-
Hahah! I\'m tempted to do it.. :D I guess if you\'re still interested, you can send me a PM. An odd arrangement, however. Are you sure there is no one or no place close (walking/driving distance) from which you can try a download/CD burning yourself?
-
I live in a place where there is not any kind of broadband internet because where we live is no very populated at all. SO I will PM you My Name and address thanks so much PM me back to talk about what ever you wish for my to agree to and we will talk about it. Thank you so much. This really means allot to me.

I have another solution for you. If you\'re willing to stop by java.sun.com and download the JRE 1.5.0, I can get you my Java updater. Run that and it\'ll grab the most up to date files right off the update server (which is different from the download server, by the way).
-
How do I do that? Also conserdering I have dailup I can resume right?
-
Details for running the Updater are as follows:
1. Make sure you have Java 1.5.0 as specified.
2. Download the Updater from this link (http://www.world-of-cha0s.hostrocket.com/PSUpdater/Updater.jar) (it\'s less than 50k).
3. Create a folder called Planeshift (where you want the game) and place the Updater in it.
4. Double-click the updater to run it (if it asks you what to open it with, try to find \"javaw\").
If it doesn\'t run, go to Start->Run and type \"cmd\" (and press return). In the window that opens type \"cd \" (note the space) and then the path to the directory where the Updater is located and hit return. Then type \"java -jar Updater.jar\" and hit return.
5. Select the option \"Update all files\" and then click \"Start Update.\"
6. Prepare to wait for... a while. It has to download the whole game. :P
Please do not use the \"Individual Zip Entries\" option as this has been recently modified and is undergoing further testing for use with a currently non-existant repository architecture.
As for having dialup, you can\'t resume in the middle of a file, but since the game is split up into many smaller files, I don\'t think you\'ll have too much of an issue.
EDIT: organized

even if the game is burned via cd, you\'ll still ahve to update, so go ahead and get it going :p just might be a while before ya play.

Well if someone with the latest update burns a cd for him of their unpacked folder (which is less than 600mb) then he at least wouldnt have to update for a while.

Shame on you! Plugging your programs here...
Lol though seriously, I think the problem is he has dialup, so its going to be slow no matter what method he uses. Though im not sure if the actual problem here is speed, or it not working at all?
In addition, isnt the java runtime envrionment a pretty large download? Just wondering.

I installed off of a cd with a dialup connection, it can be done. Just install, then let it start updating and go to bed. In the morning you\'ll be ready to go.
Is it possible to just copy the Planeshift folder that has already been updated onto a different computer?
-
JRE is about 15 MB. And it\'s much easier than getting a CD mailed. ;)
As for plugging my programs... I only do it when they\'re useful. I don\'t ever make threads just for them. :P
-
I\'d do it, but I don\'t have Planeshift on my computer anymore..
-
Well thanks everyone but someone is mailling me a CD. But thanks for everyones help!
-
might be sensible for the someone to include the art files as well as the installer?

Yes, this is perfectly possible, I\'ve moved my PS around a lot. My install seen two computers and 5 folders (including network ones) by now. All you need to do is create the appropriate links if you want to have it easily accessible.
If anyone is going to burn a CD or otherwise give away a copy of an installed game, be sure to remove your login information beforhand!
