what i think would be cool is if you guys put a program that allows us to buy pets that are controled by the game but help us out in battle animals like baby dragons, tigers, wolfs and any other sugestive creatures that people might want of course to make it fair you guy would mostlikly want to make the creatures expensive but hey if they were powerful and helped in battle and maybe you were able to ride sertain ones i bet people we think it would be worth it and it would give them a goal to shoot for.

No real-life animals will be found in PlaneShift. And there is a rudimentary pet system being worked on, so this isn\'t a new suggestion :) Try using the Search feature of the forum to find previous threads before posting in the Wishlist next time.
*edit* Hm...
combat_assassin_droid from Planeshift forums has sent you the following message:
seeing as you wish to be rude i will not make any more posts in the forums at all after all i wouldn\'t want to upset you just because i had an idea and the people of Planeshift request that i place it down.
Jerk
I wasn\'t aware that I posted anything rude..?

If there was pet animals I would wonna wolf small (my characters a dwarf) and vicious (It hurts when you get bite)
-
wolves will suit a dwarf very well, there could be a pet system that works with nature, Like NWN in nature companion, an elf might work well with a bear, a kran could work with a boar, ylian would work with an eagle and so on, yes the idea would work really well, but make it you start with a baby and you teach it tricks (not do a backflip, just fetch a stick and all the combat skills etc.) the growth will have 3 stages so it won\'t be really hard to make the models, it will just be baby, kid/teenager, fully grown. The idea will suit the roleplaying and it could help you in certain ways, the animal won\'t be able to be a mage, or an archer, though the animal could be a thief, it size would work and when it baby you could teach it thief skills, each animal will have its advantages and disadvantages though it will be a good idea
-
People should be allowed to pick any animal not be stuck with a bad one because of the race :D
-
there were examples, you could have any roleplaying animal but no like dragons or watever, you could have a horse and you could ride around on it to get to places quicker, but then the horse should have a stamina bar and you have to let it drink to get it up, though the animal should have high stamina and low stamina depending on type, and some animals might not be able to be ridden on (all baby animals wont)
-
If you could have animals, familiars, spirits, etc, it would be interesting. If you could \"switch\" between your character and your familiar for the purpose of spying, scouting, communicating, etc, that would be nifty. If you could travel with a pack of animals which would attack whoever is attacking you, that would be nifty as well.
I think it would be nice just to have more wild animals which aren\'t out to kill you. You\'re walking, and you see something small and cute and furry scamper away from you. And birds flying overhead. One issue is labelling / name tags. You can turn name tags off right now, but there\'s no way to turn off tags for characters versus NPC versus objects versus monsters.

Crakaras is pretty dragon-like. I would like to see some larger varieties which can cast fireburst on players. They\'ll be as good as dragons only better since our lovely band of devs will be designing them.
Of course, a very large one deep in the bowels of the death realm would suggest that the dragon council would have to change it\'s name to the crakaras council.

How about this:
Rats=Big \"backpacks\" on their... backs... and you can put stuff in it to make you carry less weight... say if your inventory was full... but there should be a limit to its carry weight of course...
Clackers=Help fighting... maybe could \"climb things\" for the spying idea... since they DO have those sharp points on their feet
Tefusangs=Ride around on maybe help fight some...
Trepor= i dont know... maybe a bed? lol
Ulbernauts=yea... right... what could they be used as anyways?
ect=ect
And maybe there would be a taming skill where you would have to go up to that monster and right click and click tame then it would do a progress bar like the spell casting... and if successful... they follow you and do their job... but if not then they attack you...
-
There need to be more foresty animals like bears or in the cold there could be wolves and wild monkeys
-
Ahahah...hahah... guys? I did mention the no-RL-animals thing, right? :D
Maybe if you tweak them to something more... unusual?
-
how about some of those critters and stuff people draw in the fan art section, also how about.....a hippoherf (half deer, half horse) could be the horse like creature, A Lammasu is a half lion, half eagle and cyclops and so on are mythical creatures, there could a load of creatures that could fit the place of things, there could be an undead horse or something
-
Yes i dont know ALL of the creatures in the game but i listed a few... and some purposes to think of... if anyone has anything better for a creature\'s \"job\" then please post about it... but what do you all think of the Tame skill?
-
tame is the same as my animal companion really, though it can be a little unfair, i reckon just to summon a animal companion (not requiring mana) though you can only summon one a day
-
Well with tame... you have to go up to the monster and right click it then click maybe a leash icon and it will do the prgress bar yadda yadda... of course once the creature gets out of range of the spawn point another one will respawn... you could go into the sewers and come out with a rat... of course tame wouldnt work on people... maybe you could do one called negociate? LOL!
but you could only have one monster follow you at a time...
-
though everyone will do it and there will be no monsters left, in my companion thing you have to be a pretty high lvl, then you get a baby, you teach it tricks (fighting, fetch and maybe even thieving) and it grows in 3 stages (baby, kid/teenager, adult) and it won\'t take away the monsters in the game
-
Ya well if they put som more lets say...rats in the game then it wouldnt be a problem... i played one game that u could enchant monsters to do ur bidding, ya but it should be a spell instead like...some kind of arcane magic cause its controlling their mind...but it should only work for an amount of time then the monster will be let go and free to attack u... Ya but i think the baby dragon and whatevers are cool too but it would be cooler if u could use it at a lower, not tooooo low, level so that the people don\'t have to wait an eternity for it. :)
-
Giant Turtle-like things would be cool by giant I dont mean enormas I mean big like a bike so you could cross water.

There are books in the library which reference bears.
Of course, in planeshift, bears could be creatures radically different from what we\'re used to.
-
well in any case charisma would directly effect the success rate of tmaing... and i have found out that many people either dont read my posts or they dont read all of it... not saying it is all of you or anyone here but in various threads i have noticed that... ANYWHO!
As i said... it would respawn after it was out of a spawn radius and as i said you could only have one following you at a time...
And also... we could use the monsters already ingame so that not much modeling would have to go into it if any...
-
i still reckon the companion that you summon would be better, like zanzibar was kinda saying you could read some books on where to find or how to find, but everyday you don\'t have a new baby or whatever, if it dies then when you summon it again it will start where you left off, and say you will need lvl 10 bookreading skill and a lvl 20 animal companion skill to get the baby and teach it tricks, if you have lvl 10 bookreading, you can still get the baby though you won\'t be able to understand it, you could ask it \"Are you hungry\" or \"I will teach you a trick\" or \"Play Dead\" and so on

Uhhhh....
When I was talking about books, I meant that there are books in the library which you can read that talk about bear attacks. That suggest that there are creatures called bears in the planeshift world. I don\'t know where that other stuff you said came from but don\'t blame it on me.

I like the idea of being able to \"switch\" between your character and your pet. I\'ve played a few games like that.
What about a creature that could run/fly a small item from Oja to Hydlaa or somewhere in between?
/pet equip 1 fire dagger
/pet deliver to
And off he goes, with the skill of a carrier pigeon.

Might be a good idea Stronith...
Anyhow is it possible to have steeds in the near future? Like something to ride on the make life easier when crossin Ojaroad. If someone already suggested it ignore me once more or tell me to delete this post :D
-
No deletion necessary :) There will indeed be mounts in-game in the future: the setting (http://www.planeshift.it/setting_overview.html) page from the main website explains a bit about flying mounts.
