Title: Monster moving(and stuff about rats)
Post by: MonkeyHell on September 17, 2005, 11:26:16 pm
Ok i think they\'re should be WAY more spawn rats(well there are but i mean you have to go so far in the sewer and then you get lost....not like i did or anything <.< >.>) not only that but i\'d like it if the rats or other monsters actually moved around so that you didn\'t just stand in one place thwacking(<--its a word i swear :) ) away at a rat, make it more interesting so that you would have to chase after the rats maybe this doesn\'t sound so good but on games like everquest the monsters are constantly moving so not only are you killing and gaining xp but ur also exploring the sewers as well, and i think that the rats shouldn\'t be put in just one place all grouped up but spread them apart around the sewer so its like BAM!!! you run into a rat tho you didn\'t expect it... so thats my idea

Soon the game will be overcrowded and it will be really hard to get a turn, really all NPCs and Monsters should have a good intelligence (there practising on Harnquist at the moment) though if monsters go all around the sewer, you will have Tefusangs at the start and noobs will keep dying, they should just put a bit more rats inn the sewers and also have another place where the rats will spawn, though they could move but then you move towards harder monsters, just make it move a little bit, though if the rats keep getting overcrowded well if any monster keep getting overcrowded they should make another big spawn point for them, and if it still gets overcrowded then they might have to make another server, i reckon there should be another forest rogue (same loot, same health and abilities etc.)because the forest rogue is a bit easier than the other rogues, and because there is only one (that i know of) it gets overcrowded though not always

Ya thats kinda what i meant ya ok so they can make a little more spawn points for the rats and maybe they could make a little box or whatever that the rats cant walk out of(like an invisible box....not a real one...) so that they don\'t wander around the incredibly hard part for the noobs like som people *cough* me *cough*
Title: Rat and Rogue Spawning
Post by: Stronith on September 18, 2005, 01:00:13 am
Without considering a more advanced AI for the monsters in the game, I think that perhaps there could be a general spawn area instead of an exact place that the creature reappears.

This would add some guesswork as to where the next rat will be, or where that rogue will spawn, make it interesting and prevent camping of spawn points to a degree.

Ya or you could do that but they should at least put in som limit...so that u dont kill a rat then it respawns like 4 towns over or somthing.

I neglected to add that the respawn point should be within a certain area.  Even if it was within .. say 20 feet (to scale) of the last spawn point.

*I hate seeing the crowds around a monster thats not there yet.  I\'d rather see them be on their toes not sure where it\'s going to spawn.

It used to be that rats were only in certain rooms in the sewers, with 6 or 7 rats to a room.  Now, the rooms are empty and the rats are all spread out.

There are plenty of rats in the sewers, and you have to do some exploring.  Getting lost is a pain, and I\'ve done it a few times myself.  When I try to get out, usually I can though.

I still think that the best place for people to hunt rats is Akkaio - the city at the end of Ojaveda Road.  There is a room with 4 rats all in on place, and a side room with 3 rats all in one place.  It\'s usually only enki players there, so there\'s a good chance of having a few rats to yourself.  The walk to sell them is easy too -- the merchant is the only elf in town.  And there is a quest which allows you to sell 6 hides for 100 trias, accellerating things.

If that\'s not good enough, see if you\'re strong enough for clackers.  They pay better, and they\'re easier to find.  The arena has loads of them.

Akkaio is not a secret, you don\'t have to PM me about it.  It\'s the city where all the enki start.

Edit:  From Hydlaa, exit the city and turn left at the T-intersection in the forest.  Follow the road.  You\'ll know it when you see it.

Oh, and if you see and ulbernaughts, run up to them and give them a hug.  The gentle giants of the wild are happy to greet visitors.

I like being able to count on \'Trepor Valley\' for training, the rogues for a weapon (maybe) and the Gladiators when my Kran is in the mood for fish.

But, the excitement really starts when someone has lured a creature onto Oja road.  You\'re running to wherever and there\'s an Ulber. (stop, turn around, run the other way)

Let me run into a rogue somewhere new!  (Although I did notice the rogue just outside the forest was missing for a while yesterday - might have been hanging with Harnquist)

Mind you...I am sure the dev team has smarter monsters in mind, probably lots of stuff asked for and suggested is already planned...

**Stronith crosses his fingers and hopes the \'you are too far away to attack but he is not\'  bug gets fixed soon.** -it\'s really hurting my potion supply

The game isn\'t about fighting.

you could  set them out  to travel on a certain  set  route around the sewers in a loop from the  spawn point..

eg : rat  spawns start and goes  half way towards the back of the sewrs and then  turns around and fijds a route that will take it to the  start again and continue until then. or bottom of the sewers to the  start. or whatever.

that could work but i think a better idea would be for rats to spawn in  a general area.  so you may have to run a little bit before you attack. and this deals with camping too.  where as the other  idea  didnt.

until attacked . rats could wander in a random direction ( changing direction when  come into range of  a wall or somthing... ).

Be that as it may, currently that is the main functional aspect of the game.  (other than exploring)

I look forward to crafting, mining, cooking and the multitude of ideas I\'ve seen.

When one character can look different than another of the same race, have a completely different skill-set and still make a living...then \"thwacking\"  won\'t be the highlight.

Of course, until then roleplaying will have to do.

that last message was to dying_inside not Stronith but Stronith makes a good point PLUS he used the word thwacking so hes cool in my book. And still a lot of people like a good role-playing game where they can fight to so as not to get bored.

if this is off topic sorry, but they seriously need to fix up that forest rogue, he keeps keeps hitting and teleporting and it takes me forever to hit him sometimes

Fighting is easily the most useable skill in PS atm, i am with Stronith saying crafting, archery and the huge list of great skills coming, i cannot wait for them to come out, though on that note ALOT of people will join as people will spread the word that PS is an awesome game, so in the update we will definetly need a lot more cities and spawn points

The sewer could have some enhancements to make for more rats and spawn points, the ladder going to the sewer needs to have one more in between the lot so you don\'t always get stuck in the middle, the sewer map needs to be a bit less confusing (i could probably still get stuck in sewer), the tefusangs behind the pole is a great idea as it stops noobs from getting killed a lot less, they could be a few more tefusangs in sewers, the fanatics could drop some loot and yeh thats about it

Don\'t worry about it.  I have a reputation for being one of the worser power levellers.  Of course, for me to have such a strong reputation I must also be doing a certain amount of RPing.  And there\'s also the question of alternate characters.

On a sidenote:  If there are bowers, then we also need a fletching skill (arrow making).
