Today is a very Sad day for me. I wake up to find not just a guild mate has left, but a really good friend. Bodacher helped me when I was new to PS. I have also seen him help many others who were new to the game. We have adventured togther many times, & shared many a tale & ale in the Tavern in Hydlaa afterwards.
In all the days that I have known Bodacher, he never has been so much as rude to another player, let alone do any of the things some people have accused him personally of doing. To the contrary, he has provided guidence, help & in some cases friendship to those in need.
To those that say, \"well you do know him\", I say \"no, it is you who do not know him\". A good Dwarf has left us today & PS is just a little bit worse for it. I hope that Bodacher will return one day.

A solitary Ralas stands in a corner of the tavern, letting shadows hide him while he clutches his ale. For only the second time that he can remember, his eyes begin to water in grief. He takes a large sip of ale in an attempt to kill his sorrow, but in veign. \"Bodacher...why? This makes no sense...but then, I have not seen my friend in some time, perhaps I have missed something...\" These thoughts do not offer much consolation. Ralas downs his ale, places the empty mug on the nearest table, and exits, to wander the streets of Hydlaa alone, still trying fruitlessly to make some sense of this sad departure.
OOC: Bodacher was one of my first PlaneShift friends. I have never seen him be anything but kind and courteous to anybody. He was someone that I could always count on to be in character, and these days that is rare and extremely valuable. This is indeed a sad day as we have lost a good player, a good character, and a friend.

Didn\'t know him, nor do I have any idea why he might have left, but I know what it feels like when a good friend decides to move on. Still, as a good friend, I\'m sure he\'ll not leave you guys hanging without some form of contact, so don\'t feel too sad. :)

Kupier, depth (sorta), all of IT, and syzerian (sorta). Everyone loses friends, but remember ps is a game and just like people leave other games. Theres no need to make a thread for this...

I wanted to express my saddness at the loss of a friend, I wanted to share that with the whole community. I want to thank you personally for trashing this thread. Your sensitivity & compassion shows no bounds. Point out one rule of this forum that I violated with this thread.
I am really disappointed in you totally. This community has suffured a loss & all you can say is no need to make a thread about it.

Actually it\'s been stated many times to stop with the bye threads and as far as I\'m concerned this is a bye thread. We forum regulars are sick of these. Post goodbyes in your sigs, please...
Oh and if he was truly your friend why not just stay in contact. I talk to Faldrok(wholeft) almost every day on msn. Another friend of mine from here most of you don\'t know also talks to me on aim almost every day sio like just stay in conact, no need to go all drama queen like you bff just died...

Indeed this is a sorry loss. Thank you for your kind words, Moogie.
Every day that another honorable player leaves, and every day that a less-than-honorable player manifests him/herself ingame, with no recourse of discipline, the positive effects of this community--for both the sake of the game itself and yes, for the people who are in it--is put more in jeopardy.
When an outstanding community member leaves due to the manifestations of \"evil,\" \"foul play,\" or \"call-it-whatever-you-will,\" the community owes it to itself to reflect on the reasons why and to endeavor to rectify the problems so they do not fester and grow. We attempt to do this first in-game, under the rules established by the devs, but in any case there should be no harm seen in noting a community members\' passing.
This should be a \"red-flag\" moment for those of you who are long in this world and care about it greatly. If you think this a small thing I respectfully suggest you check out Master Bod\'s posts here:

Master Bodacher is not the only person who has left for these reasons. Do you not see the negative effects this has on the future of the Planeshift community?
This is more than the loss of a friend, it is the loss of such an outstanding community member, one who contributed much to this wonderful world. Noting his passing from PS and remembering the good service he has done here is an honorable thing.

While I agree that Bodacher\'s leaving is a very sad thing, for I have heard nothing but good about him, this is taking on rather more-dramatic-than-truly-necessary proportions. People have left before, and people will leave in the future. I think instead of getting upset to such a degree about it, convince those who are still here to actually do something to change things for the better, instead of giving up. This is no red-flag to the community more than anyone else\'s parting has been in the past. Communities change - rarely does any one of them remain the same through time.
But as Efflixi stated, good friends will always keep in touch, regardless.

Leaving threads inevitably degrade into arguments over time, but they\'re not strictly against any rules here, and I like to keep them open as long as they stay nice so that people can show their respect for friends who they may never see again in their lives. Not everyone keeps everybody\'s contact once they leave a community, and people like me with terrible memories undoubtedly forget to say a few goodbyes where they\'re due.
So... er, be nice or something. I forgot what my point was. :P
