Title: Problem!?

I understand that i need to use the updater to get the new version of planeshift. every time I start the updater up it works fine untill I click update. Is their any way to remedy this problem or will i have to wait till it\'s uploaded to this site?

First, which updater are you using? Second, what exactly happens when you click update? Third, did you try the other updater?

this is the same problem. i tried both the updaters one of them is a aplication and the other is a .cfg file that will not run

You need to read the Guide to running PS on the Mac by ChaOs.  The other updater is Updater.Jar.      Updater.cfg has the contents but can not be run.  You can look at it by Holding Control down and clicking on the title in you PS directory.

There\'s only 2 updaters updater.app that comes with PS and Chaos\' updater witch is the Updater.jar the .cfg file is just a configuration file.

Since we are talking about problems, I will discuss mine.  After installing OS 10.4.2 , I was able to get into the game and create my character(s) and I play chiefly one since my guild leader gave me weapons and trias to work with.   But I found out that when I looted normally I crashed each time.   I then tried /loot and found I can loot if the creature(s) have no loot but if they have any, normally I will crash.  Likewise when I tried to sell more than 1 item to a merchant I will crash.  I can sell 1 sword at a time or 1 hide but if I have 2 or more hides I will crash.  Apparently if the computer has to ask how many I want to sell, there is something missing and it crashes.    At first I was given two sabres and if I tried to click on them, I will crash.   But I discovered i could /equip them and one of them would jump into my hand.  Also if I have only 1 weapon I can move that to my hand by clicking on the  weapon in the inventory window or by using /equip.
    Anyway many of us are awaiting Dfryer\'s and ChaOs\'s attempts to solve the bugs in Mac PS (Planeshift)  and we are all grateful for their attempting such a feat.

Felix, sounds like you and I have the exact same problem. You seem to have been able to loot a few times at least though. It\'s never worked for me yet.

There was a loot bug and it got fixed. We just need a new build! :P

Another problem is when I would click the group and guild buttons, I would crash.
But when another player invited me as when I convinced a newby that I could kill and she could loot, I was able to receive the loot.   Later when I tried to sell to harnquist, I then learned I could sell 1 of an item but not 2 or more.   I tried equiping a rat eye but to not avail.  if I could only separate some of my loot down to units of 1, I can sell them.    Well at least I am building up pps for later use.

I know that you can type /equip 1 sword, if you have two swords it the same invintory, but the fact that i can't buy or sell anything is sort of a letdown, does anyone know of a way to go around this? or fix it?

I also have the same problem and there still seems to be no fix for it.  Has this problem gone on unfixed for two and a half years?  That doesn't seem right, isn't there any work around?  I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me on this.

Note that I am running it on an Intel Mac, but everything else seems to be working fine for me.

Hi, I am glad, i am not the only one. Picked something up, that didn't belong to me. Now I can't give it back because the game keeps crashing. Looting doesn't work either. What is very strange also, is, I have complete scrambled screens, which makes everything in the inventories or other screens unreadable. Can't add buddies nor can I read anyway. This is so disappointing, as I was so happy to see such a nice free online game for Mac! Fixes would be appreciated. I owe someone a piece or iron.

Please try the suggestion listed in the Guide. If that doesn't work, try emailing dfryer. Hopefully, he'll be able to debug some of these problems in the near future.

Oh!  Thank you very much.  I didn't think turning texture compression off would solve the problem, I thought it was just for those who were having those specific problems.  For future reference to anyone reading and having this problem, Cha0s is refering to the Mac OS X guide and the section about turning texture compression off in the information below.  I would suggest this even if you don't have this problem, since it seems to improved my gameplay in other aspects as well.
