Title: This is my first post.
Post by: Snodgrass on November 09, 2002, 08:44:09 pm
I am running.
Redhat  7.3 Linux.
Athelon 1.6Ghz.
GForce 4.
Cable Modem.

The demo runs smooth.  No major problems except I fall through the ground from time to time.  The problem is problably in the collission detection algorhythym.

I have been in and ran many campaigns in many RPG systems.  AD&D, Gurps, Traveler, and Space Opera to name a few.  From Fantasy to Sci-Fi.  The premise of this system seems pretty solid.  No pun intended.  But to coin the phrase the \"Devil is in the details\".  Is there a document that lays out the numeric system that will be used to determine the tactical and strategic play of the game?  I would like to model the system to determine the game balance.

The graphics on this game are the best I have ever seen.  I have been playing video role playing games for awhile now.  I think when the rest of this is working this game is going to be great.  On a side note, if your cookies are disabled you can\'t post anything.

Welcome to Planeshift Snodgrass :)

I think the collision detection problem has been taken care of or at least improved already in the next release. It may be out in the next month or two. Almost all of us have gotten an underground tour of the city hehe.
The devs ,of course, could give you more info.

I think that the Falling through teh earth prblem is due to teh fact the starting position is to close to the geometery of Laanx temple, result is if your in teh wall when you spawn in it sticks you either behind it (dont think theres a floor or any geometry under laanx temple so you fall through), or the same idea happens since your starting position is to close to teh floor and it throws you under it. not sure how big the ground point of teh PC models is like, since if it was just a point then it would be very easy to end up underground if that point was one fraction of a unit below the ground plane, although im taking it from a sprite angle where the models would have a hotspot that defines the base of the feet. hmm i ramble

heh... never had it happen my self

Details are important and PS certainly has started taking care of those.
As far as seeing an actual document, Im not sure youd be able to just yet......

Bigfoot,
When I fell I had been wandering aroudn for a while then I went back towards the fountain. I think I had stepped up on one of the stone walls next to the stairs on the outer rim of the fountain area. When I stepped down I went a bit further than intended.
I was stuck since I didnt know the /spawn command hehe.

So anyway my point is that I wasn\'t close to the temple when I fell. I dunno I am guessing its taken care of anyway.

Snodgrass,

The rules for combat do exist in a document, but that document hasn\'t been released to the general public yet.  You may want to apply for the Rules team and come help the team if you want to validate them, etc.

Good luck,

Venge
