Title: Two little things which are probbly posted before..or alrdy there..
Post by: Xolon on October 29, 2002, 10:49:18 pm
1)
With the guildname above your name ingame, it would be nice to see thats guild logo next to it.

2)
weapons, armours, clothes etc. should wear out after some time, you need to buy new onces or repair the old (wich might lead to less endurance?). Repairing can fail wich means you lost the item.

i stole the 2nd idea from Myth of Soma (1st also), think its a good one, irritating but good...

Maybe guild could have a Coat of Arms that you could upload to appear next to your description of your character when other players look at you. Well if that is even a feature of the game. I don\'t know if that would be too much effort but I know \"Legends\"  and \"NWN\" let you upload portraits.

I can see how the armor wearing out would be irritating but then again it would make good smithing skills and other armor and weapon craft more valuable.

I don\'t know about Legends but NWN isn\'t a MMORPG. Meaning you don\'t have dozens of ppl in the same server who all want to upload their own portrait. Thats the big issue i think.

(fast reply, eh? :) )

It would be if it allowed differant parties into the scenarios which would blow all other games out of the water, since it would be a MMORPG with a goal, and it would be an online D&D game (They would need something cool to save them from the dung heap that was Pool of Radiance.). I like Xolon\'s idea about the guild crests. adds alot of identity to the game, instead of just guild names.

You need to prevent that by letting only the guild leaders post their sign/sysmbol to the dev team, and they will upload it.

and yes, it might be nice for skilled players those items wich needs repairs, but i like to see it in game because it adds some realisme.
Ever fought a huge stone golem whose kicking your ass, while your axe stays sharp and new?

Great Idea with the Guild logo. They had this in Ragnarok online. When you hover your mouse over a person, it comes up with their name, Guild name-Rank and Guild logo. It looked really good.

Also, usually most people tend to go down the fighter class type path. Making items degrade after a while will give more incentive to people to go down the smithing type path.

In DAoC, you could put your guild logo and colors on your cloak at level 20.  A level restriction would prevent a bunch of noobs that won\'t play long from uploading random images.

Ooh I like the idea of having your guild crest/logo on your garments.

The Legends (http://legends.time.net.my/index.cfm) game I mentioned was posted on these boards by Coldflare  earlier.

For the portrait upload you make a *.bmp or *.pcx file. Save it as 256 colours 48 pixels wide by 56 pixels tall.
So its a very small picture that gets uploaded and it stays on your hardrive as a *.epf file (whatever that is, works with the game anyway)

At the very least, I think, we should have guild colors and personal colors. That really shouldn\'t take up much space at all (maybe 8-24 bytes per character, tops) and shouldn\'t be difficult to implement, and those colors can be worked into all of your garments, and it\'d add a lot of individuality to the game at little cost. A guild crest on top of that would be cooler still. If we are going to have guild crests, though, I think they should definately be run by the dev team when the guild is created. Perhaps the crests could be embroidered/etched onto your clothing/armor in your colors (no guild colors)?
