones psychological view and so having different hormones would in fact cause a change on the psychological level.

I may be wrong but, I like to believe I\'m not.  Personaly, I think that men and women are very different, why some people tend to take that as an insult is beyond me.  Different isn\'t worse or better.

Hormones don\'t really force a person to act, feel, or think a certain way. I\'m not an expert on psychology, either, but I speak from experience. So believe me when I tell you it doesn\'t really make a difference. Choice is everything. In many ways, I am more \"feminine\" than many of my female friends.
Title:
Post by: TheMinority on September 01, 2005, 04:40:24 am
hormones can, however, affect a person\'s feelings. they cannot affect their thoughts or actions, but they can certainly influence them.

for example, in real life, when children hit puberty, they tend to act completely different than how they acted when they were younger. not to say that a person doesn\'t change as they grow, but at that age, hormones are running rampant throughout the child\'s body. these hormones have an effect on emotions, which can influence thoughts and actions.

as we say in psychology: understand the thought behind the thought behind the thought behind the action. every action you do comes from a thought, and each thought is influenced by other thoughts and how we \"feel\" at that moment.

i\'m done talking about biology/psychology. XD

hooray for school! math is power!

Post by: Quietus_Silivren on September 01, 2005, 06:00:17 am
As I said, \"influence,\" yes, but nothing can actually cause a person to be a certain way; they have to choose it, in the end.
