Title: An inquiry into level changes
Post by: Gentar on September 26, 2005, 05:37:54 am
Im really sorry about doing this but my curiosity is too great. Please dont take my observations or my questions wrong, for i am simply trying to inquire into what is being accomplished. I\'m sure everyone has noticed that there has been no level change in about three months and the ones that have been done werent on a major scale. I am just wondering if we can expect any larger changes within a resonable time or, if they are meant to caome with the next version.

It seems that these types of threads never accomplish much in gaining straight answers, mainly because nobody would know such things. I was just curious, however, so I thought I\'d try regardless. I trust that this is a question others were asking as well.

Well, from what I\'ve heard most of the 3d devs aren\'t with us anymore. So if you want to see some progress in that area, please do contribute by trying to make some maps yourself, and see it the devs are interested!

According to http://www.planeshift.it/helpus.html, which was updated recently, yes there is only one WTB 3D member listed. Howver, I was not listed untill recntly, and that did not stop me from contrbuting code. There could be any number of people contrbuting work to prove themselves worthy of joining the team right now.

And yes, you should apply. You reading this. Uncle Talad wants you! to contribute back to PlaneShift.

3d capabilities is beyond my capabilities, as much as I would love to contribute. IU can draw pretty well tohugh, and have already posted some armor concepts in the art forum. I applied tothe team but never got a response so i think i will take arcane falcon\'s advice and try to get a hold of venge.

The current problem is that there are more 2D concept artists on the team (and applying) than 3D artists, so we aren\'t exactly a needed accessory at the moment ;)

Uncle Talad also needs someone to make a poster that says \"Uncle Talad wants you!\". I\'m guessing..

the fact that there are very few modelers is disconserting to me. I\'d imagine that development will be moving at a much slower rate because of it. I applied to the savannah college of art and design a few days ago, and am hoping to major in interactive design and game development, so perhaps in a few years I will be able to contribute a good deal to the planeshift.

we have some aspiring young modellers learning the ways of trippy 3d visualisations, perhaps with encouragement we can press them into imroving at such a rate that we can have a nice 3d team by christmas, thats one wish santa can\'t get you though :P

Does anybody willing to contribute (and not necessarily going to join the team) have to do it as stated on recruitment page (I mean send application) ? Or is there any pre-recruitment procedure ? From what I saw in other threads, showing  a stuff publicly is not a good idea.

In order to submit content you need to agree to the PlaneShift Atomic Blue Contract, and as far as I know, sending in that application is the best/only way to get one. Feel free to specify that you only want to be a part-time contrbuter when you send that email.
