I just tried to connect to http://planeshift.xpam.de/ to download an update and I got a page saying
This is site has been closed, send your thanks to Moogie who used all her connections and social engineering abilities to turn my Planeshift work into a nightmare.
Planeshift has lost about 400 GB of traffic/month and a devoted to her work Linux maintainer (not that Talad cares).
You may want to take a look on Once MMORPG or RPG Players Community though.
?( Does this mean that Platyna got upset about something and has decided to stop doing what he was kind enough to do for us?
-
yes, she left. she didn\'t have to, but she did.
what is written on her site is just spite, i suggest you ignore it and praise Xordan fo re taking up issuing linux thingies.
-
Thanks for clearing that up. Could you tell me where/if I can get PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.linux.x86-UPDATE3.run?
Did Platyna give any reasons (other than the rather hard to understand ones on her site) why she left?
-
I\'ll be releasing some installers pretty soon I think, so just wait a bit and I\'ll get them up.
And she left because of bad relations with quite a lot of people to keep it short.

I hope that Platyna\'s decision doesn\'t leave us linux users as second class citizens again as it was when Karosh stopped issuing installers, while I can install/compile from source it\'s always easier with a decent install program :)
so thanks in advance Xordan

Which should make us wonder WHY exactly do we lose valuable Linux-oriented developers and porters... I just hope it doesn\'t become a trend :/

i personally found platyna a very valuable person. i had some talks on irc with her, when i compiled ps from cvs.
i think i\'ll miss her :(
she really did some good work!
edit: i found out some more details. i still think it is a loss, but it is probably the best.

I will also be taking up the linux cause as well since I use linux almost 100% of the time. Xordan is working on a cool installer and I will do my best to fix the updater so that it a) works well with linux b) See if it can be converted to use a bittorrent system to help with speed and load.
