Hello everyone. I am just curious about how many people make characters that are not their own gender, whether it is a male playing a female, or a female playing a male, and what races you pick. So I devised this completely anonymous poll. Here\'s how it works, send me your answers to the following questions in Private Message (to do so click on the PM button at the bottom of this post):
(remember your answers will be completely anonymous and will not be revealed to anyone, or even that you responded to the poll, so be honest, and in cases where gender is ambiguous on the character model, such as the elf model, put down which gender you roleplay as, or at least that you tell others you are)
Question 1: Are you male or female in real life?
Question 2: How many characters do you play?
Question 3: What are each of your characters\' races and gender (no names are necessary)?
Question 4: For each character, what gender do you tell other people in the game that you are in real life?
Question 5: Which of your characters are married in game, if any?
I will edit this post with the results, as follows:
Number of replies: 0
Average number of characters per reply:
Average number of characters per reply that are the same sex as the replier:
Average number of characters per reply that are the opposite sex as the replier:
Percentage of repliers who play characters that are the opposite sex as the replier:
Percentage of total characters for all replies that are the opposite sex as their repliers:
Percentage of male characters that are played by female repliers:
Percentage of female characters that are played by female repliers:
Percentage of married female characters that are played by male repliers:
Percentage of married male characters that are played by female repliers:
(below I will write up what percentage of characters from each race that are played by their owners\' opposite sex)
Please note that this poll is not a scientific survey and probably will not reflect the true makeup of the entire planeshift community very accurately.

What?! The only Elf model available is male (females have to use Ynnwn), and obviously so... At least, it\'s obvious to me. Elves are naturally androgenous by Human standards, but it is still very easy to tell.
-
Yes, interesting it is. Gender issues seem to be the new hot topic around here.
-
My only issues is when you start talking about the person in control of the character when behaviour is an issue. For instance, if I were to make a complaint about an individual, I would want to talk about that person in terms of his or her real life gender as opposed to simply the gender of his or her avatar / character. That is because when you talk about the character instead of the person, you distance that person from the responsibility and accountability to the person\'s in-game actions.

I was going to post the results and update them live but I think I\'ll wait and post them at the end (maybe after a couple days). Thanks everyone for their replies so far.

I don\'t think so... Think of Krans getting involved with other Krans :P It\'s the same thing...
Plus marrying a guy playing a girl isn\'t that creepy... it\'s all RP right?

normallly i find a cunning way to avoid question 4, or just give a non commital answer... somethihng like \"sure, why not\" also it depends how much i know the person aksing.
its really interesting the ways that people act to the different sexes.
-
Sure, RPing a female is the best way to make easy money :D
-
ya (how much money did i give you now :P), its the same as how people can be a little rude to drey... but then if im wearing a GM suit that are all so sweat.
-
Question 1: male
Question 2: one
Question 3: Ashamn Actus, male Ylian
Question 4: male

Is it? What are you doing in game? :D
No one hands me free tria, though I must say I met someone nice enough to invite me into a hunting party at the arena and hand me some looted stuff he didn\'t need. That was pretty generous since I obviously was not strong enough to really help in any way.
-
Just ask for money, Drey gave me something like 4000 trias because that $*!# wipe took away all my money from MB and even my dear ring :(
-
leji goes: drey, gimmie money
*gives the money*
leji goes: it didnt work i got not money
*\"hmm?\" gives more money*
leji goes: still dont work
drey goes: go try trading with harnquist and check in the botton left, the money is there
leji goes: oh, so it is.
editation! and i bought a carrot of you for 5000tria pre wipe :/ (i lost the carrot.)

ROFL ROFL ROFL
Sure, RPing a female is the best way to make easy money :D
other players even force you to accept money :P
And how can you people only play with one char?
If I don\'t have like 5 chars I\'ll die. My chars appear with \"hmm... I need someone to mine stuff for me... I\'ll make a dwarfy miner...\" but then he gets his own personality and story and then the stuff he earns it\'s for him... as a result all my chars pwn Lordbug in money, PP and train *sigh*
Playing another char is one of those weird experiences... I gte absorbed by it\'s personality... when I play a female char I start giggling and act weirdy...
\"Don\'t play a char, be the char\" seem to be my filosophy
-
i only \'play\' one char...
then i have a residue drey char who just sits in the char select screen.
-
I let the client generate a random character for me, (more fun that way). It turned out to be female, so I have been playing her that way.
1) Male
2) 1
3) Enki named Wengull
4) I hate coming ooc, but the once that I have I immediately stated my sex, age etc. Felt it was important not to leave any doubt.
5) My character is not married, but is actively role playing searching for the right partner.
Comments:
I felt I had to tell my true sex, because of the chat room dangers. (I am middle aged parent) and I don\'t want anyone to think for a second that I am being decietful online.
I really enjoy playing this character, who is nothing like I would have chosen had I gone custom!
