In light of a number of (possibly old) threads that I have seen around lately with people leaving because this person or that person saying something to them. I wan\'t to make it perfectly clear that I -for one- am stickuing around. No one PMs me, no one Emails me and hell I don\'t even get a responce from the Devs no matter how many times I apply (it\'s up to 10 now I think) but I see no reason to leave a perfectly viable and much needed project over some twelve-year-old squabbles.
Who\'s the bigger fool; the one who open\'s their useless mouth and attacks perfectly useful members of the community over a bad day or the one that lets it ruin their Hero?

People have their reasons, reasons that may not be apparent without a deeper glance. Some are perfectly valid, some lack foundation, but we\'re not here to make fun of each other, or ridicule anyone over his or her decision. If someone has left, let them go unless you wish to keep in touch for positive purposes. I\'m glad many people are sticking around no matter what, because these are the ones that will influence the future of the community, not those who have given up. However, everyone has the right to a choice.
Be careful with this thread :) I\'d much rather discussions remain open, but it is quite an iffy subject, and the wrong kind of replies may very well hasten its closure.
Try to be sensitive to others for their experiences.

i\'ve never been harassed by any devs/mods or anyone of that rank. If I did I would probally read it and take it as a joke. if we all start complaining about stupid things in life we would have a thread here with like 50 billion posts.
*UPDATE!* life is life, put up with it.
also with Efflixi Aduro\'s post

Indeed Moderators were placed here to keep these forums in a good enviroment. but well the reason Moderators close threads is the main purpose of safty for the other members of the forum. they do this if it contains harrassing, sexist and racist comments and other things like this. plus if there are stupid and inappropriate posts then they close it so that people don\'t start argueing over a post ie; price of eggs in india and stuff. what do these threads really have to do with Planeshift or life???

I was thinking of making a thread like this maybe titled \"Why are you staying\" but I wasnt sure how people would take it and I didnt want to be the only one to post :P. But that is good to hear XpYtZ, I will join you :D. I am another that will not leave. So over the next 30 to 50 years XpYtZ9er (my goodness I have a hard time spelling your name even though it is only 5 letter :) ) I hope to see you around.

hmm I don\'t know who to thank for the trusty and very convenient things that you can do. they are called \'Copy\' and \'Paste\' do my trick and use that to copy people\'s names. that way people can\'t complain that you spelt it wrong :P.

Hahaha. I like this thread, though I have no idea what XyPtZ is saying in that last sentence.

Your posts are usually to the point, but you have a tendancy to jump the gun on things. I\'ve seen and experienced things in game that others have not, just as others have experienced things in game that I have not. Is that not a fair assessment? Given that it is a true statement, I might come to one conclusion based on what I know while someone else comes to another understanding based on different or contrasting information. It isn\'t about bulk. It isn\'t about knowing more or less than someone else. It\'s merely about having a different set of experiences leading to a different set of inferences.
-
I\'ll clarfy a couple things:
First I\'m not saying that there are no valid reasons for people leaving: school, a computer blowing up, just plain getting bored and wanting a change of scenery but I have seen a lot of people leave over the past two years and the majority have been over squabbles that could easily have been solved with a simple \"I\'m sorry.\"
If people would take even a second in those situations to consider the advice they have so often given others they would probably not leave.
Second, I myself have been treated with rudeness and distain in game by people that never come to the forums and have been refered to as a \'n00b\' by at least three people. Two guilds have asked me who the hell I was after I applied to join and, as I said in my first post, though I have applied multiple times I have never gotten any kind of a responce from the Developers. I\'ve even been verbally assulted, hard core by one on the IRC channel over a lack of knowledge that I never claimed to have. So I\'m not just blowing off about people not having reasons to get upset. I\'m saying that letting it ruin your day, life, Hero (PS character) is a mistake, not sometimes, always.
Thirdly, call me \'X\' it\'s a hell of a lot easier :)

It isn\'t about the individual experiences, it is what you gain from them. Two people can have two totally different things happen to them, and yet reach the same conclusion. And then if you are dealing with opinion rather then fact, two people can see the exact same thing and take a totally different perspective on something.
In other words, either you meant something else then what you stated right here...or your post was completely vapid, because no we aren\'t looking through your eyes and I think (most) everyone realizes that but thank you for stating so.

Agrees with what X said.

Maybe it\'s partly your own fault if you are getting fed up with some of the players here. No one is making you associate with them... Digging anywhere will unearth unpleasant things. However, if you know who you enjoy playing with, and play with them, you can almost always find a way to make even the worst situation fun. There are plenty of people playing PS who just want to have fun with others, and really, that\'s the point of an MMORPG...
Also, a lot of people tend to come back ;).

*sigh* I think you\'re missing the point here. Besides, if I wanted to be really nasty I could just say that there is no truth beyond opinion.

You always say this. Care to try to explain exactly what I missed for once? Because opinion versus fact had very little to do with what I said, and in no way proves your earlier point.

People disagree because of differences in personal experiences. It happens all the time.

That is not an explanation on how I \"missed your point\" seeing as how I did, in fact, address this exact point.
From what I can tell, this is exactly the \"point\" that I replied to. You say if someone saw it through your eyes they would have a different opinion on something. That is of course wrong for the reason I stated right here:

I also pointed out how people can reach the same conclusion from totally different experiences, which makes the \"if only you\'ve seen what I\'ve seen\" even more useless. How do you know XyPtZ hasn\'t had the same experiences as yourself? You don\'t. Just because he draws a different conclusion from it doesn\'t mean your \"experiences\" will in any way change his mind, it could even make it a stronger opinion for him.
NOTE: See above for example of an explanation.
EDIT(s): Changed the post completely and got rid of a few incorrect statements. Proofreading, it saves lives.
EDIT in reply to below because I don\'t feel like replying anymore: Oh, that was your point? Good. Because I totally just proved it wrong in this post. Job done.

My point is that I\'ve seen clashes of egos which are not best described as \"12 year old squabbles\".

Would \'large bears with burrs up ther collective butts\" be more appropriate.
Sure there are a number of things that give a person valid cause for becoming angry. But most of what I see is people getting their feelings hurt because this or that got deleted, ignored, lambasted...you get the point. I\'m not saying that anyone is \'wrong\' for leaving. I just know that some have left over silly things like: \"She called me a poopy head and deleated two of my 3,000,000 posts. She\'s a bad, person.\" Grow up!
Now if there really is a problem that justifies your leaving, do it. Don\'t stick around and just make problems for everyone, or your self. I\'m sure there are people, Mods and Devs included that just don\'t get along with one another and maby the best thing to do is leave in that situation. There are plenty of other games out there that would love new players. But I\'ve seen a lot of retarded reasons since I got here.
Could you PM me with the names of the individuals involved?
I\'ll have to ask which exactly you are refering to there is a lot in the post...on second thought, no.
There is no need to get into it about the Dev since I\'m sure he just misread his screen, the guilds are dead now anyway and the players were/are \'posers\' anyhow.

Fair enough, I see your side of things.

I think it would be boring to have a community with always the same players. Or a large community with lots of old players and even more new ones.
I\'m glad some leave, as I\'m glad that some join and as I\'m glad that some stay.
It happens and it is innevitable. And dumbness is as valid a reason as any other.
I\'m glad to say I\'m staying with the whole PS package. With Ego Clashes and Children Squabbles bonus feats included.

hmm yeah I think I might agree with that Sangwa. It would be totally boring with all the same members of a forum for a long/medium period. bringing in new people brings in new opinions/topics for use to read about and talk/argue about. while having newbies coming in may bring up topics that have been discussed before may annoy the Mods and bit but what the heck :P, it happens.
-
If it\'s true that we are here to help others, then, what exactly are the others here for???
Eating...?
I see your point entirely Sangwa, even if I don\'t agree with it. People leaving is good since we don\'t get stagnant, yes. I just don\'t like it when they whine about being mistreated or leave in a huff.
Not that I want them to slip quietly out the back door, just...*sigh*...Well, I don\'t like it when people leave with their feelings hurt and if they must then at least let the community go on in peace.
\"Sorry all but it\'s time for me to go.\"
Is about the only thing that I like to see. There are plenty who have left that way and I respect them for it. Most of the \"I\'m leaving because this person did that to me.\" posts don\'t name people, won\'t elaborate on their situation and look like they are just looking for someone to take their side and say \"Oh, poor you. The injustice of it all.\" That, really grates me, and their inability or unwillingness to name anyone for \'honors\' sake is a load of crap. They would not have brought it up if they were not trying to draw attention to it.
-
I\'m leaving.
someone looked at me funny X(
...
no I can\'t do it! >.<
please love me again I missed you too much! ;(
erm... yeah... *flee*

Well, I don\'t like it when people leave with their feelings hurt and if they must then at least let the community go on in peace.
I understand. I wasn\'t paying attention to that issue. It\'s always negative when someone gets its feelings hurt, and it rarely afflicts only one person.
There is, however, not much we can do about it. But I guess every little effort might help in a way.
