Title: Antra's Guild Knights Client Skin!
Post by: Neryam on October 02, 2005, 03:05:37 pm
So.. yeah I set about making a nice little skin for the Guild Knights.. :D

By the way, What I am already planning to change tomorrow: The item borders (Too bright, square and ugly), The buttons (Because of the item borders), the inventory character image border (Old background), and one little unreadable text bug.

Hmm... Looks pretty good... But yeah, the brightness of several elements (in contrast of overal darkness) seems to take the attention away from the actual items... At least for me.
That seems to be the only thing that needs correcting that I can spot right now... So I\'ll see tomorrow I guess ;)

I think the white slots for equipment in the inventory looks rather messy. It has the appearance of crude paper cut-outs. Perhaps if you try a grey tone, or some sort of variation of dark brown? :)

i really like this one... though it doesnt beat the VR skin...

one thing is can you increase the spacing between the tria \"squares\" and the writing in the inventory window?
though that would that include editing more files other than just the art...

It\'s cherppow\'s uber gui.  It\'s included with PS.

Yeh I think the only way (if possible) to move the trias areas would be to modify xml files in the game data, so that would  be all a hassle to install and just not so nice :/

Ah Cherppow\'s skin :P
Dunno, I gues its personal prefrence cause some people in ym guild said they like this one better :|
That skin\'s missing the stop attack and buy skill buttons too :/

What hit me when looking at this skin is brightness. It\'s like the middle bright colors don\'t exist for the author :P
The background images for every window could be as well single black pixel images. It is because it is so dark, that it is hardly possible to see any details in it. It makes me wonder if Neryam doesn\'t have his monitor brightness set 2 times stronger than normally it should be :) If so, that would explain why it is so dark, but it would prove that any image made by you, have unbalanced colors and are too dark :P

I actually don\'t mind it.  Light on dark is much easier on the eyes than dark on light so it means we can use this skin and play much longer without our eyes getting tired. ;)  In fact, I just changed my 3ds max skin to light on dark for this very reason (plus it makes me look cooler whenever I post screenies - hey, every little bit helps).  While the design itself isn\'t as creative as the default or VR/elves it is still nice to look at and easy to use.  I like it.  I just wish more people would get into editing the xml.  The default ui is by no means optimized in its layout of things.

Heh, yeah I hate bright backgrounds, I like my backgrounds as dark as possible so...

I wanted it to be that dark, and I didn\'t want all the details to be bright and glaring cause they are not important... Text box borders aren\'t really important, only the text, The buttons and inventory equip images are, so they glow, giving a very strong focal point..

I guess I didn\'t want to spend a month on it either :P But go for maximum practicality and ease of use :D
