For those that have the seen the new member Cooldewd, be warned that he is a troll. If you don\'t know what a troll is, please see here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll). From now on, if he posts, simply do not respond. Hopefully a global mod will be by shortly to clean up the spam. Thanks!

Hes a little kid, not a troll...Take a look at his sig, not only does he like DBZ, he also spelled \'super\' wrong, I\'m guessing his age ratio is around 4-9

His actions are what make him a troll. Even if it isn\'t intentional, he\'s being disruptive. Responding only makes it worse.

shutup. i\'m almost 13. and my troll character is gonna beat you up if you make fun of him. trolls don\'t need to spell properly anyway, they just need muscle kinda like Napa.

This clearly states that he is also from Runescape, due to his consistant use of \"lol\"

lol whats wrong with runescape? lots of people play it. maybe you just don\'t like people. and LOL is in the dictionary now, because lots of people use it, welcome to the internet.

Only people who don\'t have anything smart to say use it...It can\'t be in a dictionary because its not a word, its short for Laughing Out Loud, yet if you laugh all the time, I fail to see whats funny in you acting like a little kid...

Kiern, my goal is to prevent responses and therefore limit what he\'s doing. If people keep responding, it\'ll just keep going. If people realize what he\'s doing (intentional or not), then perhaps they can stop it.

Hmm, and so you started a thread about it. Personally I dont think he\'s a troll, just ignorant maybe. Though its impossible to know for sure. Perhaps the better option would have been to message a mod and get them to delete his posts / give him a ban / warning? Or maybe you already did that. Either way, I dont see how making a thread about it will do much more good than bad. Unless it simply concentrates all the spam in one spot...

I mean people who use lol as their everyday speech, he says lol 3 times in one post, and theres nothing to laugh about, people from runescape always say lol in every...whatever it is they use, a very small chat box or something...When I played it for about 2 monthes, I walk around and see the message lol out of 28/31 people...:P

You do not know anything about roleplaying, what you are doing is godmoding, which makes your fantasy character invincible, but in one strike I can easily send your character to hell and back :P

i feel i must say that there is nothing wrong with runescape. it is an attractive game with many options. i myself played it for a long time before planeshift. i also return to it every now and again because i have friends who play it. granted, i don\'t participate anymore in the levelling, instead i just use the chat. (for example, a friend of mine moved away recently to Germany. i haven no contact with him other than runescape chat)
HOWEVER, if you are into RP and not simply levelling up, it is NOT a game you would enjoy. therefore, there really does not need to be any RS bashing. It is a game for the PLers, and planeshift is a game for the RPers. I\'m sure we wouldn\'t like it if they talked about us in a degrading way.
and i apologize for any RS bashing i have done in the past, as well. i\'ve come to realize that though i might not find the game attractive and fun anymore, it still is a good game (for some people). i\'m not going to go around saying it\'s aweful when, for people who would rather PL, it is a wonderful game.
also, there is no need for name calling or insulting. if you have a problem with Cooldewd, Chaos, i suggest you discuss it with him in private. if he is breaking forum rules, let the admins know, or whoever enforces the rules. like Kiern said, a thread about him is unneccessary.

TheMinority: Troll is not intended as insult here, but as a classification. And yes, he is breaking forum rules (again, I don\'t know if it is intentional or not, but he is).

The point of this thread was to explain what trolls are and indicate the appropriate response. If I could have locked it afterwards, I would have. Now, please, can we just drop the issue and wait for a global mod to clean everything up?

I agree with Cha0s here, this thread was needed to tell some people about what Trolls are and who was one. This thread wouldn\'t have been this Troll\'s playground if people hadn\'t started replying to his posts. A Troll is not an annoying person, a young kid or a looser...it is someone who like to divide an online community and get everyone rilled up.
Let\'s all cool down, get an ale at Kada\'s and stop this Troll from getting what he wants...a fight.

Ahh, Chaos Chaos Chaos... you have much to learn about moderation. Though I\'m still learning much myself, let me tell you some hard-learnt lessons of my time here as a Mod.
1. Trolls want attention. Giving them any attention, let alone an ENTIRE thread, is very bad. You do not want people to discuss trolls, you want them to forget trolls. Making threads to \'warn\' people about trolls is counter-productive. It is better to make it seem like we never had the problem in the first place.
2. PMing a higher level mod is the best way to get their attention. Doing this, you can point out any offenders and the mess will be silently cleaned up without so much as a trace. That way, the troll never existed, nobody will ever remember his name, and thusly he does not get the attention he seeks.
3. Never start a thread where you do not wish people to discuss if you cannot close it. :)
With that said... *throws a padlock and goes to delete some posts elsewhere*
