I count 100, and that\'s just the ones I can pick out from the facets (and doesn\'t even begin to count the handle, which has tons in it).  Even counting quads you don\'t come up with 24...

Edit: Here is a real 24 poly sword. (http://www.freepgs.com/falcon/psimages/real24.jpg)

Yea, definitely not 24 polys. What are you using to make these, by the way?

P.S. Don\'t triple-post... use the edit button!

*makes a random short post*

It seems like more and more people seem to be focusing on models themself and not the textures. IMO the best swords (especially for MMO\'s) are the ones with minimal exageration on the model. Just a basic sword design, but with very good realistic texture.

Every sword I see by someone new in 3d design has all these spikes, razors and cool nifty little doo-dads, but they aren\'t pulled off due to either unrealistic design, or the fact they have no good texture to compliment them.

Come on people, it isn\'t all model design. :|

I concur 100%.  I\'ve said it before, and I\'ll say it again, poopinmymouth (http://www.poopinmymouth.com/tutorial/tutorial.htm).

Gravalden could have added a patina to the gold parts of his sword, but I think it looks pretty sweet otherwise.  It looks like it\'s two handed, and as such could be a bit longer.

and for those of us that can hardly texture above the \"paint\" level? Although buying a tablet would help me immensely... /me hoards for a few more years :D

Jelly, texturing isn\'t a skill you have to be born with.  You practice it.  If the \"paint\" level is where you\'ve been for the past year, then I\'d say you haven\'t been practicing for a year.  Also, there are no magic tools that will help you texture better.  Yes, tablets are sweet, but if you suck at texturing with a mouse, you\'ll suck at it with a tablet too.  You know what I think would be appropriate here?  This (http://www.poopinmymouth.com/tutorial/money_mouth.htm).  Put up, or shut up (not to be rude, I\'m quoting a line from that article).
